I woke up a later than my usual time, picking up my phone, 11:09am was displayed boldly on the screen.
Who knew I could sleep for this long
The midterms were over and it'd been one hell of an awkward one. Junior refused to come home so he spent his midterm break at grandma's place. Speaking of grandmas, I never grew up with one, we never knew each other. I had asked my mum once and she said it in plain, emotionless words that my grandma 'didn't want to meet me'. I sighed as I pushed the thought to the back of my mind. Her loss, not mine.Occasionally bumping into Rose was the main motive behind me calling my break 'awkward'. I don't think I'd ever be able to forget what I saw.School had resumed and the ss2 students had become a shadow of themselves, they were more respectful, neat, quiet and even acted more mature. The boys prostrated lower than before when greeting teachers while girls almost grazed their knees with the floors, like they were greeting their in-laws. All for these posts. Some were even going overboard with it. Mary from science class stocked up the staff room with packs of bottled water and drinks.P
Days rolled into weeks and time flew by, exams were around the corner. The classrooms of Belleview were getting more silent by the day, whilst the library received its august visitors. The prefect-ship craze wasn't the hot topic anymore, most students had even forgotten about it while some were still trying to be noticed and we the nominees became more cautious alongside studying hard."Hey baby." Nuel waltzed into my classroom. I was the only one in class, it was break period and most of us were in the cafeteria while other were littered around school in their various quiet spots."Hey love." I replied as I dropped my pencil on the opened book in front of me."Why didn't you go for the break?" He asked occupying the seat in front of mine before pecking my forehead."I'm not hungry and I wanted to master these equations." I gestured to the book."Math wiz." He joked, making me smile.
It was the first week of the exams and I was in the library studying for my paper; it was by twelve. The perfect-ship craze was on a low and most students were putting in their all. It was being rumored that the prefects will be chosen based on their academic performance for this term.I didn't even bat an eyelash or break a sweat. Prefect or no prefect, I was still a seniorThings have been really rocky with Ruby for a couple of weeks, every little action surrounding me came with a consequence and I wasn't ready to back down either.Last week, a tumbler slid out of my hands while doing the dishes and she thought it best, to report about it to her mum.Who reports about a broken glass?Even her mum saw no reason for her report. She was just trying so hard to gain unnecessary attention at whatever cost."Good afternoon senior. This is for you." He handed a f
It'd been one hell of a week for me and probably, my cousins too. Aunty had been working from home for the past week so we all had to be home at the right time.It was harder on Ruby than Rose and I, I got to see my boyfriend at school everyday though, and I don't think I'll ever get tired of that. Though we still rode home together, I didn't dare go anywhere else but straight home.We were almost done with exams, I had just a few papers left. I was heading to the kitchen while scrolling throughmy phone.Aunty had confiscated our phones after the whole Ruby family meeting disaster and since it was Friday, she decided to let us have them and returned by Sunday afternoon. This was put in place "so as to foster more studying and less drama and distractions" in the house. I wasn't even in the least affected unlike my cousins, I still had my old phone much to the oblivion of everyone.Ruby was one step a
We were all refrained from visiting Mary at the sick bay yesterday after she fainted. But today, students kept on trooping in and out of science class to check on her. Some out of curiosity, others, out of genuine care.I wanted to check on her but decided to quench the fire of that thought at the moment. My butt graced my seat as I winced slightly. My injury stung a bit whenever I was about to sit down, or when I took deep breaths and worse when I walked under the scorching sun.The school had a playful aura about it this afternoon because the exams ended today. Senior students loosened their hairdos while juniors ran about the compound."Hot babe!" Ella hollered as she waltzed through the door of my classroom."So hot she got burned!" James teased."Shut up." Nuel smacked his head as he appeared behind them."Where are you guys coming from?" I smi
I woke up with a smile on my face, this was due to yesterday's events. I and Ruby proudly announced our new posts to her parents and they were genuinely proud of us.I sauntered to the kitchen after brushing my teeth. Mama and Aunty were in the kitchen discussing, I could barely make anything out of their whisperings."Good morning ma, good morning Aunty." I genuflected."Morning my child, how was your night? May you live long in Jesus name." Mama prayed."Amen." I replied."How's the burn?" Aunty glanced at my tummy area."It's healing fast Aunty, it will soon be completely gone." I assured her."But my child, look at the time, this isn't the right time for a young girl like you to wake up." Mama complained."I'm sorry ma." I said in order to avoid unnecessary sermons."But mama, Chizoba and Chikamsu are still sleeping." Aunty repl
It'd been two days and Junior was still acting the same to everyone except his dad. Aunty was getting worried by the day, I felt Junior drifting away slowly.I made it a mission to find out what was wrong. I was presently in his room trying to get him to talk."Junior I've been watching you for the past two days, something is wrong and I'm sure of it, please talk to me. It's Atti." I assured. He still wore an unsure look."Junior baby, you know you can talk to me, trust me, you can confide in me, I promise I won't tell mummy." I cajoled." Promise?" He spoke after five minutes of staring at the ceiling."Promise." I said without hesitation."Let's go to your room." He got off the bed."Okay." I agreed before walking out, Junior two steps behind, keeping his distance."Now will you tell me what's wrong?" I questioned in a calm voice.
