Branch Two Hundred and Forty

When Jessica woke up in the morning she felt her head bang so much she wanted to lay back down. The thoughts she had carried with her all night were exhaustive and she could not think about how she could go about it.

She needed to make breakfast but she needed to avoid Xavier. She would also need to go into the room, have her bath, and prepare to go out. Her heart pounded in her chest as she thought about what she had to face.

She opened the door and peeked out. The house was silent except for the little noise by the staff. They were always awake before her and did their duties. They made her work easier too.

She tiptoed to the kitchen. The reason she did that was unclear to her but she did it anyway. He could be downstairs today. When she safely made it to the kitchen she sighed in relief and closed the door. Her hand was still on the door when she a voice that startled her behind her.
