When I came back home, I gave Mama the biggest hug. When I got to know her decision, I cried my eyes out not because of the prospect of Mama shaving her head, but by the fact that I knew how much this had been affecting her.

I saw the way she had started to cover her head with a beanie at home or a scarf when she was going out. I did not know how to talk to her about this so I just sort of glossed over that it was actually happening.
