Zyrielle's POV

Flicks of water droplets bounced on my skin and I looked up. It was about to rain.

"I guess this is the universe's way of telling us to go home, whatcha think?" Rain spoke quietly.

"Yeah..." I agreed, there was no way that I wanted to be caught up in a heavy downpour. We walked hand in hand again to the car with smiles on our faces.

I was getting scared. It felt as though things were moving too fast and I couldn't help it. "We should grab some tacos on our way home." Rain suggested and I shrugged nonchalantly.

I didn't think that I was really interested in having another bite but didn't want to discourage him. "okay,"

"I'm guessing that means you don't want to." He spoke.

I shrugged carelessly again, "No, it means I don't mind."

"Right... She doesn't want to but is only trying to let me down gently." He said in an exaggerated whisper while staring at me with a small smile.

I blushed at his antics. This was a grown man for crying out loud but he was good at teases

Zyrielle's POV. Today was a hell of a rollercoaster as I tried to make sense of what was happening. One minute, I was at the hospital; the next, I was striding to his office despite my protests. I had come to realize that Rain always enjoyed having his way. It gave him the kick and it made me a bit angry that stuff like this was happening. "You sure are very happy." I gritted under my breath as he placed a palm on my back, sending waves of pleasure through me. "Yeah, I am. I want everyone to know that I'm finally taken. It's a pity how they think I can't woo a woman, a beautiful one at that." He threw his head back and laughed before becoming sober. "My bad, milady." He acted so chivalrously, imitating the English."You are one hell of a character." I retorted. I knew that he was trying to build a connection but I was sure of what would happen afterward, he would let me down like his nephew did. "I don't like such a face. It tells me that you're thinking about something sinister,

Zyrielle's POV. "You know each other?" Rain inquired from both of us and I nodded slowly. I didn't expect that they would know each other, talk more of having a sit-down. I turned towards Douglas with my eyebrow raised in surprise. "What are you doing here?" I inquired, and he was a bit surprised by the way I was asking questions. Well, he had to just tell me the answer, "I work with Mr Rain." He answered briefly and I chuckled. This was a very huge surprise for me because he was also working for me well, under Lucas. I nodded, yet didn't say a word but now I was interested in understanding why he was here. I plopped on a seat without an invitation as my eyes roamed across the room in inquisition. "Alright guys, as you all know this is my wife, Mrs Duncan." Rain announced and I was a bit skeptical about the unnecessary announcement. I would have preferred if he just took a break so that I could relate with these people on normal ground and be able to understand how his

Zyrielle's POV. Three Days Later, I was looking through my box and discovered that I had left some of my gold necklaces back at Lucas's place. It doesn't seem like I couldn't leave them with him, but I also remembered that I had certain documents that I had to retrieve. Dang it! How did I forget so soon? Returning to that house would set a lot of tempers flying, and I had vowed not to step into that place unless I was taking back my mansion. Rain had been actively working to get some clients boarded, which was one of the reasons we hadn't spoken about how this was supposed to go. I, on the other hand, was only just recovering, so I didn't want to be involved in any back-and-forth between me and these people. As soon as I came out of my room, I almost bumped into Freya, who was glaring at me as though I had taken something away from her. I sincerely wasn't in the mood for all this trash she wanted to bring my way but I just had to be as calm as I could be so that I could get my

Chapter 33 Rain's POV. "Where is my wife?" I demanded from Freya who was cleaning the center table. The house was awfully quiet, and my imagination began to run wild. What if she had absconded? I knew she wasn't pleased to be with a stranger but I hoped that one of these days she would understand how I felt. Freya pointed at the drawing room, and I nodded, shaking my head in refusal to allow her to take my bag upstairs. "May I get you anything, sir?" She inquired again and I shook my head. I just had a feeling that something was wrong, and I needed to come to address it. Also, we're supposed to attend the meeting with the second doctor, but I do not understand why I forgot. As I approached the drawing room I heard voices coming from within. "So you are saying she came here a few days ago?" Zyrielle inquired.Who was she speaking to? "I'm not supposed to say this ma'am. I don't think it was Mr Rain who invited her here but she stopped by and left before your return." I heard Meg

