"...Please...please just wake up..." The voice was familiar and sounded like a whisper, I wanted to speak, but it seemed like too much effort, I felt like someone had dumped a bag full of bricks unto me, I was surrounded by darkness.
I heard sniffling, shuffling and then a gasp, the sound of footsteps accompanied the whole movement. "She's awake!" The voice who I had now identified as Bola, - Spoke up.
"Her fingers...she moved them!"She continued.
Wait. What's going on? Am I unconscious? Do they think I am unconscious?
These thoughts were enough motivation, for me to open my eyes, My eyelids fluttered open, they closed at the same speed though, It felt as if the world was spinning, I took in a deep breath, trying to register my surrounding, It was then I noticed I was wearing an Oxygen mask.
What happened to me?
I tried to recall the events that could have led to this, but my head was blank, I needed to remember, How? Why?
"-Mide" Bola spoke drawing me out of my mini trance, My eyes focused on her properly, and I noticed the panic and worry etched on her face, it was then I realized my heart rate had gone haywire...
Was I dying?
No...no... I can't die...not before I find him.....
I gasped for air, As my weak hands came up to my oxygen mask, Even through my faint mini attack, I could hear Bola's panicked screams as many hands went to work on me, Loud authoritative yells filled the room, probably the doctors trying to remedy the situation
"B-bola" I croaked out, Amid this whole disaster, she came into view once again, her eyes were glossed over and she had bags under her eyes, she took my hand in hers and whispered "Please...Hang on"
Suddenly I felt my body jerk up, I couldn't breathe
I can't breathe
In all this madness and even before him
One name remained at the tip of my tongue and only one face stared at me.
Cole.
*********
"Bola" I spoke. My voice was hoarse and my throat was dry, as if on cue, Bola passed me a cup of water, I smiled appreciatively at the kind gesture.
"You had us all on edge, We were all so scared and terrified"
Us?
"us?" I echoed my thoughts.
"yeah, Me, Cole, and someone you need to meet"
"Who?" I asked as I brought the cup to my lips,
"your father" The sound of glass Shattering filled the room, then silence came right after.
It seemed like the mountain had finally come to Mohammed, and it had a lot of talking to do.
"Are you alright?"Bola asked worry laced her tone.
"How? When?" I suddenly stopped. "Bola, For how long have I been Unconscious?"
Silence filled the room once again, our eyes locked for a mili second before she said the two words that would leave my life in shreds
"Two years"
Two long years, Those two years I spent detached from reality would spew hell on my present, and if my life wasn't a Dilemma already, This time leap was just the Climax it deserved.
My grip on the bed frame tightened. Two years had passed!
"Tell me everything, I mean every single thing"

"You're awake" Cole spoke, his dimples showing, his voice was deeper, and he seemed taller than I remembered, He was dressed in a blue long sleeve body hug shirt, and black jean trousers, Overall, He still looked Stunning. Give or take the bags under his eyes...
"This is for you," He said, placing a bouquet of red flowers - that I hadn't noticed till now - on the table beside me. I smiled. "Thanks, They're pretty" I commented
"I missed you" He Continued. He drew out a chair and sat beside me, We were very close now, he took my hand, He wanted to speak but I stopped him.
"It's been two days since I woke up and Bola's been rambling about how you never left my side -"
"I'm so sorry I wasn't here when you woke up, I -" I shushed him.
"This room is filled with so many bouquets, you made it colorful, Thank you," I said.
*************
He smiled, "These past few years, you've been the only thing on my mind, Ara, I've fallen for you, Hook, line and sinker, I don't know what I would have done if I lost you," He said, our foreheads touched and I could feel his breath on my skin. His words were sincere, But something was off, Something very Important, oh,
If only I had known. If only.
Our eyes locked. Our proximity continued to increase before he pulled away but I stopped him "When I was fighting for my life, I had only one regret, only one name, only one face, It was you, I want to live my life with you, let's explore this world, together, I want to live my life with you" and with that, I closed our proximity and our lips intertwined.

"Another crime of passion" Bola echoed the words from the new paper she was currently reading, I raised my eyebrows,
Since when did Bola read? I guess a lot can change in two years...
We walked out of the hospital together, Cole had gone to get his car, We had grown closer in the past few weeks, and I was indeed very happy, For the first time in my life, I felt secure, No drama, no Stress, no Thrills, Just me, Cole and my career.
I should have known anything too good, was bad news, Literally.
