Chapter Two
Alphonso Manuel
There were two kinds of people I hated. The first one were slow witted people and the second kind are the ones that lie to my face.
And unfortunately, I was going to deal with the second kind of person right this instant.
I am standing in the torturing chambers staring at one of the useless beings that used to work for the Manuel family, my family.
A liar and a betrayer of the family, a snitch to the core.
Ten of my guards joined me in this quest as his case was a very critical one.
No one betrayed the family and let go easily. They were always made to face a slow and painful death.
When we got to the room he was in.
I took off my suit and passed it to the guard beside me.
My little prisoner in question was tied kneeling and was shaking heavily as he saw me.
I relished in this a lot. The fear in the eyes of this lousy betraying leeches.
“Boss, please forgive me, it was the devils doing,”
Now this is what got me so irritated, those that blamed the devil, I was so pissed that I gave him a punch in the face.
“You bastard, that same Devil is now using me to teach you a lesson. You should have thought of the consequences before listening to him”
I brought out my hand before the guard beside me and he instinctively brought out his gun and handed it to me.
The lousy liar began to shake frantically again.
I clicked the gun and asked.
“I am going to give you ten counts Luis, ten counts and that’s all it would take to tell me why you have chosen to betray the Manuel family and il sovrano.”
He looked into the ground still hesitant to speak.
Maybe he was weighing the odds, but surely I hope this bastard was not trying to choose the Maranzano family over the Manuels. He was already dead meat.
“One”
I counted anyways, I did not have time for useless beings who were slow and liked to waste people’s time.
“Why were you working as a spy for the Maranzano family?”
He shifted his weight on one knee and I realized that his kneeling position must have been painful for him.
I signaled to another guard in the room.
“Cut his ropes loose.”
When they were done, Luis was now comfortable to talk. Comfortable in my own eyes.
“The Maranzano’s cornered me after an operation and threatened to kill my family if I didn’t work for them as a spiare… I had no choice boss.”
I was at the count of five now, he really should do more talking and less blaming here, didn’t he know that his life span was about to be cut short by me and only me.
I grabbed him by the hair and pulled it back till I could see the vein in his neck knowing fully well that it was killing him.
“You are not the only bastard that they’ve threatened here, so I’m going to need something more tangible than that.”
His eyes now conveyed horror and dread, with trembling lips, he began to cry.
“I am so sorry boss, I am truly sorry, it was my greed, they offered me so much more, they helped me with my daughter’s medical bills, and I had to do their bidding. i…”
I counted to ten and stopped.
“This has got to be the slowest count I have ever done”
My guards laughed at my silly joke. As
I stepped back a bit and regarded him for a minute.
“They call people like you the weakest link and here in The Manuel family we value one important thing, and that is unity.”
I bent over to where he sat and stared at him.
“You did the one thing every man in the whole of Italia knows that I hate and that was lying to my face”
But she to the fact that he had mentioned his sick daughter.
I was feeling really generous today maybe it was also because il sovrano had told me that she had a surprise for me.
I had to kill him with a different weapon this time then, to show how good my mood was.
And that weapon would be kindness.
“Luis, I have decided to let you go, but you have to appease me first.”
I could see a ray of hope in his eyes now, all the fear and pain seemed to have vanished. I chuckled within me.
As he looked like someone that was being offered a drop of water after being in hell for so long
“Tell me, boss, I would do anything, anything to spare my life.”
I smiled at this,
Taking the gun that I had been holding earlier, I decided to hand it to him.
“This is not your first time holding a gun eh, it won’t bite so just take it.”
He forces a smile and takes it from me nervously.
“Now the instructions are simple, Luis. I want you to pick a foot between your right foot and your left foot, point the gun at the chosen foot, and pull the goddam trigger”
I stop there and snap my fingers and immediately ten of my men present in the room too all pointed their guns at him. Which made me laugh again.
You, see? Quick thinkers. My men knew exactly what I wanted and how I wanted it.