Zyrielle's POV."I don't think we would take such option at least not behind her back." I heard a voice saying although I was yet to open my eyes. I felt a bit of reluctance trying to rise. It was as though something was pinning me down and I was contemplating the best way to cry for help. Also, I wanted to hear the basis of the conversation."We should do this as fast as possible, at least before the next month. What do you think?" I had a strange voice ask and I was very much interested in knowing what they were discussing. My eyes fluttered open after a few minutes, and I jumped when a cool arm touched mine. "hey, it's me; you don't need to be afraid." Rain said, smiling down at me. Although his eyes were a bit hooded, I realized that he was hiding something and it was eating him up. I coughed, trying to test my voice. "Thank you for bringing me here. I guess it's the doctor that just left." I answered instantly, clearing my throat again so that I could continue with the convers

Lucas's POV."What do you mean by documents are not complete?" I demanded from Cheryl the minute I saw her the next day. She wore a few dangerous smiles but I was less interested. We had a lot on our hands, so love and a certain level of familiarity weren't needed. "Babe, why are you acting like I'm a stranger? I told you that I would get them to you before the weekend. You've been acting weird lately, I hope there's no problem?" I shook my head in resignation, she refused to understand the gravity of our current situation. "Listen to me babe, we need this piece of information before it is too late. My Uncle isn't going to take it lightly with either of us if he finds out. Investors are already on our next and we need to deliver. There is no excuse whatsoever... So we have to shelf whatever we have and focus on getting the right things so that we can be able to discuss like normal people. I so want to have rest even with them on the prowl." I reminded her. "Okay, I understand this,

Zyrielle's POV. Rain's Residence. "Do you want something else?" Rain inquired as soon as I pushed the bowl of chips away. "Yeah..." I drawled, yet racked my brain coming up with nothing in particular. "Oh... Is this exactly what I think this is?" I asked him as soon as the door opened. The aroma of chicken soup wafted into my nostrils, tickling me and causing me to become alert. "You like?""Yeah, I do." I grinned in anticipation. We hadn't still spoken after the doctor left today and I waited for us to have a discussion. "I knew you would. I would have given up had you also rejected this." He admitted.I appreciated his honesty because I knew that I was stressing the hell out of him but it wasn't intentional anyway. It was just something that kept rising despite me trying my best to be free from it. "You have done a lot. How do I repay you?" His eyebrows were the only thing that signified his attention. "I would prefer in kind." He wiggled his brows and I rolled my eyes. He wa

Zyrielle's POV. "Best shape?" I inquired after he ended the call. I could pick up from what they were saying that there was a problem which probably needed my intervention but they feared that I might not be able to handle it because of a perceived weakness. "I received an information from Mandy informing me that there's a rumor circulating that you sold thirty percent of the company. I know it's a lie but they will expect you to come out to defend yourself probably." Rain informed. "Are you serious?" I asked him. This was strange to me. How Lucas came up with these lies was beyond me?" I don't think the public knows that, because the company is currently undergoing an upheaval which I'm the mastermind. I've been buying shares indiscriminately, so all the partners are beginning to come to companies with my endorsement." He expatiated."I don't understand what's happening. Is my company going under?" "Something like that. Whenever there is a massive buyout, all companies begin to

Zyrielle's POV. "He hits you?" I inquired from her softly. "Tell me you are lying Cheryl. I know that this might be a ploy for you to begin your pity party but..." "Why would I lie about something like that? I am a victim of abuse. Why do you think I demanded a divorce from him? I can play you the videos so that you know that I am not lying." Cheryl said. I refused to believe that she was enduring abuse yet never said anything. Well it could be because she wanted to have everything to herself and right now it was backfiring sweetly. "My goodness... Are you kidding me?" I replied, waiting for her to deny it. She shook her head pitifully and in that instant I didn't know what else to do. "I wouldn't lie about something as grave as that. I am happy that he is behind bars but let's be factual, he wouldn't be staying there for a long time. When he comes out, he would only continue from where he stopped and that is where you come in. You will have to help me fight him. It would be our

