With time I got accustomed to the Peters' house and important details about them such as the address. Aunty made me memorise her phone number and I took a mini tour of some parts of the estate, more like a few streets around ours just in case of necessities. One could never be too cautious.
One particular house caught my attention, It was different from all the other houses in the estate in terms of structure and paintings and exterior decor too.
It was an estate so all houses were built in the same structure but you could add a few finishing touches if you'd like but not something too extreme. This estate was for the rich and it was obvious the owners of that house were loaded.
It had been a week since I started living with the Peter's and I liked it. There's no place like home but it was something close to it. Aunty never for once made me feel like I wasn't her biological child, I hoped her attitude wouldn't change in the nearest future.
She treated me equally and that always made me happy. It also seems like she enjoys my company most especially when Uncle isn't home.
I was currently in the kitchen cooking with Aunty when we heard her phone ring. I ran to the living room to get the phone and made it back in time to pick it up. I didn't know who called but from the look on Aunty's face I could tell it wasn't just a courtesy call.
"Okay, Thanks a lot madam, I'll be there immediately." She said hurriedly in a monotone voice as she dropped the call and wiped her hands.
"Attracta can you make banga soup because I'll need you to finish it up but if you can't cook it, I'll be back on time to finish up."
Was she kidding me? A whole chef?
"I can make banga soup Aunty." I said.
"That's great, I'll be back in an hour dear." She said as she ran up the stairs to have a change of clothes and grabbed her car keys. I wondered what the problem was.
Time to show off my cooking skills.
I was done with the cooking in about thirty minutes. Superchef. I cleaned up the kitchen and decided to chill in the living room. My ass had barely kissed the couch when I heard a knock on the door.
Aunty came back early, but why was she knocking?
I opened the door to reveal a tall, handsome guy with bright red hair color staring at me like I had two heads.
"Can I help you?" I asked.
"I'm here for Ruby." He eyed me from my head to my toes.
What's wrong with this one?
"Okay, I'll let her kn-"
"Baby! You actually came." She squealed before she ran into his arms and the fool hugged her and even gave her a peck.
Could you imagine? So this grouch can smile. The guy looked like an upcoming mushin musician.
"Let's go." I heard her say before she walked out the gates hand in hand with Mr Danger and he drove off.
Ruby was dating a guy who would be at least four to five years older than her and that wasn't even the issue, she just drove off with him in a car. There's a saying that love is stupid but the stupidity has measurement now. I hoped she gets back before Aunty. Anyways what's my headache.
I walked back in, sat in my previous spot and tuned in to Africa magic epic only to see a scene where the lady added poison to a plate of soup, stirred it with her finger and tasted it, nodded her head and served it to her intended victim.
The great nollywood, accolades to y'all.
She tasted the poisoned food and didn't die but the victim died. Nothing short of theatric excellence. Nothings beats nollywood.
I woke up to the sound of knocking- more like banging on the door. How long have I been asleep. I hesitated at first until I heard Aunty's voice via the window.
"Open the door! I'm back." I heard Aunty's voice. I looked up at the clock which read "8:45". Aunty has been gone for about four hours and Ruby for three hours.
"Welcome Ma." I curtsied as Aunty came in.
"How are you dear, sorry I stayed out long. Have you prepared the soup? The traffic was a killer and I was delayed where I went to, it was Rose's teacher that called for my attention." She explained.
"Okay ma, should I dish your food or you'd like a shower first." I asked trying to stall her from thinking about the second person she left at home.
"Honestly speaking if I take a shower right now I'll sleep off so let me eat first then take the shower." She replied.
"Okay no problem ma." I served Aunty's food and she was midway into her food when it clicked.
"Has Ruby eaten?" She asked.
"Not yet ma, but she said she will soon." I lied.
"Okay then, I'll check on her on my way to my bed." Aunty said. Ruby was in deep shit.
Aunty was a few spoonfuls from being done with her food when I heard the sound of a car door slamming and the faint sound of someone sneaking in to the property. I'm ninety nine percent sure it's Ruby.
I slid my phone out of my back pocket as I texted Ruby's contact.
"Don't knock, wait for me at the back door of the kitchen." I sent.
