Giovanni’s POV
I have never been in debt, but I was indebted to Molly Campbell. I searched and searched but heard she had relocated from Alaska where she was schooling by the time we last met.
Losing hope was not an option, and I vowed to make it up to her. Hearing that she had gotten married after the scandal broke my heart, but I respected the man who married her.
He must truly love her and should indeed be a better person than me. All I wanted was to make it up to her. She just had to make a wish, and it would be granted.
My life was messed up, and I knew she would never be mine again, but hearing from Nora that she was at the club, all the strange feelings returned, and I left the executive meeting to go see her.
I arrived at the club and heard that she couldn’t be found. My heart could not hold it, but I soon realized that just like in the past, there were still so many enemies around her.
Meeting her with those two men, it was obvious that there was someone behind them, so I instructed the bodyguards not to kill them.
In the presidential suite, I told Nora to prepare the bath and then I questioned Molly. “What happened to you?”
My heart broke with her response. Not the part about her insisting that I quench her desires from the drug, but the revelations about her failed marriage.
“He tricked me and took everything. My sister was behind it all.”
I had completely forgotten about her sister back then because she was never a good one. Well, Molly might hate me for this, but I would rather endure it than lose her again.
I called my secretary on the phone to prepare the marriage documents and have them delivered.
This was what I always wanted to do when everything was over, but I couldn’t find her. I tried to get to her when I heard of the scandal, but she disappeared like the wind.
Now that she confessed to being divorced, I wasn’t going to allow any man to claim her, making her sign the marriage certificate and sealing it with a ring.
I gave her some medications and water to help her sleep well, but that was when the demon in me awoke. I first went to see Ursula, and somehow, she made things easy.
“Please, Mr. Dawson. I only did it because I was told she was a homewrecker,” Ursula was confessing and begging without my asking.
One of my bodyguards, Zak, already had her tied to a chair. This was a storeroom in the club, so there was a lot of noise. Nonetheless, I needed the culprit.
“Who told you she was a homewrecker?”
I had heard so many evil things spread about Molly on the lips of the media that I grew numb to it, having most of it erased but there was one thing I could not do and that was erasing it on people’s minds.
Molly had closed down all her social media accounts, so I couldn’t believe that people still harbored hatred towards her, even when she was not found guilty.
“Her sister, Kiara. Molly stole her husband for two years, and she wanted to teach her a lesson.”
So, it was that evil sister of hers. I never knew it was so bad between them but could she be behind the scandal too? I had to investigate it all but right now, I needed everyone who caused Molly any form of pain punished.
“How did she know that Molly was here?”
I knew I had changed and it was one of the reasons Molly might not like me but sometimes, things do happen and a man has to do what he has to do to survive.
Some of those things turned me into the demon in white people were calling me but I could not care about it for as long as they lacked the courage to say it to my face.
“She said that she had someone follow her after being chased from the house.”
“So, you hired those men?”
“No, they work for Kiara. She said she wanted Molly’s last shred of dignity destroyed by having her raped and recorded, so that no one would want her. Please, all I did was to get Nora away from her and inform the guys.”
“So, you knew this and yet still went ahead to inform them so she would be raped.”
“She deserves it. Four years ago, she did it with her producer, destroying his marriage, and now she was doing it to her own sister. I’m just standing up for a sister.”
There was no remorse whatsoever in her countenance and that caused my fury. “Did you take time to find out the truth in the things you were told?”
I was finding it hard to control my anger anymore but she had nowhere to run so there was no rush in dealing with her.
Confusion sat on her face, but I had no time for fools and ordered Zak. “Declare her missing.”
I was glad for the music because Ursula’s screams were deafening. It wasn’t just her, but all those who messed with Molly in the past would have to pay. I went to the two men after that.
“Mr. Dawson, please, we were paid to do a job.”
In contrast, they were rather remorseful of their actions but had I not gotten there on time, another terrible news about Molly would have trended.
“Which you did well.” I couldn’t help the sarcasm in my voice and anyone who knew me, knew I never tolerate things like this.
“Please, we are sorry. Can you let us go?” One of the men asked, making me want to destroy him instantly but I needed information.
“Only if you can expose your sender.”
“It’s her sister and her ex-husband. This is the video they gave us to send to her.” My bodyguards had taken the phone from him so they could only beckon with their head at the direction it was.
I took the phone and said to Jace, “declare them missing.” With the two men tied to their chairs, it was very easy, and they had no idea what my words meant until their heads were separated from their bodies.
