Chapter 6:

Dragon P.O.V

It's not just about being rejected by my mate. It's not just that which made me lash out, slap her, and threaten her, but the look of hatred I saw in her eyes that made something inside me boil.

Perhaps I handled the situation poorly. I should have understood her fear, knowing that I would be her sister's husband, but that doesn't mean she should reject and hate me.

After leaving her in the middle of the forest at the clearing, I decided to learn more about her. Who is Jenny? Despite my good knowledge of Alpha Anderson, I knew nothing about Jenny, only that she is the Luna of the pack, the Alpha, and their daughter Olivia. Everything seemed normal to me until my assistant came to me with news about Jenny. She is a hybrid daughter of a vampire, abandoned by her mother, and raised in the pack away from her.

The pack's Luna still resents Jenny for a crime she didn't commit, and this made me feel a bit guilty. I might treat her poorly, but no one can hurt my mate.

I understand her suffering and fear of accepting me as her mate. I should give in, for once, and make her the Luna of the pack. For my mate, I can compromise a little. I will go straight to the Golden Sun pack and inform them of the truth that Jenny is my mate and that I cannot continue with Olivia as the appointed Luna.

The interests of the pack remain the same, and nothing changes. I will still marry Alpha Anderson's daughter. I can make Jenny accept me. I will try to make it up to her and apologize.

The strong, fierce, and rebellious Alpha Dragon changed his rules for a small girl. My heart became softer and more compassionate for his mate. So, I must go directly to the Golden Sun pack and end things with Olivia.

I was about to leave and abandon the pack when I received the worst news ever. Yes, my right-hand man told me that Jenny was expelled from the Golden Sun pack and that Alpha Anderson had abandoned her. He didn't state the reasons, but I was sure it was related to me.

I had become a curse in her life, causing her expulsion. I took a deep breath, calmed down, and tried to figure out what to do next. I ordered the pack's soldiers to search for Jenny Anderson immediately, to search every corner of the pack and neighboring packs. They must find her even if it means going to the rogues and finding out if she's among them. But in the end, Jenny won't leave me and go.

Long hours passed with no news of Jenny, as if she had vanished. Everyone was searching for her. Not a single soldier or person wasn't tasked with finding Jenny, but to no avail.

With a heavy heart, I headed straight to her father's pack. I had to understand everything that happened, what happened, and why he abandoned Jenny when she considered him her entire family!

Alpha Anderson welcomed me, with Olivia standing there smiling and the Luna proudly beside her as if nothing had happened, as if Jenny wasn't someone to mourn.

I spoke calmly, "May I speak with you in private, Alpha Anderson?"

My words incited Olivia's anger and increased her fury. I could see this clearly, but Anderson nodded calmly and walked ahead of me to his office, and I followed right behind him.

As soon as he closed the door, I cleared my throat and spoke, "I don't know what happened between you and Jenny, nor do I know the injustice she suffered or how she ended up being abandoned like this. But you need to know something important, Alpha Anderson."

Anderson's features were scornful, but they softened a bit with curiosity as he demanded, "What is it?"

"Jenny is my mate. I discovered this the day her wolf, Aurora, emerged. I didn't know she was Olivia's sister, but what happened between us crossed all boundaries. We had sex together."

I could hear Alpha Anderson's roar as I stepped back. He was simmering beneath the surface, his eyes gleaming with regret. However, he wasn't surprised that Jenny and I had slept together.

I took a few steps forward, standing before him, knowing he was struggling and perhaps filled with intense remorse.

He sat on the nearest chair and exclaimed, "I knew she had slept with someone, but I didn’t give her a chance to explain who it was. I felt she had crossed all boundaries, and that’s why you know what happened!"

"Jenny is my mate, and when she found out, she rejected me. She refused her mate, all because of you, so you wouldn't blame her for getting close to someone who was supposed to marry her sister. And she is the rightful person to be my pack's Luna."

My words were firm and resolute. I didn’t mention how harshly I had treated her, but I didn’t expect his next words.

Alpha Anderson spoke, "Jenny is my daughter; I know her. She left and won't return to the pack. You can't abandon Olivia now. Things will remain as they were."

I expected something else, to wait for Jenny, but he seemed absolutely right. There was no trace of her presence. She had completely vanished.

Anderson exclaimed again, "Olivia mustn't know that Jenny is your mate, nor should anyone else."

I could hear the roar of my wolf, Leo, protesting and raging over Olivia being the pack's Luna and the injustice and cruelty Jenny had faced.

I saw in Anderson's eyes a plea I had never seen before. Anderson was known for his strength and defiance, but today he stood shaken.

I wasn't any less affected than he was. I had also lost my mate, so we needed to resolve things rationally.

I had to end this; I spoke words that came from my heart, not my mind: "Things will remain as they were. Olivia will be the pack's Luna, but I won't stop searching for Jenny. I will find her even if it costs me my life, Alpha Anderson."

I left him as I exited the office, plastering a fake smile for Olivia and greeting the pack's Luna, while inside me, a raging volcano refused to calm down...

"Where are you, Jenny? Where are you, my mate?"