I was in for a bumpy ride, one which I had signed up for ignorantly. Nothing stays the same after two years, I should have known. But I was blinded by love and the happiness I felt, I was so engrossed in fantasy that I forgot reality would soon dawn on me, oh reality did dawn on me harshly
"you ready Sugar?" Cole said wearing his famous grin. He was currently wearing a grey shirt, black pants crowned with black shades, I smiled. His sense of fashion was... Interesting
"Was born ready cookie!" I replied cheekily, causing Bola to go off "awwing" and "oohing" Apparently, she loved being the third wheel.
The fair-skinned girl was wearing grey baggy trousers with a short blacktop, she matched the look with a black jean jacket, Bola was fashionable, any day anytime.
As for me, I stuck with blue jeans and a white tee-shirt that had "We only live once" imprinted on its back.
The ride home was bearable, taking into consideration the fact that Bola was passing meaningful Comments throughout the ride, I turned to glare at her when she compared me to a Tomato, Seriously? What's up with this girl? Of all the beautiful veggies in the world? a tomato?
"Finally," I sighed as I Entered The apartment I considered home, Everything seemed neat and well kept, after all, I had a friend with a special case of OCD, who was apparently in the last stage, If it was up to the curly-haired girl, the whole house would smell like bleach... Wait. I smell bleach...
BOLA!!!!
I chuckled. Throwing another pillow at Cole, who had a pout on his face I was the only one having fun. I rolled my eyes at his antics as I tried to stand up from his bed, He pulled me back in, “And where are you going?” He asked with a smirk“To Work, where else?” I replied cheekily, before I Feigned a gasp, “Do you want to give me a day off cookie?” I taunted, Looking into his blue orbs, “Only if you spend it with me” He replied with a shit-eating grin, I rolled my eyes and slipped out of Bed, We had spent the whole Night cuddling, I had made it clear to him, that I wasn't ready for anything more than that.“Nooo” He grumbled playfully, as I headed into the shower, I stuck my tongue out at him, And closed the door, I undressed and stared at the mirror for a while, Scars never get old, now do they?It had been over two years since Dayo died, or better put Since I killed him. I ran my hands through my hair as the water poured
“She's your sister, right?” I asked, my eyes begging him to say yes.But of course, that answer never came. *********“Aramide! Aramide! Please listen to me!” Cole's yells echoed throughout the streets as he ran after me, I alternated between wiping my tears and trying to get a taxi, I felt used, pathetic, and stupid, once again, once again I had let someone play with me. Why? Why didn't I just stick to my career? Why? Why did I have to fall in love with the wrong person, all over again? “Aramide,” he said again, as he managed to catch up and held my arm, and in a split second my palm collided with his face.“don't touch me” I gritted out through my teeth“hit me!” He yelled, his eyes were red too, had he been crying? Who cares.“Hit me!” He yelled again,
"All of you are incompetent!" The brown-skinned, curly-haired lady spoke up, her eyes lit up with a familiar rage her workers had gotten used to over two years they'd been working for her, she tapped on her brown desk furiously, her eyes sending daggers to her employee's who were stood opposite her. The Lady was dressed in a black blouse and black trousers with a suit jacket, her fierce personality was on display, After all, she was the owner of one of the most important companies in Los Angeles "You had one job! Just one and you screwed it up!" she yelled, other workers had piled up behind the closed door of her office where the whole scenario was ongoing. "Ma'am we-" "Oh shut it! Get out! you all are fired! All of you!" She screeched as she sat back down on her seat, "Clarissa! Clarissa!" the woman barked till a timid lady walked in, holding a small tray, the fair-skinned lady h
“We'll be landing in a few minutes ma'am” Her attendant, Loose said. Aramide absent-mindedly typed away on her laptop, her thoughts were engrossed in only one thing, or better put, one person “Aramide Adegoke Do you agree to be my wife, In sickness and in health, through drama and fireworks, With sugar and cookies?” he asked I chuckled as a tear slipped down my eyes. I quickly took a hold of myself and nodded vigorously. I gladly watched as he slipped the silver ring unto my finger, He helped me up and held me close. “I love you,” I said as a tear slipped. “ I love you more..” he said “More you than you can ever imagine” I replied. And with that, our lips collided and before I knew it, I had given myself to him on a silver platter. Cole Dawn. The man who was the beginning of her end,
“Aramide! “Aramide,” he said again, as he managed to catch up and held my arm, and in a split second my palm collided with his face. “don't touch me” I gritted out through my teeth “Oh my gosh! Aramide where are you? Cole just—” “Y-you knew?” “For how long have you known?” I asked my heart breaking, begging for the answer to be different f