I was glad I spoke to Junior yesterday and to say we had fun was an understatement. Junior was feeling better and it gladdened my heart. Even his family noticed he was more cheerful now.Talking actually has an impact on people, words are indeed sharper than swords.I woke up about thirty minutes ago and I'd been laying on the bed staring at the ceiling, being thankful for everything.I could hear the voice of a woman conversing with JB at the gate. I peeped out my window. I had two windows in my room and could look through them to two different sides of the house.I sighted a elderly woman in a black T-shirt and she was sporting the typical double wrapper style common among the Igbo tribe of Nigeria with a pair of that slipper-like wedge elderly women liked.I couldn't see her face clearly but her gestures indicated she was mad about something. She pointed a finger at JB and back at the front
Epilogue "Mantis..." Scorpion said as the recipient picked up the call. "My boss." Mantis, whose legal name was Akachukwu, replied. "One of your guys is passing his boundary and if he's not careful, one spanner lost." Lawrence threatened. "Who? How?" "He's threatening my sister and saying all sort of things." "Who is giving him the liver?" Aka asked. "I don't care. I traced him and I needed you to ask him who he's working for before I tell you any further." "Yes, boss. His na
The D-day was here, it’s Valentine's Day, the day I'd been anxiously waiting and yearning for. I woke up feeling nervous. Nothing must go wrong. By break time, our plan was set to go into motion. I can't wait to ruin them both. I just hoped this plan wasn't too sinister. I walked down to the math lab, that was were the ss2 were having our gift exchange. In a normal setting, we were supposed to receive them as surprise gifts but teachers claimed we would be distracted the whole day. Wasn't the suspense more distracting? I met with Nuel in the math lab, I sat beside him as he pecked my cheek. We were getting more comfortable with each other ever since the day we kissed at his house. For a few days, I'd been suppressing the urge to visit, I remember saying I wanted to take things slow, I couldn't go back on my word. "Baby, I don't think we can go on with plan A to

"Attracta that was-" "Needed." She interrupted. "Yes!" Yetty agreed. "Really?" "Yes, I saw the whole thing. He deserved it." "I'm glad you agree with me." "Why not?" Yetty grinned. "Where are we headed?" "Lunch. My treat this time around." "Aye, Aye captain!" Attracta chuckled. "She'
It was the third year, finally. Time was flying by fast and it was quite scary no matter how relieving the thought of it was. The holidays were too much fun for them, every minute of it was enjoyed. Dennis and Yetty's relationship was waxing stronger by the day. She'd been speaking to his mum for a short while and it was obvious they both loved each other. Attracta was still the lone wolf, single as ever and she seemed fine with the lifestyle. "You're trying to tell me you're not the tad bit interested in a relationship." Yetty asked as they laid up in the living room, chatting. She was laid on the couch while Attracta was sprawled over her favorite bean bag. "Nope!" She sucked on her lollipop. "Not th
"That was epic!" She threw her head back in laughter, super proud of Casper. "Yeah?" He blushed. "Yeah!" She embraced her, bouncing on her heels out of excitement. "You were walking out and he was like Mr Casper, we can settle this." She mocked, in a voice that imitated the Dean. "He looked so petrified." She released another bout of laughter. "You should've seen his eyes when I mentioned the ransom." Cas laughed. "He probably didn't expect me to collect hush money." She laughed. "He didn't see it coming." He threw his head b
Attracta has been skipping GST 201 classes and Yetty had been filling in for her but she couldn't avoid it today, she had to fill in for them both, Yetty was feeling a bit under the weather. She cringed at the thought of going. The lecturer had called her attention twice, professing feelings for her. She sighed as she walked into the lecture hall. A ton of boring words later, the class was over and she tried to leave as stealthily as she could. She'd almost excelled at it till Dipo almost accidentally tripped her. He caught her just in time but it was enough ruckus to draw the attention of Mr Rufus who was almost out of the door. "Peters." He referred to her by her last name. "Good afternoon sir.
Second year of uni started briskly and all the gist was about last semester's results. "Attracta, honestly can't wait to see the results. I'm super anxious." Yetty said as she sat next to her. Attracta who's had enough snapped immediately. "Shut up Yetty!" Yetty was taken aback by her outburst but being the mature, understanding and sensitive soul she was,she didn't dwell on the volume, instead the source was what caught her attention. "Look, I'm -" "Are you okay?" She asked tenderly. "Yeah, what do you mean?" She mumbled. "Something's up with you." She pointed out.
Downstairs, the party was in full swing while Dennis and Yetty made out in his room. He threw her dress over her head, she was clad in only a thong. His pupils darkened as he stared at her breasts, taking a nipple into his mouth as he caressed the other with his hands, kneading gently. A soft moan escaped Yetty’s lips as the sensation made her skin dance. “Yetty. Should. We. Stop?” He asked in between kisses. “Hell no.” She huffed. Yetty was a virgin and he was aware but tonight she was breaking all restraints. “All the way?” He paused to ask her. “Yeah.” She said in a dazed state. “Are