"K" she replied. I'm even trying to help and she's still giving attitude. Wonders shall never end.
"I'm heading upstairs Attracta, thank you." Aunty said yawning lightly. She looked beat.
As soon as she started up the stairs, I made a u-turn into the kitchen and made to open up the exit door as quietly as I could.
"Get in." I whispered as I let the door open.
"Okay." She said in a duh tone.
How could someone who's so close to getting in trouble be so cocky?
She tip-toed to the entrance of the store room and pretended she was exiting from there making a few shuffling noises that attracted Aunty's attention as she was a few steps from Ruby's bedroom door.
"Honey, have you been in the store room all this while?" Aunty asked.
"Yes mum." She said as she walked up the stairs to her room without permitting her mum to ask any further questions.
"Goodnight Mum." She said as she closed the door behind her.
I cleaned up the kitchen and retired for bed. Whilst laying down, i wondered why Ruby was dating that guy. He looked far older than her and also looked like a dangerous type.
What could be the most she could possibly gain from him?, money? nice things?, all these were just vanities compared to how he could ruin her life and this vanities were things her parents could provide so why go down this road.
Funny as it may be, I'd never actually had a boyfriend or even had a boy I liked or crushed on. I guess it never really crossed my mind and besides I was just fifteen.
Don't contradict me. I've had guys throw themselves at me but I wasn't in the least interested in talking to them not to even go as far as liking any. I was just too preoccupied with thoughts like how I and my parents were going to survive the next day and my chase for a scholarship.
So I guess I had no time for boys except that guy that helped me with my phone the other day. Funny how I couldn't even remember his face anymore. Typical Attracta.
Enough boy thoughts, I said my prayers and off to bed I went.
Thanks for reading, I really appreciate it🖤.
It'd been three days since I helped Ruby out without a thank you in return. Not like I cared but courtesy demanded. I was currently in my room completing a crossword puzzle book I got on my way to Aunty's house, I was glad I bought it.I was dragged out of puzzle land by the sound of my door opening to reveal the queen herself."What do you want?" I asked without looking up from my book.
I looked around and took in my surroundings, the vast area of land, the neatly trimmed hedges and the burst of clean air. In all it's magnificent glory stood Belleview College.I and Aunty came for the interview that would complete my admission process. I was to resume into ss2 and I couldn't wait. I missed my old friends and I also couldn't wait to make new ones.We got a form and I was going to fill it myself but then
The day went by in a blur, the teachers were so nice, I got to meet the infamous friends of Ella, Emmanuel her twin brother, Tunji the clown, James the foodie and Aisha the ticking bomb. Turned out Aisha and Ella were friends. They were all amazing people and I was glad to have them as friends.I was currently going round the school in search of Ruby so we could go home because I didn't know my way around this place. It's been about thirty minutes of me going round in circles and I was about giving up until I heard muffled voices coming from be
Days have gone by and I was already accustomed to my new environment. I was actually loving it already. I had great friends, a lot of people actually wanted to get to know me,some sent glares towards me for something I have no idea about, who dey epp, Emmanuel never fails to torment me at every chance he gets. But to sum it all up, the school was amazing. It was the twins' birthday today and we were all adding the finishing touches. I pleaded with my foods and nutrition teacher to allow me use the oven to bake but only after school hours to kee
Weeks had gone by and the midterms were here. Joe actually did text me and we got talking. We were close friends right now but something doesn't quite add up, coupled with the fact that whenever I ask him to sit with I and my friends he always declines and sits with his set of friends. I don't blame him actually I also won't want to sit anywhere but with my friends so I dropped the offers.I was done writing the notes with the help of my friends, excluding Emmanuel, obviously.
I kept nurturing these unsure feelings inside me and I felt torn. The exams were fast approaching and I had this nervousness within me that I wasn't going to exceed the probation grades.I was having lunch with my friends when all of a sudden a commotion ensued at the entrance of the cafeteria and drew the attention of everyone. It was Joe and Emmanuel who were mid-argument and I was about to head there when Aisha held m
It's been a couple of weeks since the kiss and I've done well at avoiding Emmanuel. Even at lunch I always looked away from his gaze. I guess he got the memo later on and backed off.Exams are coming up in a few days and I felt really nervous, these exams could make or break my progress in Belleview College, I wasn't going to let myself, Aunty and my parents down. The exam time table was out already and I've been studying hard.
