(Leigh’s POV)

Alfie and his big mouth shared in his vlog how our day ended yesterday, and even without telling who the client was, it somehow showed a few seconds of us, Alex kissing me passionately on the lips after the pronouncement. Kayla, my sister, and one of his few followers saw the video, and the news spread like wildfire in the forest.

I was doing my early stretching when my phone rang. It was my brother’s Carlos, and when I ignored the call, I had another call.

I found myself panicking and screaming, running like crazy to the open bathroom, forgetting that my Adonis husband was taking a shower.

When he asked me my problem, I completely forgot about it as my eyes darted on his majestic shaft. I have never seen a real one in my entire life, except in pictures from my science classes, but is this what they call long, massive. All I know is he seems to be blessed, and I gasped, feeling lucky we never get to consummate the marriage because I could not imagine him inside me. Heat crept my cheeks, having wild thoughts of him inside me.

“Can I join you in the shower?”

I meant it as a joke, but when he stepped outside the glass partition, grabbing my hand, I closed the door immediately and ran screaming back to the bed. I was laughing at my mischief for a while, and my cheeks were blushing as I remembered his nakedness.

Alexander Hearst finds me tapping my cheeks as I try to focus on my problem. He is not smiling when he comes out of the bathroom, but I am too anxious with something else to notice he is mad at me. I am biting the cuticle of my fingernail as I stare at my phone. Since I have different ringtones for each family member, someone might think I am listening to mash-up songs.

“Aren’t you going to answer that?” He asks as he opens his bag.

I glance at him and nod quickly. When my phone rings again, my trembling hand takes it and accepts the call.

“Give the phone to my daughter!” yells the great Carlito, a greeting from my father.

I force a smile. “You’re talking to her now, Papa.”

“Don’t you dare call me papa! No, you’re not my daughter! My daughter has a sense of self-respect and love for her family, enough to let us know that she was getting married!” He screams furiously, causing me to back away from the phone. He almost damaged my eardrum.

“Papa, I’m going home today, and I will explain everything to you,” I said in a calm voice, following Alex with my eyes as he searched for his clothes in the bag. I wave at him, and then I point his stuff on the bed.

He furrows his forehead for a few seconds but walks towards the bed.

“You’d better come home, Kayleigh! Make sure to bring your husband, and we’ll all give you both a beating!” My father yells again, causing me to quiver my lips.

Bring my husband?

He should just ask me to buy him a sack of potato or rice. It would be easier than talking and explaining to Alex about my situation.

“Baby,” It is my mother’s voice, taking the phone from my father.

I close my eyes, wanting to punish myself now as I hear her cry.

“Ma…” My voice trails off, sighing deeply that I just want to melt and disappear.

“Just bring your husband, okay?” She sniffs and continues. “You have to stay for the night. I have already cleaned your room. Your Abuela is asking for you, too.”

I press my lips, blinking my eyes and thinking of what I am supposed to feel today. It is like my father threw me hot water, then my mother splashed me cold water, and now, Abuela, boiling water.

“Kayleigh!” My grandmother’s voice was cheery, but I imagined her glaring at me.

“Granny!” I copy her tone of voice as my eyes glance at Alex, who gives me a cup of coffee.

“Black, sugar, or with cream?” He mouthed as he watched me with amusement.

“With cream,” I answer, forgetting I am still talking to my grandmother.

“With cream?” My Abuela repeated, and then she screamed. “What do you mean with cream?”

I cringe. “The coffee, Granny,” I roll my eyes as I explain. “My devoted husband is asking me how I like my coffee, and I said, with cream,”

“Give the phone to him. I want to talk to him,”

“He’s busy,” I answered abruptly. I will never let my family talk to him. I will never let them know about him because I hardly knew Alexander Hearst, for one.

“Kayleigh David!” She yelled, making my heart stop beating. “Give him the phone!”

The tears I held in the corners of my eyes rolled to my cheeks. Whenever she calls me with my full name in that tone, my heart flies outside the universe. Alex snatched the phone from my hand and sandwiched the phone between his ear and shoulder as he cleared the table and placed my breakfast in front of me.

“Good morning, Granny!” He greeted in a voice that was enough to melt my heart, hoping Abuela’s too.

Did Alexander just morph into an angel?

After a short while, he answered, “Sure, Granny,” He placed my phone on the table and turned on the speaker.

“Our family wants to meet you, Alexander,” Abuela said in a soft voice, causing me to sneer. “When are you coming?”

“I’d love to meet you, too. We’ll be there before lunch or dinner. We don’t have specific plans yet,” Alex uttered. “Would you like us to bring you anything?” He asked sweetly.

My eyes rolled, never imagining he had that side in him, charming.

“Just bring my granddaughter back, and I hope you made sure you got her pregnant on your first night,”

My eyes widened, shocked by her. “Abuela!” I grumbled.

“What?” She chimed in. “We know it’s good timing, and we know you’re ovulating,”

“Dios Mio!” I exclaim, making Alex chuckle and look at me with amusement in his eyes.

“Alexander,” My grandmother called, making him raise his eyebrows and wait for whatever she had to say. “Make sure to let Leigh sleep on the right side of the bed, okay?”

“Umm….” He mumbles, not knowing how to answer her. He looks at me as he sips his coffee, asking me what it is for?

“That is to make sure you bring harmony in your relationship, Hijo,” she explained.