“Oh yes, what was I saying? Or else. Ten of these men would give you two bullets from each of their guns and if my simple or rather basic calculations are correct, twenty entire bullets would greet your body and kiss you goodbye forever, the best part is you will feel it for a second, seeping through you, your body getting intimate with those bullets and it would be fun for me to watch anyway.”
I sounded too dramatic. Well, Whatever.
He starts crying again, and I don’t waste time so I give him a countdown from five to one, but faster this time.
“…three, two...” and the bullet lands on his left foot. His scream evaded the building.
I smile. “Nice work”
Turning to the guard with my suit, I take it from him and put it on.
“Do not treat his wound until tomorrow morning, I will decide what to do with him after that”
He nods in understanding to my request. I remember to ask him about my right-hand man.
“And where the hell has Santiago rushed off to?”
The man hesitates before replying.
“You didn’t know sir?”
I look at him in sheer annoyance.
“If I knew, would I be here asking you questions?”
He apologizes.
“I am sorry Boss”
As he should.
“Now where did that motherfucker go?”
He looks down in reply.
“It’s your bride-to-be, she was in a car accident, they just brought her home and the doctors are attending to her. Il Sovrano said we should tell you after business.”
I cursed under my breath.
“The devil take it, the surprise my mother had for me was a bride?”
Chapter three. Alcantara Walters.I opened my eyes and saw a golden ceiling before me, the room was spacious and huge and I started to wonder if I was in heaven already. I tried slipping out of the bed but I clumsily pushed down a little golden calling bell that was beside me and its loud noise began to echo in the room. Just then I started hearing a lot of footsteps. It sounded like people marching up the stairs, in a minute the door in the room flew open and seven women in maid uniforms carrying a lot of dishes came into the room. I opened my mouth in shock. As an older and friendly-looking maid of the seven came a bit closer to talk to me. “Good morning, Miss, it is a pleasure to serve you this morning, we have arranged a full-course breakfast which has been prepared by our very fine chef Sir Angus of great Ireland. We hope it will be to your liking” I stared mutely at the woman unable to say a word as I watched them bring a footed large tray on the bed and drop all the food
Chapter four Alphonso ManuelIt wasn't until evening that I was finally able to see my mother. I barged into her chambers to question her on the recent news I just heard. She was firm in telling me.“You will like her, Trust your mother” I sighed in frustration, I still enjoyed my single life, finding a wife now was a delay on my part. I don’t even like women past the bed stage, what would make this woman different? “What is her name?” My mother sat facing the mirror as she touched up her face.“Alcantara, she is not from these parts, I think she just relocated here from another country.” Okay, this seemed interesting, she was a foreigner. I began pacing front and back in thought. “If she doesn’t agree to be my bride, what would happen?” I and my mother knew very well that no one was supposed to know about our organization and what we truly are, the society knew only what The Manuel family wanted them to know, anyone asking to know more shall end up Dead.My mother paused as
Chapter five My palms were sweaty as I stood in front of the mirror while the maids dressed me up in an elegant red dinner gown, I was sure I had never worn before. They saw the ruined curtains on the floor and just kept quiet about it, asking me nothing, except my choice of jewelry and other body accessories. When they were sure that I was all dolled up, the head maid comes in and tells me that I am already few minutes late for dinner and it would make the Bosses very annoyed. She urged me to get up and hasten for the dinning room as il Sovrano and her son must be waiting for me. I remember the words of the stranger I had met in that balcony; I would act when they least expect and escape from this place to see my brother. I couldn’t help but wonder who that man at the balcony was and if he was also kidnapped like me, I would really love to help him too. As I reached the Dining room, I was surprised by the very little table that only had Four chairs. For a mansion as elegant an
