Anna's POV

When I got tired of thinking of the locker incident, I got off from my bed and walked to my reading table. I had my parents put it in for me since they had forgotten I was a student and would be needing one.

There were about four subject notebooks waiting for me there, each with its own assignment. The first was Physics, then French, Biology and AP Math. I worked for about an hour until my brain could take no more. There were still Biology and AP Math left but I just could not take anymore. I stood up and went into the bathroom.

When I came out, I saw the tray Kathy used to serve me and the girls lunch. It made absolutely no sense to wait for her to come to take it, so I gathered the plates in an arranged manner so that they looked neat and neither would they fall. At least I could use that as a distraction from both my homework and the incident that was bothering me.

"Hey Kathy," I said when I en

Third person's POVVanessa got home sooner than she expected. She had planned to stop by the home of the Austin family but time was not on her side, it was almost six o'clock. She arrived home to meet an empty house as usual. It was not empty literally, but it lacked the parental love and attention she believed was due to her. Most times, her parents were too busy with their work to bother about her. In fairness to them, they loved their daughter a lot but they just did not know how to show it.She went upstairs to her room on the first floor. She had a lot of homework to do before the next day but she needed to make a certain call first.Vanessa's room was medium sized. It was smaller than what most people expected the daughter of a rich couple to have but to hell with people's opinions, she like the size of her rook the way it was. Almost everything was in plain view once she opened the d

  • ANNA   Chapter 27

Anna's POVDear diary,Hello there. I'm sorry for not keeping in touch. I hope you can forgive me. Since we moved to America, I have been rather busy. You know, I have never been one who enjoyed traveling let alone moving to a place I've visited only twice. Apart from that, I've been having troubles of my own, lots of troubles.Dear diary, who exactly did I offend? Is it my ancestors or what? Are they angry that we refused to be Muslim? Is this their way of punishing us? To be specific, is this their way of punishing me? It seems that trouble manages to find me regardless of where I am on this planet. I don't know if I should just disappear and never come back or if I should move to Mars.First, it started with Auntie Kayla. Never in my wildest dreams would I have believed that she would take her hatred so far. Well, I did see it coming, I saw it in my dreams but I refused to believe it. I desperately wanted to believe that I w

  • ANNA   Chapter 28

Anna's POVI visibly tensed when the door opened and they just stayed there without coming in. It may have looked odd seeing me sitting on the floor in a strange position. Well, it may have looked odd to my dad because he literally had never seen seen me work out but to my mom, it must have looked perfectly normal. She and I used to work out together in the past.Like normal parents would, I expected them to actually come into the room. That is, I expected them to do that until I remembered that I was not dealing with normal people. That was how I reluctantly got up from the floor.I just turned to face them. It made no sense to go over to the door to usher them in, after all, they had always made themselves comfortable in the past. Why did that day seem to be different?"Good afternoon mom and dad," I greeted with an even tone.My dad cleared his throat - multiple times. I s

  • ANNA   Chapter 29

Anna's POVI contemplated whether to answer Anas' call or not. What he said earlier hurt me to my marrow. I picked up anyway. Might as well hear what he had to say."Ameera, I'm sorry," was the first thing he said."Why would you talk like that, Anas? Yes, I haven't called you in a while but is that a reason to say all those things?"He sighed. "The thing is, you've been talking to Niya and Ahmed about something that's going on in your school. They talked about it today but they were surprised that you hadn't told me about it and question me on whether we had an argument. I felt odd."I could see where his explanation was headed. He must have felt left out that I had been talking all my problems over with only Haniya and Ahmed. He undoubtedly felt like I had decided not to trust him any longer."Anas," I said softly, "you are like the brother I don't have. Why wou

Kimberly's POVI was too scared to step a foot in the cafeteria. After my sufferings of the day before, I didn't think entering that place was in my best interests. Yes, I hadn't gone to the cafeteria the day before, but I was prepared to starve instead of going there. For some reason, everybody had ignored me since I came to school that day. Given the way the brains of my grade mates worked, I knew they were sure to be waiting for me in the cafeteria. No way was I going to fall for their trap.I lingered at the door of the cafeteria for some minutes before turning around. I had several options on where to spend the hour of lunch. I could go to the bottom of a staircase and wait for the hour to pass. I shook my head at that option. It made no sense. Besides, the janitor could find me there and make a report to someone. It was against the rules to be found loitering around the stairs during classes or during lunch time.&nbs

  • ANNA   Chapter 31

Anna's POVWe stood there. Kimberly stood beside me and the four others stood opposite us. It looked like we were having a sparing match. To be honest, I had no idea why I sat to talk with Kimberly. I just felt something tell me to stay to talk. It was fun though. I resolved that I would do my best to get her out of that bitchy attitude. The Kimberly I talked with wasn't the one who tried to bully me. That was when I confirmed that the attitude she showed at school was far from the real her. Besides, there was nothing wrong with hanging out with her. I sent an icy glare at Mason. What did he think he was doing? What was with all these people who wanted to defend me when I had everything ability to defend myself. Had he forgotten so soon that he and I got off on an awfully wrong foot? He did try to embarrass me in front of a lot of people. If I could forgive him, why wasn't I allowed to forgive the ex royal bitchness over there?Unfortunately for him, Mason did not seem to see the dea

