Expect the papers

"You Don't have to lecture me,I am fully aware of these things and I also  know that elders should respect themselves and act well so others can follow their footsteps but yours is a different case"I said to her and her face contorted in anger.

"You should be careful with the words you utter,you are new here and I have been here for a long time now,I am the housekeeper here and I bet you wouldn't want to get on my bad side"she said to me and I scoffed.

"I should be the one telling you that instead,you seem to have forgotten who I am"I said to her.

"Your father is dead so you are a nobody now"she said to me and I clenched my fists as I tried hard to control my emotions.

"I am your employer's wife making me your madam,I bet you wouldn't want to get on my bad side"I said to her.I could see the anger written all over her face.

"My boss doesn't love you"she stated.

"Are you sure about that?I hope you won't mind me telling him that"I said to her and she clenched her fists.

"You can starve yourself to death,it would be much better if you join your heartless father"she blurted out before leaving the room with the other maid following behind her.

After she left my room, silence returned to my room again and I felt emptiness in my heart.

I crouched on my knees and began to cry all over again.

Chris was seated  in Lorenzo badmus's office.there was silence as Chris was staring at Lorenzo with a cold gaze. Lorenzo was very uneasy.

"I have married her like you said,give me the properties then"Chris said to him,his face void of any emotions.

Beads of sweat could be seen on Lorenzo's fore head as Chris' gaze bore into his soul and whole being.

He adjusted his eyeglass before looking at Chris who was waiting patiently for his reply.

"I am sorry to say this but It's not done that way Mr Chris,you can't just claim the late president's fortune because you got married to his daughter"Lorenzo said to Chris whose expression remained calm.

"What are you saying?I did what you asked me to do"Chris spoke.

"That's not the only thing you should do,"Lorenzo replied.

"Then tell me what I have to do to  get Martin's fortune and stop wasting my time"Chris said to him,this time around raising his voice and Lorenzo felt a shiver run down his spine.

"Since you have married her,you have to make her sign that she is entrusting her father's fortune to you,after that, then you have no problem"Lorenzo said to Chris.

"Where are the necessary documents she needs to sign?"Chris asked and Lorenzo was mute.

He was filled with many thoughts, what he was about to do was wrong but he had to save his life first.he felt bad for betraying Martin but he can at least do something to help his daughter.After much thought,he decided to try his luck besides Chris needed him to get his hands on Martin's fortune.

"I will give you the documents on one condition"He said as he tried not to maintain eye contact with Chris.

Chris was calm as he tapped his fingers on the table.Lorenzo felt like his breath was leaving him,he wondered if he had said something to annoy Chris.

"What do you want?"Chris asked after a few minutes.

"I want you to leave Martin's daughter out of this,I don't know what you have against Martin but his daughter is innocent"Lorenzo said to Chris.

"I never had the intention of involving his daughter in this,I wouldn't have known of his daughter's existence if you had done what I asked you to do but now I have seen her,she is involved already and there is nothing you can do about it"Chris said to Lorenzo.

"But she is still a little girl,"Lorenzo tried to reason with him.

"You will not tell me what to do with my wife, just shut up and give me the documents I need,you seem to have forgotten your place so fast"he said to Lorenzo who sighed heavily.

He walked to the other side of his office,he unlocked a safe and brought out a document before handing it over to Chris.

There was silence as Chris went through the documents needed to be signed by Stephanie.

 After going through the documents,he stood immediately on his feet.

"Expect the papers tomorrow"he said to Lorenzo before walking out of his office.

As soon as he left, Lorenzo exhaled before wiping the swears on his face with his handkerchief.

He couldn't believe that he was sweating even though he had an air conditioner in his office.he has never been so scared of someone before in his life.

He felt guilty for betraying Martin,he only hoped that Chris wouldn't harm Martin's daughter.

Chris drove straight to the mall where he picked some clothes and a few things for Stephanie.he also got a flower and a cake for her.

After seeing her details,he took note of when she was born.

After he was done shopping for her,he entered his car and drove back to his mansion.

On arriving,he met  the housekeeper whose name was Amelia on his way into the mansion.

As soon as she saw him,she smiled before greeting him.

"Good day sir"she greeted and Chris nodded."Hope everything is fine"

"Of course,"Amelia replied.

"Did she eat?"Chris asked.

"No sir"Amelia replied.

"Get the things in my car to my wife's room"he said to  her before leaving.

Amelia clenched her fists when she heard him acknowledge Stephanie as his wife.

Chris was indebted to her family because her late husband was the bodyguard that helped him escape in the past when Martin sent assassins to assassinate his family.

Her husband died while helping him and she also accommodated him in her house for some time when he was little.

Years later he came back and promised to help her family for the help they rendered to him.since then,she and her three children has been living in his mansion working as a housekeeper.

He was also the one paying her children's school fees.she was grateful for the help he has been giving her family for the past years.