I press my lips, suppressing a peal of laughter. I roll my eyes, hoping all these will end. I glance at Alex, waiting for how he would react to my grandmother’s request.

“Sure, no problem, Granny,” He smiles amusedly, shaking his head. “I can’t wait to meet you.”

They exchanged their goodbyes, forgetting me.

“I’m doomed!” I whimper as I sip coffee. I watch him take his phone and call someone.

“George, cancel my flight today, and tell Zyra I’ll talk to her soon.” He said without any greeting, whoever George was.

“You’re leaving?” I ask him. “You don’t have to do it,” I want to tell him I will deal with this myself. He was my client, after all.

He shakes his head and sighs as he makes another call.  “Chase,”

Chase, the family lawyer.

My eyes went round, forgetting about the divorce, and I had forgotten about him already. Remembering the divorce, I gasped, and my face was stricken with panic. I could hardly explain to my family about the wedding, and now I had to break the news that I was divorcing my husband.

“No need to come today. I have no plans of divorcing my wife today,” he says, making me look at Alex with questions on my face.

I snatch the phone from him this time, turning on the speaker to listen to the call.

“Er… why? I’ll just finish my breakfast, process the papers, and we could meet by lunchtime,” I heard Chase say, and then he gasped. “Alexander did you--”

“No,” He cut him right away. “Something just came up, and we’ll have to deal with it first.”

I sigh in relief.

“I don’t believe you, Alex,” Chase chuckled, amused at him. “If you didn’t have sex, then give me one good reason why we should delay this?”

I have plenty of reasons, but Alex surprised me with his answer.

“Hmm…” He looks at me intently, melting me with his beautiful brown eyes. “My wife is ovulating.”

“What!” exclaimed Chase, thinking he heard it wrong.

“I said my wife is ovulating, and this is our good chance to get pregnant,” answers Alex as he gropes his hand on my upper thigh.

You can stop the car there.”“I need a massage later,” I groan, massaging the back of my neck. My eyes give Alex a quick look, and he seems to be amazed at the long table. I hold his hand and tug him to the two vacant seats. We are like in a traditional classroom, always having the same seating arrangement. Papa is seated on the head seat of the table, while Mama is in his right while Granny is on his left. The following would be according to our birth order, and being the youngest, I would be on the farthest end of the table. We usually have dinner outside when we are all together since we do not fit at the long table now that my brothers and sisters have their own family and children, but today, only the adults are in the dining room. Suddenly, I want to join my nephews and nieces in the backyard, enjoying their dinner.

When I saw Seb’s name on my cellphone’s screen, Alex told me I had to answer it, reminding me I could not avoid Sebastian forever.I walked back to my room and directly went inside the bathroom. I sat inside the bathtub, and for a while, I stared at my phone screen before accepting the call.“Seb,” was the only word I could say. My hands are trembling, and I feel like choking after making such an impulsive decision. An intelligent person would not opt for that irresponsible choice.“Sweetheart, finally,” Seb said as soon as he heard my voice. The worry, instead of anger, in his voice, melted my heart away. “I met Alfie this morning, and he explained to me everything.”I started to bawl like a child. When

I have completely forgotten the slimy thing I touched on the tree branch. Why?” My eyes went round again.“Because it’s easier to tell your parents we want a divorce after finding out you’re not really pregnant.” His eyebrows knitted. “I overdid the act, telling them you’re delayed, so they’ll be expecting.”I nod, agreeing with him. “You’re right, but it’s a better excuse because he planned to place me in the sack and hang it in the kitchen.”“That’s

Leigh and I laughed as we watched Alfie’s video that he had sent us. I saw myself as tears rolled down my cheeks as I claimed her mouth, tasting the sweetness of my wife’s lips and feeling the overflowing happiness that we had finally renewed our vows. We were seated on the couch, facing the king-sized bed where the twins slept soundly. “Renewal of vows,” Leigh whispered as she leaned her head on my shoulder. “When I saw you and Chase talking this morning -” I cut him. “He was telling me the big problem I’d face if I continued my plan of marrying Zyra.” Her almond-shaped eyes gaped at me, looking at me with wonder. “Why didn’t you sign the divorce papers, Alex?” I planted a kiss on her hair. “Because I always hoped we will have our chance, Leigh.” “Me, too,” She smiled, but her eyes squinted and asked me, “When they said that the groom was missing, I

Kayla placed little Alexander in his stroller while Ellen approached me, taking baby Amanda from me.Elle opened the door and helped me fix the skirt of my wedding gown.“An update, Elle?” I asked her.“Alfie’s fixing the problem,” she said, glancing at my sisters, who padded out of the room. She laughs nervously when she notices I am worrying and don’t know what to pick first. “Focus, Leigh. This is your wedding. You’re not the one who loses the groom, so give that beautiful smile and have a blast,” she said, picking up my bouquet and giving it to me.“I just saw him a while ago -” My voice trailed off, realizing it was nonsense to talk about him now. “And why are you here? We could spend our time there as one family, and when the twins are one or two, maybe we could all travel together.“Beer?” Royce asked, giving me a bottle of beer.I smiled, taking the bottle.“Reconsidering?” He sat on the wooden bench, gazing at the sky.“About Leigh or the twins?” I smirked, causing him to chuckle. He drank his beer, giving me a silent answer to tell him my plans for them.“As much as I hated Leigh for lying to me, I still love her, Royce,” It was easier to be honest to him than tell Leigh my feelings.
