Chapter 3

DERRICK'S BOND

A mate is created for every Alpha in a pack. They are born to be our partners until another rises.

I was getting to the age that I needed to find my mate. I couldn't get to find one in my pack so I decided to notify the rest of the pack that I would be visiting them just to find my mate.

It was quite risky leaving my pack in search of a mate. I was sure going from one pack to another was the only way I could find my mate.

I took some of my wolves with me on my journey. Getting to the first pack, I got to meet with the alpha who offered to help. He called out all his female wolves in the woods, but none of them were destined to be my mate.

This search went on and on for several weeks, from one pack to another. I got worn out, tired and frustrated, but giving up wasn't part of the plan.

"We are heading to the last pack now alpha" one of my wolves broke the long silence.

"Maybe she isn't alive. I shouldn't have started a search like this in the first place. Let's head back."

Just when I paused on the path to the last pack, I was almost giving up when I sensed someone. I couldn't get it clearly so I headed slowly towards the fire I saw from the woods. There were voices chattering and the sound of the firewoods cracking making it hard for me to get the scent that was dragging me towards the woods.

"Did you get a scent?" One of the wolves asked while following behind.

"Something like that" I answered.

I came to a pause immediately I saw a pack gathered round. The scent became stronger and I could feel a bond to someone I didn't know nor see.

Since the bond was getting stronger, I could clearly approach where it was coming from. Finally, it felt like my search was a total success.

I blindly headed towards the scent until I reached the front of the crowd. They were about carrying out an execution. It was alpha Max's pack, my oldest friend.

All I knew at that moment was that I wanted that girl.

She was my girl.

She has to be the mate I have been searching for.

I took few steps closer to her, "Hold on!" I raised my hands and immediately they crowd kept silent.

She was everything I wanted.

Her yellow eyes lingered in lust, I believe she felt the bond as well. Her dark lips was already bruised due to the torture she had experienced, and her long blunt hair that fell down to her back drew me closer and closer until I hualted in front of her and slowly brush off the blood on her lips. I didn't want to know what she did wrong, or who she was. I just wanted her to be in my arms and heading back to my pack together, as my mate.

"Give her to me, to be my mate" I uttered immediately.

"She is a criminal!" A girl who stood beside Alpha Max raised her voice aggressively.

"Then sell her to me Max." I insisted as I couldn't get my eyes off her. And I realized it was all a mutual feeling when she kept her eyes on me and didn't even blink.

Max looked at me in a pitiful manner and realized what I meant, "release the girl to him" he ordered.

"What are you doing Max?" The girl asked glaring angrily at me.

"Becky. Isn't it a waste to kill her? She could be of help to my oldest friend here. This is the visitor I was waiting for." Alpha Max parted Derrick on the shoulder excitedly. It's been years.

She was untied immediately and handed to me. I stood staring into her yellow eyes. I had never seen someone this beautiful. I runned my fingers seductively through her long hair, while she kept staring at me.

I felt she wanted the same thing I wanted. She felt the same bond too. I found my pair. I just couldn't wait to have her by my side.

"My name is Derrick" I stretched my hands.

"Jasmine Brooke" She shakes his hands.

I took her already cold hands into mine and wasn't ready to let go. I wanted to be more than her mate. She smiled at me while gazing into my eyes, she saw me as her hero, I could tell.

I immediately took off my leather jacket and covered up her bruised shoulder. I could see the tears built up in her eyes, I rubbed her hands softly. I was going to be her hope.

"You don't want to know why I was going to be beheaded?" She asked looking way from me.

I smiled.

"I just want to know if you would leave your past behind and go with me. I don't want to know what you did." I answered.

I believe she was too hurt to remind her of what she did. She didn't hurt me, so it wouldn't matter to me what she did wrong or who she was.

She was my peace.

Derrick has saved Jasmine from death. He was his hero indeed. Derrick truly loves Jasmine. She was his love.

"I would love you to be my mate" Derrick sings this to my ear.

