Cassandra POV:
It took me seven years to finally achieve my last wish, getting my dream job. A few days ago, someone from RX Corp called me to inform me that I got the secretary position for the company CEO. To some people, it might not sound like a grand position, just a mere secretary. But what people did not see was that RX Corp was the largest business corporation in this country and being a secretary to the CEO meant a lot of travelling, which I loved so much and certainly, I could learn business skills directly from the best.
So after getting the call from RX Corp, I informed all my friends about it and they suggested that I should buy them a drink to celebrate the milestone. And that led to the occasion tonight at Emerald Nightclub. I booked a private room at that club and at nine I was already there waiting for all my friends to come.
There weren't many of us, just five people including me. There was one person that was so close with me whenever we were in public but emotionally we were rivals inside. It was Tina Sanfield, my most obvious competitor. We always competed in everything.
You knew the basics of this kind of rivalry. Who has a bigger house, a bigger car? Who wears the latest fashion collection clothes or who got the pricier jewellery? Whose man is more handsome or richer? Who gets a higher payable job? Huh! Trust me, in each case, I was always winning over her except for one, the man part. I had none.
So, when Tina arrived at the club, the bitterness was clearly drawn all across her face. She probably did not expect that I somehow would land a job at RX Corp, which she had tried a few times in the past two years but failed. As soon as she entered the private room, we hugged. Obviously, just another act from both of us to show the rest that we supported each other.
"Congrats! You must feel like you're in heaven right now. Finally getting the job that I wish I had," Tina joshed normally and went to sit on the sofa. The rest of our friends followed her lead.
"Thanks, Tina. I wouldn't have made it without your tips and advice. They worked for me," I replied gently, reminding her again how much she told me before that it was so hard to get accepted to work at RX Corp. She was so obsessed with the company before and kept talking about it to everyone. Ironically, I got a job there after applying for the first time.
The night went well. We had fun and sang a lot of songs from the karaoke system. My friends kept ordering drinks and I just let them be. After a few rounds, I slowly got drunk. I just rested my back on the sofa, remembering that my body felt like jelly. Everything was wobbly and I couldn't even stand straight on my feet.
"This is not fun anymore! Why don't we do something else? No more songs!" Tina complained.
I just stared at her from my seat and didn't respond at all. She approached me and grabbed my clutch, opened it without my consent and took my phone.
"Guys! Guys! Why don't we do this," Tina unlocked my phone using my Face ID and then went to scroll something on it. She then showed everyone around the contact number of someone.
"What's that?" I asked half-consciously. She made me look at the phone screen and the name 'Ricky' flashed on my face.
"Let's call him!" Tina suggested and everyone cheered in agreement.
"No..." I tried to grab the phone but Tina walked away fast. I could hear her snickering at me and pushing something on the phone. She called Ricky and put the phone in loudspeaker mode.
"Don't do that!" I yelled, wishing that they would stop doing it but instead, two of my friends grabbed my body tightly, stopping me from getting to Tina.
"Oh, come on Cassie. You never got over this one. It's been years but you still had his number. Let's just call him and see if he still used this number," Tina said.
"Yeah, let's do that. You ought to tell him about your life now. You achieved everything you ever wished for. Tell him how successful you are right now. Tell him that it was such a shame that he chose to walk away from you before," Franklin Simone backed Tina up. He was the idiot on our gang, the troublemaker to be exact. Certainly, his personality matched Tina's energy very much.
For the record, Ricky or his full name Riccardo Xavier was actually my ex-boyfriend during college. We broke up like seven years ago. He was my senior, three years older than me. We decided to break up after he graduated college because he couldn't manage his time properly to meet me more often. He told me that he could only meet me once a month and that was such a dealbreaker for me. So, I brought up breaking up thinking that he might change his mind and agree to spend more time with me.
Unfortunately, Ricky agreed with the breakup quite easily and that thing still bothered my mind until now. It made me feel as if I wasn't enough for him, that it was so easy for him to give up on me. I always wondered how he could have the heart to treat me in such a way after sharing so many intimate memories together.
