CHAPTER 19 - Their unplanned picnic

In the following days, everyone got busy with their stuff. Today, Selena and Shawn were on their way to Rosewood to visit a film site.

The drive was going smoothly, until out of nowhere, his car stopped in the middle way.

He came out and looked after the car. 

However, the engine stopped working, and there was no mechanic available. 

Then Selena also came out and asked. "What's wrong?"

"I guess the engine is not working."

"What now? Rosewood is far away from here. And if the car is not working, we can't go back as well."

Tired, both glanced around and noticed a bus stop. 

Suddenly, an idea hit her mind as she held his hand and ran towards the bus stop.

They waited for a few minutes and finally; they got on a bus. 

Shawn was standing in a corner, staring at everyone. It was a fresh experience for him. While traveling on the bus for the first time, Shawn felt uneasy. Maybe because he never traveled before. His luxurious life had no experience of how ordinary people survive.

He felt suffocated there, and Selena noticed him.

Luckily, they got seats on the bus. 

She made him sit on the window seat and noticed his growing anxiety. She then took out her earphones and attached them to her phone.

She put one plug to his ear and the other in her ear. Then, playing a soothing song, she started humming it. Lately, his nerves calmed down, and he hummed along with her.

*Just need one day with you. To smile, to cry, to laugh, and to be shy...*

Then, he sang the following line. 

*One hug in your arms made me fall in love again and again. It's difficult to say, but I want to show my love to you. Because..."

*Because you're the only one I love the most, the only one who I can live for long, the only one who I want the most.*

In the soft melody of the song, both of them kept singing while looking at each other. It seemed as if they were expressing their feelings through this song. The lovely image formed in their eyes showered the universe stars.

While listening to her golden voice, when he fell asleep, he did not know.

His head rested over her shoulder, and she stared at him.

He looked like an innocent soul unaware of cruelty. A beautiful smile spread all over her face as she thought about him. "He's so handsome even when sleeping. But at least, he doesn't trouble me while sleeping."

One stop passed, another too, but Shawn hadn't woken up yet. Selena couldn't even wake him up as her heart felt at ease seeing him sleeping comfortably on her shoulder.

She had no choice left but to wait for him.

Both of them were still on the bus until it reached the last stop. The bus driver looked back and asked. "Are you not getting off?"

Selena turned and glanced at Shawn and gently tried to wake him up. She tapped on his arm. "Shawn, wake up! Shawn!"

After trying for a while, he finally got up, and both got off the bus and stood outside. He raised his hands in the air and took a fresh breath.

"I had the most comfortable sleep ever. Thanks for bearing with me, Selena."

She passed a smile at him and checked the time. "It's already evening. We have to stay in this town tonight. I heard there's a festival going on here."

"Are you familiar with this place?"

"Yep! I came here for a picnic with my best friend. Haven't you visited any town before?"

He low-key nodded his head in disagreement. It made her feel sorry for him. 

She thought of making this day the best for him.

Her energy was on the next level. 

She ran ahead and signaled for him to follow her.

"Where are you going?" He asked with a frowned look on his face.

"Follow me. I'll show you around."

She brought him to a handcart shop near the street. The smell of delicious food stuck in his nose as it made him hungry instantly.

Selena ordered two cups of fried baby corn and went back to him.

"This one is my favorite stall ever. Whenever I get time, I visit this town. The food here is so delicious." The guy called her, and she passed one cup to Shawn.

"Try it. You're going to love this."

She held the spoon and took a bite just to say. "WOW!"

Seeing her eating non-stop, Shawn also tasted it. The next moment, he could not believe Street Food could be this tasty. Surely, he never tried this before, as he was not allowed to eat such stuff.

He flashed his eyes. "Yummy!"

The ordinary experience was new to him, but he loved it. Selena made him see the world from another point of view.

He didn't expect the street food could beat those expensive restaurant dishes.

"Do you know, Shawn? Life is beautiful when we live it simply. I know everyone is after money, but joy is hiding in small things. Just like street food, it's not like expensive dishes, but still the better one."

"Actually, you're right. Looking back, I missed all this, but thanks to you, I can still enjoy them."

Her lips curved into a mysterious smile when she leaned over and winked at him. "Then, let me show you something more interesting."

"Stop right there!" He said to Selena, and by leaning forward a little, he wiped the sauce around her lips with his finger. His action made her frown on her spot. 

Her heart danced. It could even break her ribs and come out.

Her eyes paused on his face and didn't want to see anything but just him.

A rare feeling had rushed all over the body along with her blood. She had no control over herself. Immersed in the flow, she lost it when their eyes met, collapsing their worlds together.

Eye contact was so powerful that it could pull anyone in its power.

She looked deep down in his ocean eyes and found her lovely image in it.

Both of them just wanted to stop that moment and live in it for their entire life, but when they heard the voice of the handcart guy, the whole bounded atmosphere spread here and there. He cleared his throat, moving back as a coy smile curved their lips.

She brushed her hair strand back while beaming at the ground. It felt as if this day could change many things between them. Would it draw them closer too?