"I would love to" I wryly respond, having no choice. He has come perfectly in time to save my dear life and been his mate would make me strong. Would no longer be regarded as the weak wolf. Derrick his an alpha and am going to be his mate. It gives me the upper hand to revenge.

"What, it can come to pass" Alpha max couldn't believe it.  "Go away" Alpha max said to one of his own pack who brought the news to his ear. Alpha max has been beaten down this time.

"Not in my eyes, will i see Jasmine go scot free". Alpha max furiously said. He had to do something.

"Get out of here, leave the pack and never again return back" Alpha max ordered. He banished us from the pack not minding Derrick as his best friend. He has betrays their friendship just to regain the prowess of his name.

Max was also an alpha. "We had to leave" Derrick told me.

"We had to" Assuring him that we had no choice. We headed back to his own family of wolf.

On our journey back, getting tired we ask for help along the way."Please give us water" Derrick begged pitifully. "No, we wouldn't, she is a criminal" They made me knew what i did wrong. I gazed down, when i hear there displeasure. They will not listened to my inner innocence before they judged me. They forced me to kill, and i did.

"I don't care about your past, i care about your future because you are my mate" Derrick put hope into my wolfery body. "If we get home, you will find a place" He assured me.

"No we can't accept her into the pack" said alpha of the pack. "She is a criminal, she would betrays us too" He furiously respond.

Derrick couldn't believe his ears. He had been betrayed by his own pack for the sake of love. Derrick has done a hard work to get her mate. Should he reject me? He was confused. I was his mate.

"I did a very sterious work, just to have her as my mate" Derrick told Jared. "Now no one approves her stay with me, i don't really care about her past, past is past, she is my mate" He proceed to tell Jared.

"You have to desert from her, if you still want to regain your alpha" He adviced Derrick.

"I don't want to desert her, she is my mate, if i do? I don't know when i will meet another mate, i may not" Derrick lashes back at Jared.

"Come here, you had to, i was the one who killed Lucy my former love, so as to just regain my name as an alpha" Jared spring out his long hidden secret just to convince Derrick to desert Jasmine.

Derrick was surprised. "You are heartless, so you did such and never admit" Derrick said his voice shaky.

"I had to" Jared defended himself. "The ball is in your court". He roared at me on my way back home. The ball was in his court and he had to awake to it.

"I know what to do" I told his subconscious and he did.

"Get out from the pack, you have no home here" He said, betraying his love in the eyes of all. He was harsh. "I don't know you, and i don't want to" severing my heart mercilessly. He had done this in the open, where even the blind wolf can see. He denies her love.

I looked into his eyes, his eyes were coming opposite to his words. He had betrays his mate, her  love. I almost collapsed thinking the world would just stop, so as to stop with it. I had been betrayed again this time not Becky but by my mate Derrick. I was stabbed in the heart and it weaked my body.

"Where should i go" i cried back.

"I don't want to know, just leave" Derrick hesitated.

And surely i leave, with my weak body i leave.

Walking aimlessly through the wild forest, i had no where to go, to where to run back as home.

"Help me, help me" i shouted, i really want to put life into a stop, but not this type of death, i wanted to die at once and not gradually, i couldn't bear it. The trap in the pit, couldn't make me withstand the pain, i couldn't have it in my weak wolfery body. "Help me, help me" i shouted the more and loud, but i really want to die but it be instant.

James came in time to rescue me. "You should be more careful, you at the verge of death" He said coming to my aid kindly.

"Thank you for sparing my life" I openly said to return the kindness, thinking he shouldn't have helped me.

"How do you get here in the first place,it's dangerous been here" He said busy caring after the injured parts.

"I don't know, anyway i just want to be died at once" I barely said.

"I can see you need help". He lifted me and carried me to his cot to cure my broken body. I couldn't resist his help, i needed it.

From there on, James has really been treating me as if i was his child. He lacked a mate regardless of a child. I eat the larger part of hunt without taking part in a hunt. I was James's child, a full grown wolf.
