“She knows we’re shifters.” I said to Gavrael through our mind link and he looked at me like I had lost my mind.

“That’s not possible. I killed all those humans involved in your capture. And I checked their minds before doing so. They hadn’t told anyone outside that place about us yet so the knowledge of our existence died with all of them. If anyone else had known of the existence of shifters, don’t you think they would have tried to find us or maybe spread the information to the authorities to find us?” He replied to me through the mind link.

I didn’t take my eyes off the woman. She was now hunched over, almost like she was trying to cover herself from my gaze with the cloak she wore while pretending to be cold. But I knew her shivers were from fear, not from cold. Gavrael was right, there was no logical explanation for why this woman possibly knew of our existence and identified us so easily even among so many people. But I’m supposed to trust my instinct on this journey,
