As Xavier let go of her hand for a moment she felt her leg give way as she felt weak and then fell to the ground with a long thud. Xavier who was worried looked at her on the floor not moving or saying anything. He put his finger next to her nose to feel if she was still breathing. Her breathing was slow but it was still there. She was still alive. Xavier helped her back up and did not let go of her hand until he was able to put her back on the bed. "Jessica what's wrong?" he asked worried. He had never had the chance to experience something as such. His hand grazes over her bare skin as he tried to drop her to the bed. He felt her fever coming up. She was burning hotter than freshly brewed coffee. Jessica mumbled incoherent words to him. She did not know how to explain to him that it was just her menstrual cycle that was acting up and causing her to hang to life by a thread. "Stay here, let me ask Roselle for help," Xavier said going out of the room. Jessica's eyes opened sligh
Xavier rushed back up and picked up Jessica in bridal style. He felt at that moment that she was light as a feather. He carried her and rushed down the stairs. "Angel, we would be back soon," Roselle told Angel who was coming out of the kitchen to see a rare sight of Xabier carrying a woman and Roselle rushing after him. It dawned on Angel that something could be wrong with the new young lady of the house. Before Angel could process to respond, both parties were out of the house and far from hearing what she had to say. She moved back to the kitchen to resume her duties. Xavier was getting worried. How did this woman sleep on the same bed and he did not notice that she was sick up to this extent? "Please drive faster," Xavier told the driver. He felt like the driver was taking his time and that Jessica was slowly slipping from in between his fingers. "He is well between the speed limits" Roselle answered from beside the driver. "Do not fear it would not be long before we get the
The doctor moved Jessica to a private VIP ward as directed by Xavier. She did not know how long she had been sleeping when she opened her eyes. She felt a sharp pain in her lower abdomen as she looked around. She sat up gently and looked around she saw Xavier sitting on the sofa in the far corner of the room. "Stay down," he said walking up to her. "What of work?" she asked blinking multiple times like an innocent child. "I'm the next Chairman," Xavier said with so much pride dripping from each word. He already assumed the role of the chairman but since his grandfather was still alive everyone still address Dawson as the chairman. Jessica wondered bow she had already forgotten to who she got married. "I said lie down, the doctor said you needed all the rest you could get," Xavier said with the fear that was reflected in his eyes in the morning still lingering. "How long have I slept for?" Jessica asked ignoring his order to sleep. "It's past two pm so it's been about five hours
As the sun began to set Jessica looked out through the large glass window that made everything in her eye line beautiful. The sunset was beautiful to behold. Jessica has been praying that the sun should set quickly so that Xavier could finally go home. It was obvious that he was trying to be of help but Jessica was getting uncomfortable with him around. He did not allow her to move an inch from the bed and served her all afternoon. It was such a sight. If Dawson had seen these he would have added his private assets to Xavier's name and even die a content man. Xavier was being helpful intentionally and it was scaring Jessica. The end of the month signified that they were already a month wedded but she still did not feel comfortable around him. Jessica made both breakfast and dinner every day for him and not for once has he offered help. She did not even bother to ask for help because she could do it all herself and with the help of a little kitchen staff and she doubted he would com
"I must say you are a beauty to behold," Leslie says sitting g and pulling the chair closer to the bed. She puts her elbow on the bed and plops her head on her palm. If not that Leslie's eyes were twinkling and her sincerity was flowing through Jessica would just pass it off as flattery between the upper-class ladies. "Let's be best of friends," Leslie says again taking her hand. "Okay," Jessica responds. Leslie sounds too kind for her to turn down and she had no friends so finding one in the upper-class cycle would even be the best solution for her. Since Leslie was willingly sincere and honest, she could take advantage of the opportunity in case she needed anything. She did not know what situation may arise that would make her need her but it's better to have a weapon and not use it than to need a weapon and not have it. "As soon as you leave here we are going on some bonding exercises to ensure we stick together as glue," Leslie said a squeal finishing her sentence. Since Le
"Must I go?" Xavier asked with a big frown drawing up on his face. He did not know the reason why Brian was forcing him to go get coffee at the end of the day but he did not want to go. Brian acted as if the cries and pleas made by his boss fell on deaf ears and pulled him out of the room and out the hallway. "Why?" Xavier murmured. Brian was uninterested in placating his friend and stroking his ego. He continued to walk towards the elevator. Xavier got on with him. "Why were you hiding your wife?" Brian asked closing the door. The reason for the escape was so he could ask his questions. "Hiding her?" Xavier asked as if Brian was asking something stupid. "Yes, like I'm your best friend why do I have to meet her for the first time while she is hospitalized?" Brian asked again. He feels like there must be a reason why Xavier would not brag about his beautiful wife. It could do the business well. Most people tend to companies that have owners with happy and stable families. "Ther
Jessica watched as they got out and the room fell silent. Ever since Leslie got inside she had been going on and on nonstop about everything she found worth talking about. Now that she was alone she missed the chatter. She was only glad she was able to successfully uproot Xavier who had refused to leave the hospital room all day. She stretched to retrieve the remote from the cupboard and switched it on to a soap opera. She was not a fan of television but watching the soap opera would let her sleep faster. The door to the room opened and Angel popped her head inside and smiled. She has been worried about the young lady since she was rushed out in the morning and she had volunteered with all her might to be the one who brought dinner for the young lady. "Hello Young lady," Angel said walking in with a lunch box and closing the door behind her. Jessica unconsciously uttered a sigh of relief. The silence was killing her and it was barely an hour. She has slept all afternoon and now ev
Meanwhile, Xavier, Brian, and Leslie are sitting down to dinner at the restaurant of a seven-star hotel. "Why did you not have a big ceremony?" Leslie asked throwing some table chips into her mouth. "Because I did not want to" Xavier answered. Although Xavier was with few words he had to always answer when it came to Leslie. She would push him to the extreme and force him to answer. That was her style. "But it's every woman's dream to walk down the aisle and throw her bouquet while round to greet the guest," Leslie said dreamily her mind going back to the day of her wedding. Xavier looks uncomfortable and picks up the menu. They had ordered their food and the chef was making it but her statements and questions were getting on his nerves already. "Do not tell me that you did not ask for her opinion and it got married in the courthouse" Leslie said using her palm to cover her wide-opened mouth. "Does she know?" Xavier asked directing the question at Brian. From her constant quest