Aramide felt everything at once, panic, pain, happiness, and then nothing at all, The melanin beauty barely registered being taken into Dante's Mansion. She was completely frozen, It had been two years, yet that voice sounded the same, deep, not too high pitched but loud enough to draw attention. "Thanks," I began, Immediately catching his attention "Thanks for everything" I finished. "We're gonna meet my parents tomorrow, Are you excited?" "More than I can ever express!" I giggled. Bola's words echoed in my head, but I tossed them to the back of my head, I wanted to be happy, to enjoy these moments, to relish the beauty of the beach, I just wanted to relax, for a while "Are you alright?" Aramide heard a voice speak, for a moment there she thought she had heard her Cole's vo
Cole downed another shot of vodka barely registering the impatient look on the bartender's face. He had been here for the past few hours, trying to get away from his present and maybe, just maybe reconnect with his past. his past, If someone had told him two years ago that his future wouldn't have his Aramide in it, he would have laughed in their face. but here he was now, tied to a woman he didn't even love because she had a child for him “Another shot” his gruff voice whispered. The bartender raised an eyebrow before speaking. “I am sorry, but you need to leave now, the bar had already closed for the past 20 minutes now,” the man said trying to reason with Cole. Cole looked around. Indeed he was the only one in this bar excluding the bartender. Was he so lost in his thoughts that he didn't hear the loud music go low till
Aramide exited her car the moment she pulled into the driveway, she shoved past her maids and workers and went straight up to her room, the dark-skinned beauty locked the door and slid down it. She sat there, not speaking, or making a sound, just letting all the tears she had bottled up over the years slip down her eyes. All the memories barged into her mind, breaking through the security she had built over the years. Aramide felt raw, exposed, and vulnerable. A feeling she had sworn she would never feel again. Guilt tugged on her, she didn't want to feel this way, she was betraying herself, just by failing to keep to the rules she set for herself. She wiped a tear off her face as realization hit her; Coming back to London was the worst decision had ever made. Loving Cole still topped the list though. At this rate, she would have an epistle.
“I never imagined things would end like this mom,” Aracely’s hands traced the table as she stared at the mirror. She was in her mother’s dressing room getting ready and the brown-haired girl was almost sure that she was going to fall into the nearest bed and doze off. Aracely had no one else to blame but herself though. The nineteen-year-old knew that it was a horrible idea to go out partying all night yesterday which was Christmas, knowing fully well her parents’ wedding was today. “You still took stunning” Aramide commented as she finished up on her makeup. Aracely bit her lip and smiled. The brown-haired girl pulled her mother’s chair back and knelt in front of the woman. “I’ve never told you this but…” she paused. Her breath hitched and her eyes watered with fresh tears. “Thank you” Aracely breathed. Aramide’s eyes glistened with emotion but before she could speak, Aracely took the woman’s hands into hers, “Thank you so much for being my mother for –“ “Aracely, what’s g
“I didn’t believe it when I heard it.” Aracely said when she caught the reflection of a brown haired boy with green eyes at the familiar lake. Her fingers tugged on her white gown as she struggled to breath through her tears and the warm feeling in her chest. She took a step forward and ignored the pain that shot up in her foot when she hit a small rock. She could remember the night she had found this place.Or better still that she had fallen off.She had just left her home for fresh air after her small argument with Latifa- Latifa. Aracely still struggled to accept that she was gone. They had spent their best years together, struggling through the twisted maze they called life. Aracely knew Latifa didn’t deserve to die, no one did. But she was dead. She got she got straight to the head no freaking questioned asked and why? Because she was related to Aracely. Aracely grew up understanding the meaning of l
“You did it,” Bola whispered as she stumbled back, a bit of blood escaped her lips as her hands went to her stomach which had blood rushing out of it. At this point, everyone had frozen and Aramide let the gun fall out of her hands as tears filled her eyes “ I knew you had it in you.” Bola said as she fell. Aramide’s hands covered her lips as her feet remained glued to the ground. She felt someone hold her from behind and it was then she realized from the strong scent of lavender that it was Cole. Tears filled Aramide’s eyes and she couldn’t tell if it was tears of relief or sorrow, she finally regained control of her limbs and walked over to Bola. She knelt in front of her and said “I’ll never understand how and why you did this? I’ll never be able to accept that you have always been like this…” “A monster?” Bola replied hoarsely as a tear rolled down her cheeks, she was laid on the ground her
