Tally awoke before Ryan as the early morning light filtered through the curtains. She turned her head to gaze at him, his peaceful face in deep slumber, and felt a warmth spreading through her chest.

Last night, they had begun bridging the gap between them. This new aspect of their married life had taken her by surprise.