Only then did I feel relieved. It was just the beginning, and everything on their phone would help me take down the main culprits.
I didn’t stain my white attire but felt dirty around them, so I went to shower and laid beside Molly in a comfortable pajama. Not able to take my eyes off her, I was soaked in the memories of the past.
This woman saved my life and that was when she became a part of it but along the way, I let her down and I couldn’t forgive myself for it.
Wrapping my arms around her waist, I heard her mumble some words before she fell back asleep.
I hadn’t slept so peacefully in a long time, but I did so with her in my arms, startled awake by soft movements.
Watching through the corner of my eyes, Molly was awake. Her back was turned, and her long wavy blonde hair cascaded down her back.
I missed her so much, but as if looking for something, she picked up her phone and headed to the door after looking my way once.
I closed my eyes to ensure that I wasn’t caught, but hearing her footsteps and opening my eyes to see the ring being tossed away, how could I let her go?
My heart rate was already out of proportion, fearing what her reaction would be if she found out it was me, Giovanni Dawson.
I don’t know how I moved so fast, but by the moment her hand touched the knob, I had her pinned behind the door.
“Is this how you repay me after I saved your life?”
There was a look of remorse in her eyes, followed by shock, and finally, replaced by anger, her words shredding my heart into pieces.
Molly’s POV“Kitty, I love you." That was what my husband confessed when we were making love last night. Romantic, right? Except that my name isn’t Kitty. "Who is Kitty?" I asked him in his drunken state. My arms froze around his body.He never called me that before.Wesley hardly came home after our honeymoon, blaming it on work. Sometimes, I would see him once a month, but if I was lucky, twice.Last night was one of those times when I tried to get some intimacy from him because, after our wedding night approximately a year and a half ago, he never initiated it. I knew that alcohol could give people the courage to do or say things they wouldn't normally entertain, so when he pushed me onto our bed, I was beyond ecstasy. As an orphan, my husband was my everything, and I gave him my all. My love, affection, assets, and everything that defines me. He accepted me at my darkest point in life, and I had sworn to love him my whole life.I don’t know if I was being insecure, but when the
Molly“Daddy, daddy!" A little boy of around four years, looking exactly like my husband, ran to his side. Gasps erupted around the room, and I could feel the stunned silence enveloping us like a thick fog. Guests exchanged bewildered glances, their expressions morphing from curiosity to disbelief. Not only that, the mansion my husband claimed to build for me had pictures of himself and a woman displayed everywhere. Intimate photos that caused the gazes of these strangers to pin on me.I must have endured a lot of shame in my life but for a husband welcoming me into a house he claimed to build for me on our anniversary day having these kinds of pictures, I wanted to dig a hole and bury myself in it, the disgrace, causing my knees to wobble.A cold realization hit me. I was the one who came between them. We got married after two months of dating, so I knew Wesley for exactly two years and two months, whereas he had a son who was over three.I did not get the chance to stabilize myself
Molly's POV“Molly. Molly Campbell," a female voice yelled my maiden name right at the entrance. I turned around, about to leave, but she caught up to me and held me by the shoulder."Molly, where have you been?" She asked, warmth and relief resonating from her. However, I had faced too much betrayal to trust anyone or believe that she genuinely cared. What if she was there to mock me like the others before? "It’s nothing. I have to go," I turned to leave, but she blocked my path. Our eyes met, and I could see the hurt in her eyes. Yet, she still comforted me."It’s okay. I can give you a shoulder to lean on. You can’t be coming here alone in this hour looking like shit for no reasons. We weren’t exactly friends, but that doesn’t mean I don’t care or believe in the rumors."Nora was one of my backup singers by then, and her care broke me into pieces. What I so desired from family, I was getting from a stranger I never cared much about before."All I want is something to ease the pain.
Nora’s POVMolly Campbell was a star. Her music traveled to nations, and every man wanted to have her. Women envied her back in the days until the unfortunate incident, resulting in her nickname, ‘Beauty without brains.’Most of her fans said she slept with producers for her fame, but I knew it wasn’t true. Molly was very kind-hearted and decent. When I wanted to join her backup singers without experience, she accepted me with open arms when my voice passed the test, something other celebrities rejected me for. That kindness never left my mind, but when she fell, so was the end of my career as a backup singer too, ending up as a waitress until I received a mind-blowing proposal three years ago.Giovanni Dawson, the CEO of Dawson’s Group, purchased this club from its original owner and gave it to me to manage, just as he did with the ones in other states, but there were conditions. His men had informed him about my relationship with Molly, and she was the one he was looking for. After