I was expecting that the call won't go through. I mean, it had been seven years, and Ricky probably had changed his number. But then, Tina suddenly made a thrilling face because the call went through and someone picked it up.
"Hello?" A man answered the call.
"Is this Riccardo Xavier?" Tina asked.
"Yes," he confirmed it in a split second, with no hesitation.
"Hi, Ricky. Do you still remember me?" Tina pretended to mimic my voice, making it sound flirty.
I wanted to say something but Franklin shove a napkin into my mouth and cupped it with his hand. I muffled a sound and tried to break free from the hug given by my other two friends, but to no avail.
"Hello... Are you there?" Tina said in a sense of calling him wittily.
"Yes. Who is this?" Ricky replied. He sounded hesitant in his talk as if he knew it was not me.
"Cassie. You don't remember me anymore? Cassandra Moore," Tina said, still trying hard to pretend as me. What was she thinking? Our voices were obviously so different that even if she tried to talk like me, it would still sound strange and awkward.
"You didn't sound like Cassie. Cassie didn't talk like this," Ricky seemed convinced that it was not me and that made me feel funny. I tried to laugh but the napkin in my mouth hindered my voice and my eyes started to be teary right now because my jaw hurt so much because I couldn't close my mouth properly.
"Of course, I'm Cassie. Do you want to know something? I just got a job at RX Corp. I'm going to work with the CEO. I'm going to meet him every day and so... I might seduce him and marry him later. Don't worry... If you are kind enough to tell me your home address, I would send the wedding invitation card to you later," Tina made up some ridiculous stuff to say to Ricky that I almost got a heart attack while hearing it.
I shook my body, trying to break free again. The muffled sound I made was getting louder and Franklin pouted his lips in irritation.
"Shut up, Cassie. Come on, this is getting good. Let Tina handle that man. I wanted to see what he's going to say," he said, totally disregarding the fact that they were messing with my personal affair right now.
We all waited silently for Ricky's response. For a few seconds, he said nothing. But then he suddenly chuckled as if the things that Tina said just now were so ridiculous for him.
"I know this is not Cassandra and I'm going to pretend as if I didn't hear what I heard just now... Where is she?" He said with a domineering voice.
Riccardo POV:I heard someone burst out laughing and I swore to God that laugh belonged to Cassandra."Cassie?" I spoke again. But the other person on the line was silent. I stared at my phone screen and checked it once again. It was clearly Cassandra who called me."Hello?" The call was not dead yet, but why did no one was talking?"Get it closer to her. Let her talk. Cassie, talk to him. How ridiculous. How the heck did he know it wasn't you?" I heard some random people speak indistinctly, so I waited patiently to grasp what kind of situation this was."Hello?" A woman's voice finally talked again. I knew this voice. This was certainly Cassandra."Is this Cassie?" I asked, wanting to confirm it."Yes, this is Cassie. Cassandra Moore! The ex that you dumped seven years ago!" She proclaimed with a drunk voice."I didn't dump you, Cassie. We agreed to go on our separate ways," I responded calmly."Yeah... right... that's just another term you would call it. Go on our separate ways... I
Riccardo POV:"Cassie... Cassie, wake up. Why are you drinking so much? Cassie..." I called her out a few times while tapping her blushing red cheeks. Her face felt hot even though she was just wearing a black mini tube dress. The sight of her bare thighs provoked my manly desire and so I looked away from her instantly, trying to control the stirring emotion in my mind right now.Cassie slowly opened her eyes and grabbed my thigh. She pulled it in a way that made me face her. She casually just looked me directly in the eyes. We hadn't met for seven years, so at this point, the only thing that crossed my mind was the question of whether she remembered me or not."Mister, you look so hot. A bit older but somewhat similar to my ex... Ricky..." she complimented me while cupping my chin with her right palm. Yet, her expression changed to a hateful one when she mentioned my name. Then she suddenly took out her phone from her clutch and scrolled her gallery, clinking on a picture and it got