It was the school's Christmas carol in a few days and the each set were supposed to sing a song at the carol and the students were to also present a short nativity play.Right now the ss2 students where in the Arts class- my class, trying to decide what song we would present at the carol. Ella sat with Aisha and I, well more like between us, Emmanuel surprisingly sat be
Epilogue "Mantis..." Scorpion said as the recipient picked up the call. "My boss." Mantis, whose legal name was Akachukwu, replied. "One of your guys is passing his boundary and if he's not careful, one spanner lost." Lawrence threatened. "Who? How?" "He's threatening my sister and saying all sort of things." "Who is giving him the liver?" Aka asked. "I don't care. I traced him and I needed you to ask him who he's working for before I tell you any further." "Yes, boss. His na
The D-day was here, it’s Valentine's Day, the day I'd been anxiously waiting and yearning for. I woke up feeling nervous. Nothing must go wrong. By break time, our plan was set to go into motion. "Attracta that was-" "Needed." She interrupted. "Yes!" Yetty agreed. "Really?" "Yes, I saw the whole thing. He deserved it." "I'm glad you agree with me." "Why not?" Yetty grinned. "Where are we headed?" "Lunch. My treat this time around." "Aye, Aye captain!" Attracta chuckled. "She'
It was the third year, finally. Time was flying by fast and it was quite scary no matter how relieving the thought of it was. The holidays were too much fun for them, every minute of it was enjoyed. Dennis and Yetty's relationship was waxing stronger by the day. She'd been speaking to his mum for a short while and it was obvious they both loved each other. Attracta was still the lone wolf, single as ever and she seemed fine with the lifestyle. "You're trying to tell me you're not the tad bit interested in a relationship." Yetty asked as they laid up in the living room, chatting. She was laid on the couch while Attracta was sprawled over her favorite bean bag. "Nope!" She sucked on her lollipop. "Not th
"That was epic!" She threw her head back in laughter, super proud of Casper. "Yeah?" He blushed. "Yeah!" She embraced her, bouncing on her heels out of excitement. "You were walking out and he was like Mr Casper, we can settle this." She mocked, in a voice that imitated the Dean. "He looked so petrified." She released another bout of laughter. "You should've seen his eyes when I mentioned the ransom." Cas laughed. "He probably didn't expect me to collect hush money." She laughed. "He didn't see it coming." He threw his head b
Attracta has been skipping GST 201 classes and Yetty had been filling in for her but she couldn't avoid it today, she had to fill in for them both, Yetty was feeling a bit under the weather. She cringed at the thought of going. The lecturer had called her attention twice, professing feelings for her. She sighed as she walked into the lecture hall. A ton of boring words later, the class was over and she tried to leave as stealthily as she could. She'd almost excelled at it till Dipo almost accidentally tripped her. He caught her just in time but it was enough ruckus to draw the attention of Mr Rufus who was almost out of the door. "Peters." He referred to her by her last name. "Good afternoon sir.
Second year of uni started briskly and all the gist was about last semester's results. "Attracta, honestly can't wait to see the results. I'm super anxious." Yetty said as she sat next to her. Attracta who's had enough snapped immediately. "Shut up Yetty!" Yetty was taken aback by her outburst but being the mature, understanding and sensitive soul she was,she didn't dwell on the volume, instead the source was what caught her attention. "Look, I'm -" "Are you okay?" She asked tenderly. "Yeah, what do you mean?" She mumbled. "Something's up with you." She pointed out.
Downstairs, the party was in full swing while Dennis and Yetty made out in his room. He threw her dress over her head, she was clad in only a thong. His pupils darkened as he stared at her breasts, taking a nipple into his mouth as he caressed the other with his hands, kneading gently. A soft moan escaped Yetty’s lips as the sensation made her skin dance. “Yetty. Should. We. Stop?” He asked in between kisses. “Hell no.” She huffed. Yetty was a virgin and he was aware but tonight she was breaking all restraints. “All the way?” He paused to ask her. “Yeah.” She said in a dazed state. “Are
