Valerie POV
He walked towards me and stood by my side, taking a quick glance at my body as if searching for any injury. I gulped down nervously as his eyes raked past my chest and finally he turned to stare at Liam who seemed suddenly frozen. At a distance, I could see the slight fear emanating from Liam even as he tried to compose and hide it. " What a coincidence, Liam Anderson!" Ryan called, his brows creasing with a frown. It was obvious the tension between them wasn't palpable and in that moment of unease, I hailed down a cab and rushed in, not wanting to wait for the aftermath of what would happen between the two men. Freedom at last! *** I alighted from the cab and paid the driver and quickly rushed into the building to pack my things. It was over after all. First thing tomorrow morning after I sign the divorce papers, I would leave New York to find myself again and then come back to face Liam and my sister! I skidded through the stairs quickly and accidentally crashed into my sister who was coming out of my bedroom. Stephanie was back? When did she come back and what the hell was she doing in there? I glared at her with hatred remembering her last words when Liam had kicked me off. "Let's go, she deserves it" The words kept ringing as a bell in my ears and instantly, I pushed her out of my way and walked towards the room. "Valerie" She called in shock, probably surprised by my attitude. If I was still the old Valerie, she would step on me but now I was above that. I walked towards my wardrobe and within few minutes, I was as I pulled my suitcase downstairs just then, Liam's car drove in and swiveled to the parking lot and he alighted, walking hastily towards me but I cared less. "Valerie, we need to talk, this moment!" His pupils glinted with a angry look as he stood in my way, but I didn't care one bit as I rolled my eyes at him. "I have nothing to talk to you about Liam, just register in your brains that it's over between us!" I snapped and with that, I sluggishly dragged my luggage with me and left. The tears that I've been trying to hold finally rolled down my cheeks. Everything was too much for me. Too heavy for a twenty six year old lady. I was tired of everything, I just wished I could disappear. My mind drifted back to the first time I met Liam, he had been so gentle with me that I felt myself getting ensnared in his charms. When he suddenly proposed to me, I was satisfied, even if I didn't get any love from my parents, at least I thought I would get it from Liam. But he had shattered that hope and my sister has once again, proven to me that I could only remain her shadow but that ends today. I would rise above them, in a position they could only catch a glimpse. "Do everyone a favor and disappear quietly" Mom had told me at eighteen when I had hit Stephanie for insulting me and in the end they locked me up and starved me for days. The day of my wedding with Liam, I had told my parents I would disappear and they would never see me again, I would never step into their house for anything. Stephanie was my younger sister but she dominated every part of my life, everything I wished to have, Stephanie was given as if fate itself was on her side and against me. I trekked further, my legs was beginning to give away to weakness and finally I stopped at a mini-bar to order for some refreshments. My mind drifted to the guy I met at the hospital and I smiled. He's handsome! I squealed inwardly, not believing that my heart already skipped for another man when I just emerged from a horrible one "Your order ma'am" The bartender said, dropping the bottles of drinks on the table and I nodded " Thanks" I muttered and he left. Soon enough, four bottles of Hennessy was already empty and I was about opening the fifth one when a strange hand held me. "You're drunk already and open to danger Valerie" The familiar voice called, startling me and I turned around as my gaze fell on the guy. I blinked twice, trying to make out his imposing physique but my vision was blurry, the alcohol was gradually getting to me. "Hey, wanna take me home hotty?" I pouted, slightly amused at his frowned face. He seemed taken aback by my question but remained composed. " Would you like to go home then?" He asked, narrowing his gaze and i chuckled. "Don't do that, it doesn't look good on you" I replied pulling him roughly closer to me. Somehow, I felt strange urges course through me I wanted Ryan Devante! At this moment of my life I didn't care about the rumors, if he was dangerous or not, I just needed a touch from him and I would get it. "Take me home please" I staggered up from where I sat, almost falling to the ground but he caught me in mid-air and for a moment, I got lost in his grey eyes. Is he even human? "Let's go home Now, Mrs Valerie" He said as he lifted me off my feet and cuddled me strongly in his arms, I smuggled closer to his chest to inhale his manly scent until he put me in the car and drove off. Within a few hours, we arrived at his house and to say it was beautiful would be derogatory, it was magnificent and more exquisite than Liam's. He carried me into the bedroom and dropped me on the bed but as he wanted to leave, I grabbed him by the collar with all my strength, causing him to fall on top of me. "I want you please, touch me" Right now, I didn't know if it was the effect of the alcohol acting but I knew well enough I wanted Ryan. Without double thoughts, I crashed my lips on his, forcing the desires out of him as his hands raked all over my body. "Ohhh--- please" I moaned as he squeezed my butts. He moved up to my crop top and slid in his hands, his hands pressed my boobs tightly as he nibbled on my lower lips. "Want more?" He asked and I nodded as he removed my top and my boobs bounced out firmly.. I felt a hard throb in between my legs and I moved my hips up to grace it. "You're beautiful!" He complimented ogling at my body and I smiled. At