Chapter Sixty

The next day, Tally returned home from work after Ryan because she had stopped at the grocery store to pick some things up for dinner. Ryan was already there, his expression serious. He was standing by the window, looking out at the skyline. She could sense that something was on his mind, and her heart skipped a beat as she wondered what he was thinking about. With so many things unresolved between them. Tally knew she had read too much into every expression from him lately.

“Hey,” she said softly, stepping into the room. “You look like you’ve got a lot on your mind.”

Ryan turned to face her, his eyes dark with emotion. “I do,” he admitted. “I invited Noah over. I need to tell him the truth about everything.”

Tally felt a pang of sympathy for both men. Noah deserved to know the truth, but she knew it would be devastating for him. “Are you sure this is the right time?” she asked, her voice gentle as she placed her shopping bags in the kitchen.