The first thing Aramide noticed as she walked down the aisle was Aracely’s wide smile, her daughter looked so pretty. She was wearing a short pink gown and had a white bow on her brown hair, it was tied in a ponytail, the wedding was to take place in the garden and Aramide had to admit that Mercedes had done a great job with the decorations, the aisle had been designed with roses, not too far ahead. Efrain stood by one of the two pillars that held up the small space where the couple was to stand under. The chairs that were set in the garden were white, the scent of thick lavender filled the air, it was Aracely’s favorite scent and Aramide could vaguely remember that the scent lingered on Cole too. Aramide mirrored the smile on her daughter’s face, she was holding hands with someone – Cole. Aramide wasn’t sure she remembered when they had gotten together, but over the past two months, they had gotten closer. Ar
Aramide sighed as she stared into the mirror, she was dressed in a white gown and had a beautiful tiara on her newly styled hair. Her hands traced the jewelry on her neck and rested on the space between the jewelry and her off-shoulder dress – where the amulet rested. The one that bound her to her daughter for so many years. It had been a few months since Daniel died. Since he was buried and since Aracely had broken down in pain. The first few months had been horrible, Aracely barely ate or moved around, she was confined to the four walls of her room. Mercedes was devastated. She refused to look or even speak to Aramide. She blamed the brown-skinned woman for her brother’s death and she wasn’t wrong, to be honest. She was right. Aramide could still visualize the compounded images or Mercedes’ eyes with dark circles and her lips pursed into a line. Cole’s deep stares and sighs. The way his hands slowly ran through his
Bola groaned as she slowly opened her eyes, well, one eye. The thick smell of smoke filled her nostrils and she scrunched it up. She bit her lip as she glanced around, she knew something was wrong, yet she hadn’t been able to pinpoint what it was. She could recall going over the hospital that Aramide had been in to get Cole back. That man knew too many of her secrets and now, Aramide knew then too, she could also recall that Aramide had refused to let her take Cole. An argument ensued and things got a bit bloody from there, but how did this happen though? Had she been caught? Was she in prison? She desperately needed answers now. The blonde woman looked around from her place on the bed, she was slowly becoming aware of everything around her, the small night lamp beside the bed, the fact that the w
Aramide let out a shuddered breath as she walked towards the coffin in front of her. The coffin that had Daniel inside. She traced her hands over it and her eyes filled with tears all over again. it had been a few days already. They had all stalled the burial because Aracely insisted that she wanted to be there and deep down everyone was scared and reluctant to say goodbye. Nevertheless, they were all here now. The loss had always been a pain in the neck. Death? death never knocked — It never warned you — It never gave notice and it didn't even barge in. It came like a thief and it stole. it stole someone's life— someone's peace of mind — someone's source of happiness, someone's brother, sister, mother, father, daughter, son. Today Aramide had to say goodbye to someone who always wanted her to stay. She bit her lip. You only really know what you had till you lose it. till a
Bola grunted in pain as she continued down the sidewalk, stumbling into things as she struggled to see with only one eye open. She dragged herself across the ground as she tried not to fall unconscious. One of her hands was over her eyes with a cloth — trying to control the bleeding. Bola was sure that if she survived this—she would make Aramide pay for all the pain she was going through and the fact that she may lose her eye. After everything Aramide had taken from her, now, she wanted to steal her eyesight too? the woman was despicable in Bola's opinion. Bola knew that the probability of her surviving this was very slim. Yes, she had managed to escape before the cops arrived, but that didn't mean that there wasn't this lingering fear of what would happen if she got caught. The last thing she needed was to end up in a maximum prison cell for Daniel. That man wasn't w
“What's going on? Why is no one speaking up?” Aracely asked with worry etched on her features. She had just woken up, her hands clawed on the sheets as she tried to stabilize herself. It was obvious she was still weak and probably disoriented as well with the way her eyes navigated around the room, curiously breaking through her face like wrinkles. “It's not—" Mercedes tried but Aramide cut her off. “You need to be strong Aracely.” Aramide said as she walked over to her and held her hand, a smile spread across the girl's face. ”You are here,” She sighed in relief as her eyes filled with tears, they weren't of sorrow — yet. Aracely reached out for her mother and squeezed the woman's hands tight “What about Daniel? Where is he?" Aracely asked she tried to find him in the occupied room but Aramide was blocking her view. “He didn't come with? Did he go get something? Is he talking to s