Cassandra POV:What the hell did I just dream of last night? It was so weird. I opened my eyes and realized that it was already morning. I, Cassandra Moore, had never once made love with any man after breaking up with Riccardo Xavier. But last night, I dreamt about having some steamy intimate activity with someone that looked just like him. That was funny! I must be really craving to have sex that I ended up having such a filthy dream.Smiling like a silly girl, I rose from the bed and the comfy blanket that covered me fell down only to expose my naked body. Shit! Did last night really happen then? I was momentarily stunned and became a stone there for like ten seconds before I had my sanity again and quickly went to find my dress."Gosh... What do I do? What do I do?" I mumbled in panic while putting on my dress again. My eyes scanned the surroundings and realized that it was not even my bedroom. I'm inside a stranger's house right now.Where was this place? I went to take a look out
Riccardo POV:Cassandra gasped in disbelief after I confirmed to her that we did sleep together last night. It didn't seem like she liked it. That was weird because I'm pretty sure she still had feelings for me. So, why with the sudden repulsion now?"I should go," she said firmly and stood up again, heading to the front door. She didn't even touch the food I served her."Cassie, just eat first. Your car was still near the nightclub. I'll send you there later. Just rest a bit and have some food," I persuaded her to stay but she turned around and showed a disgusted expression on me."I don't need to rest. I need to go right now! Don't even try to stop me. I'm leaving!"I couldn't even understand why she was so angry at me. Seven years had passed and the breakup surely won't be a solid reason to hate each other right now. She moved on quite perfect too. I had always watched over her all this time, she looked fine. Why would she hate me?"Why are you so angry?" I asked nicely, having no
Cassandra POV:No. This was not happening. How could he be the CEO of RX Corp? Was I even entering the right company building right now?My head was trying to process this mess-up situation while my eyes were wandering around scanning all the notices and advertisements placed inside the VIP elevator. All of them had the RX Corp logo on them. It was certain now, that I really entered the right company building. For the next seconds, I could feel my heart pounding hard and my breath was getting shorter. I kept taking deep breaths, trying to make sure my brain got enough oxygen or else I might faint in here. I'm feeling like I'm having a panic attack. How the hell did Riccardo end up being my new boss? No, the right question would be... How the hell did I end up being his secretary right now? Damn it! I should have checked who was the owner of the company or at least checked who the CEO was. Why did I skip that information and just applied to the job opening here? Why?!I could feel as i
Riccardo POV:"No! Let me go! Let me go!" Cassie tried to push me away. But who were we kidding, right? I'm bigger than her. Of course, she won't succeed in escaping me. This woman was so weird. One second, she acted like she wanted me to touch her. And the next second, she suddenly made it seem like I was forcing her.I locked her hands by grabbing both her wrists using my left hand. And I used my right hand to unzip her black pencil skirt. That piece of covering got loosened a bit and I roughly pulled it down immediately. As expected, no panties down there. I glanced at her and gave her a mocking look."So... you're really planning to seduce your new boss from the first day, huh?" I satirized her, wasn't expecting any answer because it was obvious. She scoffed and looked to her left, avoiding looking me in the eyes. Her face showed a trace of shame, probably felt humiliated that I exposed her dark intention."What were you thinking, Cassie? You were never this easy before..." I whis
Cassandra POV:How did I end up in this situation? Trapped in this office with him having the intention to force himself on me. I grabbed whatever stuff I could find from his desk and just threw them to him, hoping he would not come closer to me.I thought I was succeeding in doing so, but Riccardo suddenly rushed toward me. He pinned me down to the floor and locked my legs from moving. I screamed again, really scared to death of his sudden aggression."Shut up!" He yelled, glaring at me sharply with his dark eyes. That order put me to silence instantly. I gasped for air, feeling suffocated by this situation.Riccardo took off his suit and fully unbuttoned his white shirt. He pulled down his pants and his manhood was exposed. He grabbed my thighs and spread open my legs."Ricky... Ricky, please no..." I begged for him to stop."Give me one good reason why I should trust that you won't run away to that door again?" He asked domineeringly with his sharp gaze piercing into my soul and dy