  • ANNA   Chapter 32

Anna's POVI gave my parents a deadly glare. "We are so sorry you had to spend your afternoon with those two," my mom said while giving me a hug after we made sure Carly and her brother were gone. I glared at them some more. Carly had insisted on staying in my room until I had to drag her out. By dragging her out, I mean taking her by the arm and literally pulling her away. She sat down on my bed and held on to the frame. I just pulled her some more until she landed on the floor and dragged her out of my room. I then locked it to make sure she didn't go back. Unfortunately for her, I had to pull her down the stairs back to where her brother patiently sat like a normal human being. The part where I actually pitied her a little was when we realized Dex was there. He came to make sure I had gotten home in one piece. From what he said, Kathy told him I was home but he still wanted to see me with his own eyes. Being seen on the floor like a baby must have been embarrassing for Carly, not

  • ANNA   Chapter 33

Anna's POVI woke up with a start. What the hell was that about? It was a dream alright but it felt so real. Too real if you ask me. I checked the time to see that it was three minutes past two in the morning. Great. There went the little sleep I could gather for the night. Knowing my body, there was no humanly possibly way I was going to sleep again anything before dawn."Maybe writing in my diary would help," I said to myself and smiled. It felt like ages since I talked to myself out loud. No, I did not feel like using that diary. It normally took a lot of strength to go and find it before. Instead, I settled on listening to music.I took up my mini speakers and started playing. That did the trick. Soon enough. I was feeling sleepy and gratefully went to bed.♠♠♠"What's going on?" I asked Vanessa when I got to school. Everything was different. There were several colors adorning the school

Third person’s POV“Today, we will be having a pop quiz before the actual class begins,” said the strange teacher the minute he stepped into the classroom.“Good morning, sir,” the class rep said “please don’t be offended, but may we know who you are?”“Does that matter?” the man asked.“Yes sir, it does,” replied Chelsea, the class rep.“Well, my name is Leonard Lamberts and I’m your new Physics teacher,” he said with the creepiest of smiles on his face. The students continued to look in at this weird six foot tall man. He was a lanky brunette with a face so red it seemed like he was slapped all over; his neck was long as that of a giraffe. The black clothes he wore were body hugging clothes so they emphasized his thin frame. His face was already reason enough to laugh, then coupled

  • ANNA   Chapter 45

Anna's POVSitting there in the study, listening to my father's tale was something I hadn't really done in a while. Deep down, I wanted to celebrate this but the situation on ground was too serious for me to do that.I knew that African American woman was up to something. It was written all over her face the first time I saw her in the house. Listening to dad's story was quite disheartening though. There he was, being accused of cheating by a wife he adored with his whole heart. In as much as I always tried to remove myself from their marriage matters, I knew what my dad was capable of. The only thing he knew was that petrol he was dealing and nothing else. He was literally oblivious to anything that did not concern work and to some extent, my mom. That was why I was determined to help him.It seemed like he was at the verge of tears, even. "So your mother is now mad at me because of what her w

Basha Siromani's POVJasmine, an young redheaded Asian lady who happened to be Riley's personal assistant stood before us. She had a distinct look of disappointment on her face which definitely worried me. If she read a wrong meaning into the situation, she was likely to tell my wife and that would end us in a big ditch."Good afternoon, sir," Jasmine said in a cold manner and not in her usual cheerful yet professional manner."Well, what is it you want here? Can't you see we are busy?" the African-American woman said."I can't see what's making you busy," I quickly said, giving her the coldest expression I had, an expression I had not used in a very long time."Jasmine," I said, facing the young lady, "where is my wife?" I made sure to lay emphasis on the word 'wife'."She is currently in the conference room, sir," was the reply. "I actually

Anna's POVWhy do some adults act like absolute idiots? Why do they find it fun to abuse their power and authority as adults? I could not fathom the answers to these questions of mine no matter how I tried. And here, I thought my parents were bad enough.I sat in the car, looking out the window and enjoying the scenery. I might have hated the United States but I had to hand it to them, they sure did no how to preserve nature. The people's lawns were always trimmed to perfection and the parks looked really nice."We aren't going straight home, Annabelle," Dex said, interrupting my thoughts. I pitied the poor guy. There I was claiming to be his friend when I hardly ever spoke to him. I had been a little withdrawn but he and Kathy took the brunt of it all. I really needed to make things up to them."Okay. Where are we going then?" I asked."Your mom said I should bring you to her office."

  • ANNA   Chapter 41

Kimberly's POV"Er, Annabelle, no offense this isn't much of a plan." I was scared beyond measure and the plan she came up with wasn't even a plan on its own. I mean, how does going to look for the writer of that article sound like a plan?"We aren't supposed to make an elaborate arrangement. That would only confirm whatever shit they have said and have left to say," she said. "Just trust me."She didn't know that she was asking a lot by that. I had betrayed people and treated them like dirt. I didn't even have the energy to trust myself. She held my hand from across the table. "You'll be fine. Now, let's get out of here."We went downstairs. Let me rephrase that. She basically dragged me downstairs. I was just too scared to go with her. What would people think of me? Would they believe what Annabelle had to say? Of course, some of them would continue to bully me but would they ever forg

  • ANNA   Chapter 40

Anna's POVIt was another Tuesday. For some reason, I was in very bad spirits. I felt strange, too strange for my own liking. It certainly had nothing to do with the fact that Tuesday was a constant reminder of my beloved nanny's death. Sure, I was naturally sad on that day but this particular thing was something else. I just decided to shrug it off. I felt that it might have been nothing after all. Maybe I was simply overthinking things."Hey, Anna," Vanessa said when I joined her in our homeroom."What's up?" I replied half heartedly."You're up," came the unexpected reply."What do you mean?" I asked. The confusion I felt was evident in the look I gave her."To be honest, I don't know how this concerns you," she began, "but Kimberly is in some kind of trouble and everyone is blaming it on you."I hissed. What was with R