Zyrielle's POV. Although a few days had passed yet I couldn't shake off the nagging feeling in my head that I hadn't seen the end of Lucas. He was going to do something one way or the other. I still walked in fear hoping that he was just bluffing and there weren't any nudes on the internet waiting to be released. These thoughts ate deeply into my subconscious and gradually I was beginning to lose my patience. Brenda noticed this because she handled all my meetings with ease and told me to get some rest. It was easier said than done, especially with everything that was going on. A knock drew me out of my thoughts, making me look up. Brenda walked in with a smile on her face. "You have a visitor. Cheryl." She spoke. I wasn't in the mood to discuss with Cheryl despite expecting her after all this while. I knew she was going to come up with something more like an accusation but I wasn't ready to dive into that. I nodded anyway. Putting our meeting off was not going to solve the probl

Zyrielle's POV.Right at that moment a lot of things went wrong with my mental health. I couldn't breathe properly, I began to think of how the media was going to go agog with the current development. I couldn't even fathom how I was going to be able to walk around except if I to prove that it wasn't me in any of those clips he threatened to pull out. "You must be the most delusional person that I have ever met in my entire life. How do you think this is going to favor you in any way? You came here with the intention to threaten us to do what? Will the company to you?" Rain piped up. I wasn't even sure that he had any videos of me but coming from someone who was this desperate, had this sinister plan before I could even find out, nothing was impossible with him. Lucas threw his head backwards and began to laugh. "I wouldn't give out my trade secrets now would I? I came to make a proposition. It's either you return the shares you bought or I do exactly what I said. It doesn't take m

Chapter 117. Zyrielle's POV. "Wakey wakey, rise and shine my sweetheart we need to leave as soon as possible." Rain dragged my feet from under the bed making me grimace in mock anger. I definitely didn't mind whatever he wanted from me as long as it gave me peace. "I told you I had a meeting earlier today. Can we take some time before traveling?" I negotiated so that I could sleep in more. "Nope, because I know you don't have anywhere to go. Courtesy of Brenda who has informed me of your schedule beforehand. So what other excuse do you have?" He inquired, making me a bit worried. "Should I be worried about your stalkerish tendencies?" I grinned into the blanket refusing to show my face. He knew what he was doing and I also wanted to beat him at his game. "Yep... That's why I need you to stand and confront me about it. You cannot just allow me to get away with my stalkerish tendencies." He made quotes in the air. There was no winning with Rain. This man was a smooth neg

Lucas' POV.Cheryl entered my room with a small smile on her face and now I was stunned by this attitude. "Why do you have such a long face? Is anything the matter?" She inquired and I looked around to confirm if she was truly talking to me. "You're acting weird. What's with the newly found attitude? Why are you smiling so much?" I demanded from her. I had a lot of projects at hand and the last thing I wanted to get involved with was making sure that she dampened my mood the most. "Why don't you just keep calm for a minute?" She said, rocking on her feet. "I can't keep calm. I just want some answers from you. How far have you gone with Zyrielle?" "What suddenly makes her your friend? I thought that you wanted me never to talk to her in the first place." I replied. "You warned me categorically to stay away from her so why the useless questions?" She giggled softly before walking towards me. "That was because you refused to defend me in front of your family and watched me get ridic

Zyrielle's POV. That wasn't going to suffice. "Love doesn't cut it most times," I replied angrily before heaving a deep sigh so that I didn't come across as a problematic fellow. Not a lot of things required immediate action. Sometimes, it was good to leave a lot unsaid so that there weren't any worries."I guess what I'm trying to make you understand is that... I would like my opinions to be taken into consideration. I know that you love me. You might want to pay deeper attention to my needs.