Riccardo POV:"Please... I won't bother you anymore," she said with both her eyes closed shut, afraid to even see me. I chuckled. It was not like I could eat her alive or anything. Why would she even feel terrified of me that much?"Listen carefully. I'm going to brief you now about your job. Open your eyes and see what I wanted to show you clearly," I replied and she slowly opened her eyes again.I brought her to my desk and then showed her everything that she needed to do for her position. Cassie was a smart woman, it only took her seconds to understand everything that I said.Strangely, I never would expect that she would be this good with her job if it was seven years ago. The Cassandra back then was just a naive lady that rarely stand out. Now, she was just amazing. After all, the HR department was the one who interviewed her before. So, if they managed to shortlist her into the final candidates for this position, certainly there was no question that she was really good and quali
Cassandra POV:Seven years of heartbreak and hell, and now seven years of heaven later. I gave birth to my son safely and he was six now. We named him Rafael. I knew not really a cute name. But it brought great meaning, which was, healed by God. I hoped his life would be much better than the one that I and Ricky had.Oddly, there was nothing much I should do after taking over the Rossi region. As I requested, Ricky took down the Rossi's mansion to the ground and built my very first art gallery on the land. Because of my anonymous identity in my painting business, I was able to continue it even after the cathedral case. So, I lived by making my own million dollars selling paintings til today. Certainly, a lot more companies began offering me collaborations too.News about my parents and Christopher? Well, nothing much. My father found out that he had stage four lung cancer and Christopher got a woman who was way older than him pregnant, forced to be married to her and now he was doing
Riccardo POV:If that was what she wished for then I won't stop her. She deserved to have all the happiness she could get now. No more Carina to shadow her from living her life to the fullest. Cassie can now finally live the life she deserved. I would make sure it stayed that way as long as I lived. The next day, I returned to the company again after a long break. Today was important because all the Mafia Dons along with some of their future successors would be having a meeting with me inside my office room. With the whole Rossi family gone, the Rossi region was left without any leader now.Everyone expected the leadership to fall into my hands. But I just didn't feel right taking power over half of the country's region. I just didn't feel like being in that much power. Carina's effort to overthrow me before had left a trace of sense in me that people would start envying you if you had too much power. But then again, the whole Rossi family members were dead now. Giving their land to o
Riccardo POV:I never would have expected that Cassie's relationship with her family was this bad. I got it that they weren't talking anymore but I never had the idea that they were treating her this disrespectfully. She just got out of jail after shooting Carina, had her dream wedding turned into a tragic incident of bloody red event and instead of comforting her, her parents just chose to annoy her even more. Not to mention the extreme entitlement her younger brother had over her, demanding a job from me because I married Cassie without their consent. The audacity."Leave... And stop bothering my wife again. If I see anyone of you try to step foot on my property again, I won't hesitate to sue for invasion of privacy and have the police take you all away. Don't even try to test me. Ernesto, tell Dome and Marco to escort them out. Put them on the blacklist. Don't let them enter my mansion again."Cruel? I bet Cassie would want it to be worse. I'm being kind enough that I let them leav
Cassandra POV:I didn't know what my family was trying to do by coming here to meet me after my court case had ended. It seemed like they were waiting to see if I was really innocent about it or not. They started showing how they cared about me. So for once, I thought maybe they were being real this time. I invited them to sit in the living room and I told Verona to go serve some drinks for them. My parents just started looking around the mansion and checking out every stuff their eyes could see."I have some work to do upstairs. Why don't you just have some private talk with your family first," Ricky said and I just nodded in agreement.Honestly, I could sense that they were having some ulterior motives to come here. But I tried to think positively and went to sit together with them in the living room. Maybe it would be different this time. Maybe they really wanted the four of us to be a real family now. The thought of my mother admitted that she never loved me when I had the phone c
