Chapter 5

I woke up at four am and went hunting before everyone woke up. But it seemed that I was not the only one, the girl was training. I stood there for a while watching her train. She is good but she could improve on a few things. I got tired of just watching and went to her. “You have speed, but you are not using it well. Come train with me and I will show you.” I said when I got behind her.

She stiffened when she heard my voice then turned slowly. She is a short little thing but fierce at the same time. I do not know why she fears me so much and why it makes me angry. She is not the first to fear me and fear fuels me. But her fear makes me sick, it makes me feel like a monster and I never minded that before she came along.

“Are you just going to stand there or are we going to train.” I am angry, she is shaking like a leaf being blown by the wind. Why the hell is she so scared of me? I don’t have scars on my face, I am just huge, so people say, and I am not ugly either. Why do I scare her so much? I snap my fingers in front of her and she jumps then takes her fighting stance.

“Good stance but you have to work on that, your stance alone tells me that you are weak.” She smirks, okay, she might not be as scared as I thought she was then if she can smirk at me like I just said something stupid. “That is the whole point alpha, you see when my opponent looks at me like you now, they think I am weak and an easy target. Which works in my favor in the fight.”

Element of surprise, she is a warrior indeed, “Good point.” I say but do not give her a chance to say anything else as a lunge at her. I see the surprise in her eyes, but she dodges just in time and moves to the side. “Always expect the unexpected,” I tell her, but she does not answer and instead she lunges at me, but I block her just in time before her fist comes into contact with my cheek.

“Good but you are not fast enough, you are short, and you have speed. Use that to your advantage, don’t give your opponent enough time to predict your next move, your attacks must come one after the other, that will make your opponent lose focus and you can get them that way.” She nods and we go again. I see her applying what I just told her and is doing it well.

I smiled a bit pleased with her progress, she is good, and I think training is the only time she forgets her fear of me. It is a pity that I am leaving today, I would have loved to train her more. ‘Since when do you train people.?’ My beta’s voice rings in my head. ‘I am not.’ He chuckles. ‘Yes, alpha, I see that you are not.’ He teased. Why in the Goddess’s name am I even wasting my time training her?

She is not even a member of my pack and yet here I am training her. I stopped abruptly then turn and walked to my beta without looking back. my heart says I must tell her that I am leaving today but my mind says I should not bother. I followed my mind and kept my mouth shut. Who the hell is she for me to be reporting my movements too?

“How was your hunt this morning alpha?” asked JP with a smirk on his face, I glared at him and he chuckles. “My apologies alpha, I forgot that you didn’t go hunting today but because you were busy training strangers. How was training then alpha?” he can be a pain sometimes. “Don’t you have anything better to do?” I asked him annoyed by his presence. No, it is not his presence that is annoying me but his questions.

I do not have an answer to them, and it is frustrating. “Oh, I do, I came to get the girl.” I snap my head and look at him. I feel my anger rising and I clenched my fists to suppress it. “Why do you want her?” he raises his eyebrow before answering. “It’s time for her to go help make breakfast, not unless you still want to go hunting. But I will not eat cereal again not after tasting her food. I would rather go buy breakfast.” He says with a frown on his face.

It is funny because he did not have a problem with the breakfast served in the pack until yesterday. “You do know that she will have to go back to her pack sooner or later, right?” he frowns, and his eyes lit up again. “Then I will make sure that Liza and the others learn to make the kind of food she does so that when she is gone, we can still have good food.” He tells me with a wide smile like he just came up with an idea to save the world.

“Good plan JP,” I tell him as I walked away, I stop in my tracks when I hear laughter then turned and looked back. JP and the girl are laughing together. What could he have told her that made her laugh like that? I frowned not liking that they were being friendly that way. I walked away again after shaking my head trying to get back to my senses.

I need to leave after breakfast, right now I need to put a distance between me and this girl. I am regretting bringing her here. Getting upstairs I shower then after I went and stood on the balcony looking at the mountain. It looks like there is smoke coming out of there, but I know it is only fog. I need to get there before my pack leaves.

I wonder how old the pups are. I still remember the first time I wet them, it was one of the very cold winters, winter that year was very cruel, it almost killed me. I tried to find a warm place, but I could not escape the cold, my fingers were so cold that I thought they were going to fall off. I do not know what happened but when I woke up, I was warm and when I looked, I was laying on a wolf.

I remember how I relaxed thinking that I was back in the pack and safe. I went back to sleep again only to wake up and find out that I was in a cave with my head laying on a wolf's stomach. I was scared but her pure eyes made him relax; I called Alice my mother because she took care of me and protected me when other wolves wanted me dead.

I had to learn to survive in the jungle fast and stay in my wolf form more often. I grew stronger as the years went by and I was bigger than the other and more vicious than them as well. Soon I was the alpha of the pack because of my strength, ability to protect them, and my skills in finding better ways to escape the cold and avoid trouble.

They became my family and they looked after me better than my own father and pack ever did. When I was nineteen three years ago, I decided to come back and make things right. All that time they're sitting and learning to survive I was waiting for my father to come for me. To get me home but as years went by, I knew that he was not coming.

That maybe he thinks that I died a long time ago. I came back only for him to ask why I did not just die in the evil mountain when he said that I lost it and killed him then took over the pack. That day a lot of things became clear to me, one of them being that my father never wanted me and that he left on that mountain to die.

I also understood that he did not need a reason to leave me there, he was just cruel and heartless. I do not know what I was thinking believing that he was trying to make me stronger by leaving me there. But what did I know? I was only a kid and naïve. The man killed his mate with his bare hands for nothing at all, I saw him, and he told the pack she died in her sleep.

He saw me standing at the door looking at him while he was strangling her, and he smirked at me. When he was done, he came to me and told me that women were evil and that they did not deserve to live. He made me believe that my mother was evil and wanted me dead. He said he killed her to protect me, and I believed him.

That was one of the reasons I never told anyone what he had done to her. ‘Breakfast is ready and today we have an even wider spread. I mean there are lots and lots of different delicious foods here you must come down and taste it. oh, I think I am going to ask her to be my chosen mate.’ My beta rumbles in my head, I did not mind what he was saying until he mentioned taking her as his chosen mate.

A growl ripped through my chest coming out of my mouth more vicious than I intended. ‘You will do no such thing.’ I tell him then cut the l**k. Why in the hell will he want her as his chosen mate? And since when does he care about a mate anyway? If he wants a mate, he can go look for his true mate, but he is not taking her
