I was grateful for the distraction. “You’re thinking about volunteering too?” I washed my hands, checked dinner was on the right track and motioned for her to settle her computer on the bar, to check the website.

“Zoey and a few more volunteers are working to set up a parallel project for the foundation that runs the food bank,” Steph explained, back to her energetic self. “Delivering groceries for elderly people in this area. Folks too old, or with health issues that keep them from going to the bank, even if they need to.”

“That’s a nice idea. What do they have in mind?”

“Doorstep delivery to keep it safe for everybody, and waiting in the car for the person to come out and pick it up, to make sure nobody steals it.”

I nodding, browsing through testimonials. “They should think of something for old folks who cannot lift the box and carry it inside by themselves.”

Steph’s eyes widened. “You’re right! I gotta tell Zoey about it.”