Riccardo POV: When I woke up again, the doctor told me that I had been out for three days. Sergio, Dome, Leo and Franco were all around my bed. But Cassie was nowhere to be seen. "Where is my wife?" I asked firmly to them. I really thought that I was going to die but now that I'm wide awake and felt strong again, my heart just instantly searched for that one woman I loved the most. I turned to Sergio as he was the one responsible for everything if I ever was not fit to be in power. He looked down to avoid my gaze and started apologizing. "She's in jail. Convicted with first-degree murder of Carina at the cathedral," Sergio said timidly. That just instantly made me angry. "What do you mean she's in jail?! It was self-defence. You all saw it. Carina shot at us first. How long had she been in there?!" I asked fast and Leo told me it was ever since I was hospitalized. I sighed hard in frustration and my chest started feeling hurt, the effect of the gunshot wounds I got. They all star
Cassandra POV: When we arrived at the hospital, Ricky was pushed to the ICU instantly. I, Leo, Sergio and Dome were asked to wait outside. We waited for hours before the doctor came out and told us that Ricky was fine. The bullets had been taken out from his body and lucky enough none of them hit his internal organ. He just lost a lot of blood but was estimated to be in full recovery within two weeks. I finally could breathe normally again when the doctor said that. Everyone looked glad and maybe this was indeed going to be my happy ending, right? But who was I kidding? Not even a day passed but a few policemen had arrived at the hospital to take me in. "I'm sorry. Are you Miss Cassandra Moore or should I call you Mrs Xavier instead?" A police officer talked to me. "I'm her lawyer. Don't say anything," Sergio came forward and warned me to shut my mouth. He was ready to deal with the police in order to protect me. "We received multiple reports stating that a murder had happened ins
Cassandra POV: I couldn't believe that this was happening. Of all the days she could have come and attacked me, she chose to do it on the most important day of my life. My heart just shattered entirely the moment Ricky chose to use his body to shield me from the gunshot Carina fired at us. He instantly fell to the floor and I could only see death was coming to get him. My mind went insane at once and I could feel my whole life would be over if Ricky died. But I no longer wanted to live in fear if Carina was able to escape again. She must die today no matter what happened. With all my logical thinking going disarray, I just did whatever crossed my mind. I knew Ricky had a gun right now, so I went to get it. "I killed the Godfather! I killed the Godfather!" I heard how Carina was screaming happily to celebrate her success in shooting down Ricky. It enraged me so badly that I lost my sense of humanity for that split moment. "You're a f*cking monster! I'm going to kill you! I'm going t
Riccardo POV:"Do you take Cassandra Moore as your lawful wife, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and cherish until death do you part?" The priest's voice echoed all over the cathedral as he spoke on the microphone."I do," I replied solemnly without a single hesitation. I had been waiting to say those two words my whole life for Cassie."Do you take Riccardo Xavier as your lawful husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and cherish until death do you part?" The priest repeated the same to Cassie."I do," she too seemed to be confident saying those two words for me.Then came the time for both of us to exchange wedding rings. We faced each other, looking dear as soon enough, we would be officially husband and wife for good. Actually, in legal law, we were already married as I had registered our
Riccardo POV:Cassie just automatically turned sad at the mention of Nicola. Now that she saw the heels Nicola made for her wedding, she just couldn't help whimpering at them. Maybe the memory was too horrible for her. I remembered how she was there too when we found pieces of Nicola's remains on the hill where her car was bombed by Carina. Cassie fainted that day and she was so taken aback to lose Nicola that way.How she had convinced me so much about Carina's wicked intention. If only I had trusted her that time. This memory just reminded me how stupid I was in the past. Now, it hit my feeling hard too. I quickly held Cassie tightly in my arms and kissed her forehead a few times."I'm sorry... I'm so sorry..." I couldn't stop apologizing as the memory flashed in the back of my mind. It suddenly made me realize how lucky I was that I managed to make things right again with Cassie. To be able to come to this point again with her, it was somewhat amazing how the universe worked his mi
