C H A P T E R - [ 3 ]

After calming my anger by a shot of whisky,I boiled after another round of heated conversation with my father who must be boiling in his own fury,as if I care but he still holds a huge percentage of share in our business and he use it as his nuclear weapon against me.

"To Karena's diner first."I told my driver and he didn't need to be told twice.

Only the special caramel latte prepared by old Karena can reduce my headache.Morever,it is near my office.

In less than thirty minutes,I was at the diner.I put my shades on so the paparazzi don't get a catch of my visit in a small place.I loathe them like a contagious decease.

Phill and other guards quickly surrounded me as it is a public place no matter how much my security is tight, I am always an easy target.

Old Karena,who was working behind the counter smiled at me with her wrinkled pink cheeks.

"Hello Mr. Sherwood how are you?"She greeted me.

"Hot and handsome as always.Now please may I get my special latte?"I asked her taking my shades off.

"Give me five minutes till then take your usual seat."She replied,her hands already started working on my coffee.

I nodded my head and ignoring the stares of thr other customers,I headed to my secluded corner booth facing the backside garden.

I decided to take a quick glance of the newspaper lying on the table. I didn't get a chance to read the headlines in the morning so it was my brief break to read the news.

Nothing was special except the spiced up gossips about a famous movie star and his model ex girlfriend.I groaned on the added pseudo facts.I sail in the same boat.These hungry wolves assassinate someone 's private life to earn some pennies.

My phone buzzed flashing my best friend and my beta's number on the screen.Now he is the next to screw my leftover sanity.

"What the fuck is your problem Jason?If you are calling me to lecture in the behalf of my Dad then I am going to block you."I was about to end the call when his next words caught my attention.

"A girl came to my office for an interview and she is a wolf,"He said.

"So why are you telling me this?"I huffed in annoyance,"Hundreds of wolves live in the city and its not my job to keep their tracks,its yours Jason."

"You don't get me buddy.She is a wolf but not from our pack.Do you understand now?She might be a spy of rival packs but I doubt she is so innocent yet we can't be sure.Looks sometimes deceives."

His words caused my body hairs stood on the end.An outsider means smell of war and as the Alpha of my pack,its my duty to protect each life.

I finished my coffee and stood up to leave directly to our pack house where I have to call an emergency meeting of important pack leaders.Just I was about to leave,a stront feminine scent hit my nostrils.

It was becoming more stronger and intoxicating as I walk closer to the main counter.How didn't I smell this scent before in my life?Who is she and most importantly why her scent made my wolf anxious?

I was sniffing the different human scent some awful like sewer or some overpowering.I was busy searching her when I bumped into a tiny girl's frame.Well not actually tiny but she was nothing compared to my height.

Shit!The smell was coming from her before I could turn to see her face,my wolf growled in victory.

"Mate mate mate!She is our Mate Trevor!Yeee we finally found her.Hey man stop her and take our future Luna to our pack.I can feel her wolf ."Zade,my wolf screamed,mad in his lust for her wolf,his pouncing inside me made it more harder for me not to hate her.

I turned on my heels to see her.I feared if she is actually my type and there she stooe,a lean young woman with blonde hairs loosely tied into a pony tail and milky white skin.Her icy blue eyes darted on me in anticipation. It wouldn't be a lie if I admit,she is one of the prettiest woman I have ever seen but she acted all normal with me it meant she doesn't know who I am as I am not habituated to such reactions from women.

And she is too plain and naive to be my mate neither I need one!

"Watch where you go,"I hissed on her whose big eyes darted on me without a blink and dashed out of the suffocated place to stop the possibilities of my parents to reach her.

On reaching the pack house,I strode directly to the meeting room where all the security council members were already present on an urgent summon by Jason.

They all stood up in respect.

"Good afternoon gentlemen and women please sit,"I gestured them to sit back so we could proceed on the discussions.

"Jason told us that you want to discuss some urgent matters,is it about the recent attacks on our patrollers?"Edmund,the oldest among them and the former beta of mh father asked in everyone's behalf.

"Yes or no,"I said crossing my legs."Its about a new pack's arrival in our city.They aren't identified yet but its never too late to be alerted beforehand.So I want you all to keep a close eye on the trainee wolves specially the first shifters.I do not want another death in our pack,am I clear?"I roamed my eyes in the room.

They all nodded their heads positively.

"Good now start your job from the moment you walk out of this room.We may fall in grave danger.Its our existence's question and the more we are prepare,the more are our chances to become the most powerful wolves on the earth."I tried to motivate their confidence.

"We'll Alpha,"They hailed in unison and one by one they vacant the room leaving only I and Jason.

"Wow Dude it reminded me of those medieval warrior who are on the verge of loosing a historic battle and boom suddenly his encouragement pushed his handful of soldiers win over a manmoth army."Jason laughed.

"Its not a joke."I glared him.The man can never act serious.

"It is called compliment brother.You can take it sportingly."He rolled his eyes.

"Jason I have to tell you something but first promise me that it will remain between us,just us."I licked my bottom lip contemplating whether to tell him about mate and finally my conscious assured me to trust my best friend.

"What is it Trev?"His facial expressions turned dead serious as he drew his chair closer to me.

I took a deep sigh and closed my eyes.

"I found my mate."

The word mate burned my tongue.
