CHAPTER FIVE: HER OTHER SIDE.

The two were engrossed in each other when her phone began to ring and it was her mother calling, sighing heavily she quickly picked it up.

" Hello mum" came her uninterested voice, she wasn't too happy talking to her.

" You said you were going to send the money last week so what happened Aurora?" Her mother asked angrily from the other end," you shouldn't have promised if you knew you were just lying" she added and Aurora felt like smashing her phone to the floor, she was the eldest daughter of her family and she still had three other siblings to take care of including her parents. They weren't making things easier for her in any way and she was living like a pauper because of them, shouldn't they show a little appreciation?

" You will get the money next week mum and you should also ask the others to get some work done mum, I am Also trying my best" she couldn't hold in her frustration any longer,until when will she live like this?.

" What happened, unique eyes?" Liam asked, seeing the sad look in her eyes.

" Nothing sweetheart" she mouthed before focusing on the call again.

" You have always been an unfilial child, you better send the money next week" her mother retorted angrily before disconnecting the call.

" So much for being an elder daughter" she couldn't help but roll her eyes.

" Do you need money unique eyes?" Liam asked as he snuggled closer to her.

" No, no don't bother about that and let me continue the story" she knew he was smart and she had to find a way to deviate from the topic or else he would end up knowing everything about her and her " very good" family.

He didn't say anything and just laid in her embrace like that but that doesn't mean he wasn't thinking of ways to help her.

After a while when she noticed his steady breathing, she gently tucked him into bed before making her way out of the room. She wouldn't allow her mother to call and embarrass her again.

She knocked slightly on Adrian's door before entering,the doctor seemed to be busy with work so she didn't say anything and waited for him to finish.

" Sorry for keeping you Nurse Aurora" he said after a while as he finally looked up from the medical report he was checking.

" It's no problem sir" she answered, faking a smile.

" How can I help you?" He asked and for a moment she bit her lip, a habit she developed anytime she was nervous.

" Actually sir, I…" she bit her lips again and Adrian pinched the space between his brows.

" Do you need an advance on your salary?" He asked after a while and she bent her head in embarrassment.

" You know I can't keep doing this Aura?"

" I know sir and I am very sorry"

Adrian sighed as he relaxed on his reclining chair," you have been working here for a year Aurora and you have collected an advance on your salary more than I can even count, I can understand you have your personal issues but I can't keep going against hospital policy"

She bit her lips again before looking at Adrian, " I know sir and this isn't right either. I promise not to do this again, it is just that I have an urgent matter to tend to and I really need the money. I can work on extra shifts if you want me to" by now she had placed her hands in front of her like she wanted to pray, " please help me sir, for the last time".

" I am sorry Aurora but I can't do that"

" Sir please…."

He cut her short, " I can't keep breaking the law for you aura, I understand this is hard but I can't. If you want personally I can help you with the money you need"

She sighed before standing up, " thanks for your help sir but not to worry" saying that she turned and walked out of the office, her eyes already Misty with tears.

Once outside the office, she leaned on the wall and closed her eyes. She knew for a fact that if she didn't arrange the money for her family then hell would be let loose, they were always threatening to do one thing or another and she knew there were not just mere threats, at least the ones from her mother needed to be taken seriously.

She didn't know for how long she had been standing there, it was not until she heard her name that she opened her eyes and Danny was standing in front of her with a concerned look on her face.

" What happened to you Aurora?I have been calling your name for a while now" she asked.

Aurora sighed before ruffling her long silky hair, " same old same old Danny"

Danny already understood what she meant and could only sigh, she couldn't be of any help to her friend even if she wanted to. Over the past year, she has witnessed how her family treated her and it was like she wasn't one of them, her parents were always on her neck for money and her remaining siblings were practically useless.

" What are we going to do, Aura?" She asked Patting her shoulder softly.

" Can you cover up for me today, I just really need to figure it out".

" It's okay dear, I will cover for you and also tell head nurse something urgent came up"

" Thank you" she replied, faking a smile, " Liam prescription is on his bedside table so you can just follow it. Tell him I will call him later" she added.

" Okay" Danny replied and watched her friend walk off. She was always the one who tries to make everyone around her happy but Aurora was just a depressed soul herself.

As soon as Danny entered Liam's room, a cold stare from the father and son greeted her and she began to feel a little uncomfortable.

" Who are you?" Little Liam's voice resounded in her ears and she forced herself to give a smile.

" Nurse Aurora sent me here to give you your medicine" she answered, stealing a quick glance at Malcolm who was now looking at her intently.

" And where is she?" He growled slowly.

" Something urgent came up sir so she had to leave first".

Malcolm scoffed, " that clumsy Nurse, I will have her license revoked if anything happens to my son" he threatened and Danny gulped, has her dream crush always been this terrifying?

" So you are unique eyes friend?" Liam asked and Danny nodded, she didn't know who was unique eyes but she just nodded.

" Okay then, I will take the medicine from you for just today, if she isn't here by tomorrow I won't take any medicines".

Danny nodded before setting to work, she could feel chills running down her spine and she just wanted to run away from the room, how was Aurora able to manage with such coldness?

Once she was done and wanted to leave, Malcolm stopped her

" Tell your friend that if this happens again then I won't spare her".

" Yes sir" Danny replied and fled, her heart almost jumping into her mouth.

" Papa '' Liam called immediately and Malcolm turned his attention to his son, his eyes which was cold a while ago was now warm towards him.

" Tell me son, what is it?".

" Can you help with unique eyes?Her mother called earlier and it seems she is having financial problems".

Malcolm didn't say anything for a while as he continued staring at his son,

" Why?" Was the only thing he asked.

" Just help her papa or she won't be here tomorrow just like she isn't now and I already miss her and I don't want her to be sad, please papa" he began to tug at his father's cloth and Malcolm sighed.

" Fine I will look into it so stop stressing and take some rest".

" Thank you papa" he beamed happily and hugged him, Malcolm just didn't know when his son grew to love that nurse so much.

As soon as Aurora got home she quickly took a shower and got dressed in a pair of trousers and T-shirt and her hair which was always down was now tied in a high ponytail. Glancing around the room for the umpteenth time, she grabbed her cross bag and walked out of the room.

This was her other life, the life she didn't want anyone to know. The Life that her situation forced her into, she has seen how menacing her mother could be and she didn't want to be the object of her mother's anger.

If people at the hospital come to know about the life she lived outside the hospital, she might be sacked but what could she do at the moment?Not like she does this often but when she was really in a tight spot.

Looking left and right, Aurora walked briskly into the club, loud music was blowing from unseen stereos and everyone looked intoxicated.

" Who do we have here?" Big, a worker at the club asked as soon as he saw her.

" Where is bigfoot?" She asked, ignoring his talks.

" Today will be a good day, big foot is in his office".

" Thank you" she answered and made to go but he stopped her,

 " I thought you said you quit last time?"

Aurora hissed at him before spanking just hand hard,  " focus on making drinks for the customers" 

Glancing around for a while, she walked towards Big Foot's office.
