When Ash finally let me go, I hurried out of his house and booked a cab to take me back home.

"That was close," I told myself on my way home. I hoped Angel would be willing to play along and act like my crippled sister. I had thought that after hearing about my made-up family problems, Ash would be discouraged from asking my supposed family to move into his house with me.