least, he found me attractive and I loved just that. He lowered his head and kissed me then whispered " Marry me for a year and you would have more of this"Ryan POV"Sir we found her" One of my guards called Bradus said as my gaze shifted from the files of work that laid on the desk to him. " Let her go" I said, and his brows arched in surprise."But sir,---""It's okay, just let her go, Monica is the least of my problems right now, you can go" I cut in on his words, his mouth hung open, breaching anything he had wanted to say. I knew he would be shocked because I don't go back on my words but Monica had violated that rule of mine. "Okay, sir" He replied, bowed and left. I sighed, my mind drifting to numerous things.Grandfather had called and asked me to get married as that was the only way he would give his last assets to me or give it to the government. I had hired Monica to do the job but it seemed the slut looked through my files and ran away with my money.I asked my guards to find her and she had been seen at the airport boarding the first flight that came in sight but I didn't see the need to capture her anymore. If she wanted
Valerie’s POVSunlight filtered through the massive floor-to-ceiling windows, bathing the bedroom in a golden hue. I blinked against the brightness, groaning softly as I turned to my side—only to freeze.I wasn’t alone.Ryan Devante lay beside me, his breathing steady, his muscular frame relaxed against the silk sheets. His dark hair was tousled in a way that should’ve looked messy but instead made him look even more devastatingly handsome. And then it hit me.I had agreed to marry him.A billionaire. A man I barely knew.Oh, God.My stomach twisted as the events of last night replayed in my head, his absurd proposal, his reasoning, and worse, my acceptance. I had said yes. I had willingly agreed to a contract marriage with the most enigmatic, unreadable man I had ever met. What the hell was I thinking?I needed to get up. To clear my head. To put some distance between myself and this reckless decision.Slowly, I lifted the blanket, careful not to disturb him. I swung my legs over the
Valerie’s POVI should have known the day was going to be a disaster the moment I stepped out of the bedroom. The mansion was eerily quiet as I walked down the grand hallway, my bare feet making no sound against the polished marble floors. It was almost unsettling—like the calm before a thunderstorm.I had barely made it to the dining room when I saw Ryan sitting at the head of the table, dressed in an impeccably tailored suit, flipping through his phone as he sipped his coffee. He looked completely at ease, as if today wasn’t the day we were about to turn the entire world upside down.I, on the other hand, felt like I was about to walk into an ambush."You’re finally down," he said without looking up from his phone."Unfortunately," I muttered under my breath as I pulled out a chair. He smirked. "You sound excited.""I’m thrilled," I deadpanned, grabbing a piece of toast.Ryan finally looked up, his eyes gleaming with amusement. "You’ll survive.""Easy for you to say," I shot back. "
Valerie’s POV I woke up to the sound of my phone buzzing aggressively on the nightstand. For a moment, I lay there, disoriented, the events of the previous day rushing back like a freight train. Valerie’s POVThe entire ride back to Ryan’s penthouse was tense. My heart was still racing from the hooded figure watching us. Ryan hadn’t said a word since we got into the car, but his grip on the steering wheel was tight, his jaw clenched as if he were holding something back.I shifted in my seat, glancing at him. “Ryan…”“Not now,” he muttered, his voice sharp.I pressed my lips together, feeling frustration bubble inside me. “You can’t just ignore this. Who the hell was that?”Ryan didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he pulled the car into the underground parking lot of his building, put it in park, and exhaled slowly. Chapter 1 Valerie POV With trembling hands, I stared at the A4 paper with me in shock, refusing to register the realization before me written" DIVORCE AGREEMENT" "But why Liam, after everything we've been through, why do you think this is the best option" My voice cracked as I struggled to lay hold of the tears staring at my husband and sister clutching to each other's arms. I had just returned to deliver good news to him. After six years of our marriage, I had finally gotten pregnant for Liam. Today was supposed to be our anniversary and I planned on surprising him with it only to come back home and meet my own sister kissing Liam in our matrimonial bed. I had screamed and raised an alarm about it but then Liam had tossed divorce papers in my arms. "Listen Valerie, I never loved you to begin with, our marriage was a mere convenience because you deceived me, don't you understand but then, I married you out of pity but I didn't know you'll become this malicious" He snaps angrily

Valerie POV I gulped down for the tenth time, emotions swimming through me with a mixture of fear and nervousness. My flushed cheeks gradually fading as I clutched to my racing heart. The shock finally registered in my senses. Ryan Devante? Hell no! I What the hell am I still doing here? I should be on my heels but here I am, fondling nervously with my fingers, trying to freeze down the pores of heat that already enveloped my hands. Suddenly, there was a ring. A familiar ring and it buzzed in my dress. It was my phone and thankfully, there would be an excuse to escape from here. I moved my hands slowly towards my pocket and brought it out. Glancing at the screen, I saw the caller and almost threw it at the wall but I knew better than anyone to remain calm and collected. "Hello" I picked up with Ryan's eyes running a scrutiny on my body and making me shudder with trepidation. "Where the hell are you, Valerie, you're not supposed to leave the fucking house!" Liam, my
