Chapter 8 I'll make you pay

Rachel's POV

I felt my entire body quiver in pain. My face shifted to the other side.

The slap sounded so loud that my ears began to vibrate. I raised my hands to my face, holding it in shock. I heard shocking gasps from everyone in the room. Some even placed a hand on their mouth, their eyes widened at what had just happened.

My grandfather, just slapped me.

The thought rang in my head before I finally came to terms with it.

" You slapped me... For her?" I said in disbelief pointing at Lana who stood at a corner behind my grandfather.

Did he not hear anything of what I just said?

" I've been your granddaughter for over twenty years, and yet you slap me for someone you just met?"

My body shook in anger, and pain.

My lips trembling with unspoken words.

" Grandpa, please, don't hurt sister anymore..." Lana said coming to stand in front of me.

I couldn't say anything, still holding the cheek I was so mercilessly slapped on.

She just called him grandpa. I could never call my grandfather, grandpa. Tried it once when I was ten, and he scolded me never to do it again.

Blood has a lot of privileges.

" She tried to hurt you, yet you still plead for her..." My grandfather shook his head in annoyance

"... Rachel doesn't deserve a sister like you".

" But Rachel is right... " Lana lowered her head slowly. She looked like she was about to admit oding something wrong.

A spark of hope came to me, maybe she still had a conscience in that deep black, lying heart of her's.

"What are you talking about honey?" My mother asked worriedly.

" I... I... I... Mr Hart and I indeed had something together "Tears had begun falling from her eyes. She began to sob.

" But, mummy, it wasn't our fault. I... I went to a party and I was drunk, and Mr Hart was drugged... We... We couldn't fight it... " She broke down in tears. My mother went over to her side to comfort her.

I couldn't believe my ears.

" What??? " I shouted.

How could someone lie so much...

" David was going home to meet... To meet Rachel, but was invited to a friend's party, and that where he was drugged. We both were victims, we tried to explain it to Rachel, but... But she wouldn't hear us, all she wanted was a divorce". She held on to my mother's hand for support as she cried out.

I could see my mother was shocked by the information, but managed to keep her surprise at bay, holding Lana's hand to keep her calm.

My mouth opened so widely but no words came out of it.

" It's okay, Lana. It's alright. You've explained this to me, it's nothing to be ashamed of ". My grandfather coated.

A wry smile came to my lips.

I had never believe Lana was this good of an actress until now. Both of us when into acting, but I had to stop pursuing it because of my marriage to David while she went on and became one of the top actress in the country, but still I never knew how good she was until now.

My grandfather turned to me.

" This is the reason why I want you to apologize to Mr Hart. It was a misunderstanding between you two yet you so quickly opted for a divorce". He yelled at me.

I wanted to deny it, I wanted to tell them the truth. But the thing was I already had, nobody believe me, and nobody would.

My grandfather gestured to my father who was by a corner the entire time to come over.

He responded quickly coming to stand by his wife and newly found daughter.

" Now I want you to go back to Mr Hart and beg for forgiveness. Maybe you might be lucky and he would want you back". My father ordered.

Beg him? No... I would rather die than to be used as an object for their mockery.

" I would never... " I muttered with wiping my tears with my fingers.

"Rachel what are you saying? Everything was a misunderstanding and Lana has already apologized for something he had no control over what is your problem?" My mother shouted.

It was no longer surprising. Nothing could surprise me anymore.

"Ahem! ahem!!" My grandfather cleared his throat silencing all the murmurings and side talks from everyone in the room.

" With how quick you divorced him, it won't surprise me that you had the though in mind for a long time now. Look here child, now that you know that you're not the real child of this family, you no longer have the privileges being part of this family provides.

No man would want to marry a second fiddle, a divorcee. If you don't want to beg Mr Hart, that's also fine, it was not as if you deserved someone like him anyways. "

I felt like my whole world just crumbled before my eyes.

My best friend, my husband, my family, everything I thought I owned, everything just disappear.

" You are hereby banned from this family. ". My father shouted.

I looked towards my mother, but she just turned her face away from me, keeping her eyes glued to Lana.

" Please dad, It isn't Rachel's fault. I was the one who shohld have been more careful... " Lana pleaded for me.

" Oh shut up... " I mumbled to everyone's hearing.

My blood was boiling with so much rage and pain that I feared that I would explode.

" You..." I pointed at Lana.

" You are the devil. You came into my life like a friend, yet you slowly destroyed me from the inside out. You... You wanted to ruin my life, and you've finally done it".

" Rachel, I didn't mean to... "

" Shut up! " I yelled my voice went even more louder than I had supposed taking Lana aback.

" You..." I pointed at my grandfather

" You never liked me, never once have you complimented me for anything I've done since I was little. "

" And you..." I pointed at my mother.

" I always thought, Rachel no matter what the family members think of you, you can face the world because you have your mother at your side... Now I know I was just a substitute to heal your pain of losing your child".

" All of you..." I looked at each and everyone of the Andrew family members which were present.

" You're all bird of the same feathers".

" I'll go, but I promise you Lana..." I glared at Lana determinedly.

" You will pay for this". I said in a low threatening voice.

" Leave now before I call the cops. " My father yelled seeming unfazed by my threat, but Lana not so much.

Her almost perfect acting face crumbled a bit, giving me the reaction I wanted from her.

I took a step back, then another one, before turning around and walking out of the house.

My old home.

A place I used to consider as my safe haven, but now it's my hell.

I shut my eyes to prevent the tears from falling, using my hands to cover my mouth to hold in the sobs.

I walked outside to see John standing beside the car that brought me here.

" What...are you still doing here?" I asked him looking away so he wouldn't guess that I was just crying.

I've been inside for almost two hours, why did he stay?

" Ma'am, my boss instructed me to take you whenever you want to go and to bring you back home when you're done".

Ethan ordered him to do that?

Why?

Whatever...

"Em... I'm not in the mood to see your boss, you can go back". I gave him a curt nod and walked away, but he followed me.

" Ma'am please... My boss said I shouldn't come back without you". He begged.

But I just wanted to be alone.

" Just go back, I want to he alone!" I yelled as I started up my pace and started running.

" Ma'am..." I heard him call after me, but I wanted to think, I wanted to cry, I wanted to yell at the world, I couldn't do that with a person by my side.

I need a place where I could be alone, don't know where that would be, but definitely not here and not in Ethan's mansion.