Chapter 6 Alphonso’s pov.I stared at her as she gracefully strode in front of me as we made our way to the garden. After having our dinner a few minutes ago. She looked good in the gown she wore that night, fucking good, too good. I wondered what I was going to tell her, just admiring her backside like this was beautiful.I waved at my guards who were walking behind us, to reduce their pace, I needed some alone time with my prospect. When they were far enough, I began.“You can talk freely now; the guards have given us enough space to…”Before I could finish my sentence, I saw her turn at a speed of almost lightning and point a small table knife to my neck.I wasn’t quick to dodge it so I just stood there staring into her hazel eyes with a knife held to my throat. My guards noticed that something was off but I asked them to stay back.An involuntary smile crept on my face. it was at this moment that I realized that Alcantara was bad news.Only this woman can stop my heart and sta
Chapter 7Alcantara WaltersI am now convinced that the people in this mansion are either psychopaths or non-humans, I mean how the hell was this man able to keep a straight face and tell me that I was going to fall in love with him after a month? What kind of challenge was that?“Can you even listen to yourself right now? How the hell is this a plan?”I watched the sly smug on his face disappear when he realized that I wasn’t going to buy his shit.“You do not understand it?”I nod affirmatively.“You are giving me two options and both of them entail that I stay here in your crazy mansion for more than a day? Hell 31 days, what do you want me to understand?”He releases his grip on me and I step further away from him so he doesn’t touch or grab me anymore.“I can’t stay here, I feel uneasy, as much as I don’t have a life out there, I sure as hell know that I don’t belong here either!”He looks unfazed by my pleas and responds.“Since you can’t listen to me, I think I will have to show
Chapter 8Alphonso’s Pov. I had just finished telling my mother all about me and Tara’s plan because I knew that if my mother ever had her way, she would get us married in a week.“You are being a too lenient young man, what in fucks name has my little fiery choice done to you?”I smile at her as she gazes at me in surprise. Did she just call Tara her little fiery choice? It makes me laugh so I reply confidently.“I want to unravel the mystery of who she is, she interests me, in ways no one not even myself can understand.”Knowing my mother all too well, I knew that she still wasn’t that convinced so she asked.“But 31 days? that’s a lot of time.”I almost drop a loud sigh of exasperation before replying.“In the end, Ma, I will make the choices.”She nods after seeing my persistence.“Fine, I would be traveling for a month anyway, I just hope that when I get back, you will be giving me good news.”I grin.“I sure would.”It’s now midnight and I decide to visit Tara ‘s room one more
Chapter 9Alcantara Walters.I struggled to stand and listen to the words of the psychopath that had me glued to him this morning. He looked at me like I was the only interesting thing that had ever occurred to him in this wicked life of his and it got me scared. How could someone who had just met me in one day make me quiver to this extent? I remembered my brother’s advice when he would usually tell me that eyes don’t lie.Right now with the way this man looked at me coupled with the words he was speaking. It is confirmed. He is… Mentally unstable. It all makes sense now, why his mother would be kidnapping me and forcing me to marry her son.I was right in the first place no one would want to stay with such a man, no matter how dashing he looked up close with his evil hazel eyes that could snare anyone under the sheets with him. What the hell am I thinking? It’s almost as if my body is having a conflict with my mind. What the hell was this man trying to do to me?I look away from him
Chapter 10Alphonso’s pov.-Five years ago-I had just walked into one of my favorite clubs and moved my way to the VIP spot made for me as I didn’t want to be disturbed.I watched the strippers there to entertain me with intent but at that time I wasn’t feeling too fuckery at the moment.Just then a message notification pops up in my phone.BOSS HE IS NOW IN THE CARI smiled and decided to call him about the business I had come for.By Him. I meant Antonio Blanco, the thorn in my flesh and the thief who dared to steal my billion-dollar deal.I dial his number and wait for his response.“Who is this?” I hear his voice ask and I speak.“Antonio Blanco, I see you must be having a wonderful evening.?”He must have been so irritated by my voice that I heard his exasperated sigh.“What do you want Mr Manuel?”I grin, it’s time to show the other card.“I’ve got a question for you.?”I say trying to rile him up a little bit.“Ride or die, Antonio?”I ask and he replies in confusion.“If you a
