Alpha Apollo’s POV

Seth halted in front of me, extending the baby in his arms. "Who is this?" I asked, peering down at the child. It was a baby boy, his little lips a vivid shade of purple, his eyes bright red and closed. Fear gripped me at the sight.

"Who is—" I began, but Seth interrupted before I could ask again.

"He is Zelda's son, I mean your son, you know what I mean," he replied. "Take him. He's... he's dead," Seth said, his voice heavy with sorrow. My heart clenched as I swiftly took the child from him, cradling him in my hands for the first time since his birth.

"Blood," Hawk exclaimed within me, his excitement evident as I gazed down at the lifeless baby in my arms. My body felt numb, rooted in place.

"Son, blood," Hawk added.

"Why are you telling me this now? And why have you refused to answer me, you idiot?" I questioned, but received no response. "Don't bother answering, you useless and stupid wolf. I wish I had another wolf," I insulted him, tears welling up at the corne

My bare feet met the cold floor, accompanied by Carter, his body covered in dirt from a night spent digging graves for the deceased, alongside other warriors. Though I hadn't participated, sleep had eluded me, knowing I would never lay eyes on Zelda's beautiful face again. The primal instincts of my wolf simmered beneath the surface, ready to unleash fury upon anyone who dared cross our path. I was on my way to Apollo's packhouse, regardless of his culpability in Zelda's death or the excuses he had fed Carter. I refused to be deceived."On the count of two, and we drop it together," I instructed, locking eyes with Carter, standing before a black van parked outside the packhouse."One, two," I counted, as we coordinated our movements, sliding the casket into the open back of the van. Stepping back, I watched as Carter closed the doo

Alpha Apollo’s POVI let out a deep, menacing growl as my gaze remained fixed on Ryder. "You shouldn't have done that. Attacking me will be the gravest mistake of your life," I warned, my voice taking on a cruel tone. Licking the blood off my fingers, I extended my claws and took purposeful strides toward Ryder. His expression transformed from surprise to determination. Before I could reach him, Carter positioned himself between us. "Please, don't fight him. He's not in his right mind, he doesn't know what he's doing," Carter pleaded. "Who? Me or Ryder?" I questioned him."Ryder. He hasn't slept since Zelda's death. He doesn't know what he's saying. You should ignore him. You two should focus on bringing the person responsible to justice," Carter advised.I took a deep breath, attempting to calm myself, but Ryder's next words shattered any chance of that. "You know what, Apollo? I did it! I tampered with the DNA results. Do you know why? Because you don't deserve someone like Zelda. S

He quickly reached out and grasped the right door of the gate, preventing me from closing it."Remember, I was the one who suggested you take her in for some time," he said, locking eyes with me. "You never wanted to take her in, commit, or have a family. Don't give me that bullshit about ruining your life." Ryder's words hit me, but I couldn't help but chuckle."Are you serious right now, man? You only advised me to keep her so you could play the good guy. And when it came to proving if the child was truly mine, you sabotaged it just because you wanted her. You're a psycho, Ryder. Go and be with Hazel and stop ruining other people's lives!" I yelled at him, my voice filled with anger. I turned to Carter, who was standing behind me, engaged in a hushed conversation with Seth."Hey, Carter, go join your alpha before I throw you out like him," I snapped at him."But first, I need our van b

Carter asked, concerned, as he observed me leaning my head against the partially open car window, feeling the cool breeze on my face."...I think you should get some rest. You really need it," Carter's words reached me, but tiredness weighed heavily on my eyelids. I struggled to keep them open."I don't want to sleep, Carter. I can't sleep," I replied, my voice rising as I leaned closer to him, making it harder for him to focus on the road."You need to sleep. And tell me, was everything you told Apollo the truth? Did you really tamper with the DNA results?" Carter inquired. I swallowed hard, fixing my gaze upon him."Yes! Yes, I did it! But I was deeply in love with Zelda. She was beautiful, intelligent, and captivating. She was the whole package. It's not my fault that Apollo failed to recognize that. But now, I'm the one drowning in misery because I can't fucking sleep," I confessed,

The doctor had assured me that he would recover after a blood transfusion in a few hours. Sitting on the bed, I held a needle in my hand, watching as the blood flowed through a tube into his tiny body. He was the son I had never known existed.Hawk broke the silence, speaking up for the first time after hearing the devastating news of our mate's death. "You could have prevented all of this, you know," he said."How?" I asked, my voice filled with anguish."If only you hadn't been so heartless and rejected having a woman in your life when Zelda claimed to be carrying your child. We could have avoided this tragedy, and she wouldn't have met her end. Perhaps all of this is connected to someone you killed, maybe it has something to do with Alpha Nathan and—" I interrupted him."Who the hell are you to lecture me now? You weren't there for me whe

Alpha Apollo’s POVThe moonlight bathed the garden of my packhouse in a magnificent glow as I stood at the edge of the somber gathering. The mournful sounds of Mina's parents and my father echoed through the air, their sorrow intense. Despite our strained relationship, I never wished for Mina's demise."It's okay to grieve, but we can try for another child," my uncle whispered to his wife, holding her tightly against his chest. Tears streamed down her face, her cries filled with despair. Given their age, I doubted having another child was possible. I sniffled, clutching my chest as a pang of anguish struck me once again."This is the second time we've lost a loved one. Are we cursed?" Hawk asked, his voice laced with pain."I don't know. Ryder is the cursed one, but it seems we are more unfortunate. First Matilda, now Zelda. It makes me reluctant to love again. I hope the moon goddess spares us from another mate. Alpha Ryder’s POV As the morning sun stretched and bathed the walls of my packhouse in its golden rays, Carter and I, accompanied by two other warriors, stood at the door. Inside, Hazel was receiving treatment, and there were rumors that Jake hadn't left her side since the incident. "I don't think we should be doing this, man," Carter said with a frown. "Stop talking and open the damn door," I replied through gritted teeth. Carter placed his hand on the door and pushed it open. We stormed into the room. The doctor was frantically cleaning Hazel's body with a wet towel. Hazel looked pale and fragile, tugging at my heartstrings. It's not every day you see a brave woman in such a vulnerable state.
