You can't be serious

Jake followed Cassie upstairs to the main bedroom because he knew that something was wrong. When he opened the door Cassie was packing his clothes into a suitcase neatly.

" Cassie, what are you doing? "

" I'm packing your clothes and everything that is yours and anything that has your name on it or reminds me of you we are so done I don't know how you could lie to me, for 5 years and not tell me the truth that you cheated on me and kept it a secret have you any idea how many lives you've ruined? "

" I was going to tell you. I didn't know how to tell you when you were so happy about me asking you to marry you,and you planning the wedding all by yourself and not with me. We are a couple after all you're supposed to plan the wedding together and plan out our marriage together. "

" That's not happening anymore. "

" Cassie we can talk about this "

" We should have talked a year ago when you lost your side chick ,let me say your girlfriend because you spent more time with her than you did with me, and you have a son with her. She gave you what I couldn't at that time so; let's just call a spade a spade and agree that this relationship is not a relationship, to start off, you were just too perfect and I cannot do perfect anymore. I cannot pretend that everything is okay when everything is not okay because you are never emotionally available. You're emotionally available when you want something from me. What kind of relationship is that?”

" Your parents didn't like me. "

" I get that they don't like you but I fought for our relationship. At least you could have been honest with me and tell me that you're not in love with me ,and that you're in love with a married woman who died on the way back from being caught in bed with you. What the hell. "

" I'm not a workaholic. You're the one who is a workaholic and I'm done playing pretend with you. I'm glad you found out the way you found out I couldn't have it any other way. You are not even wearing your engagement ring. "

Cassie rolled her eyes and shook her head in disbelief. She momentary left what she was doing and spoke;

" You do realize that we are having rotational power cuts ,and while I was going to view houses that would be perfect for us to start a new life and start a new family the power went off so I was stuck in the elevator with Grayson Christianson."

"You are not supposed to know anything, he signed a non-disclosure agreement about the night his wife died and the people who were involved. I loved Viv and it's much more different to the way that I loved you but I genuinely did love you, and I thought that we could build a life together but with you, it was just a financially secure Union, I wasn't going to be with you for a very long time.I was actually going to file for divorce and then go live my life with the person that I truly loved. I'm sorry I put you through a lot for the past five years and the past year but I cannot pretend anymore and I cannot do this so I understand if you want to break up with me I will move on with your life. "

" You go and do that. I'm done with you. I'm done with this relationship and I don't ever want to see you or speak to you or hear from you ever again. I will get over this. I will in my own time but as of now you and I are no longer an item and I will tell the world and everybody else that we are no longer an item"

Cassie took off her heels and dragged the suitcase down the stairs.

" Are you serious right now? "

She walked towards the door and opened it she looked at Jake and spoke;

" Please leave, I will send my assistant to come and get my stuff from your apartment. I don't want anything to do with you. My assistant will come through tomorrow to come fetch my stuff or would you prefer that she come through tonight? "

"Tomorrow afternoon is fine because I'm knocking off work early. You know I had the highest hopes for a relationship but you won't find anybody like me. "

" Damn right, I won't. You are too perfect and look what I ended up with. I ended up in a relationship that was full of lies ,so please leave and just get out before I do something I'll regret. "

Jake took the suitcase and opened the boot of his car and placed the bag inside, he slid into the cockpit and started the car. He drove off and Cassie closed the door. She called her father to tell him that she needed a break from work for a little while because she had just called off her engagement. As soon as she was done cleaning up and getting into her pajamas,she double-checked that she had everything in order so that she could take some time off work she had scheduled content for an important client it was well after noon when she was done with most of the work she needs to do so that you could take a break ,or just get out of town for a while.

When she woke up the next morning a reminder came in from Brendan, an old friend of hers who was getting married that she had a flight to catch. She responded to the message and after making sure that she had packed what she needed in her overnight bag, she cleaned up, dressed in dark blue denim pants and a white crew neck long-sleeve top, she grabbed her jacket and luggage and headed to the airport.

Meanwhile,Greyson wanted to return the clothes Cassie had lent him, he was feeling bad for the way he treated her last night. The kids had already left for school and Meagan could see that there was something wrong with his brother.

" I'm leaving for work in the next 5 minutes. Please tell me what happened last night. "

He took a deep breath and looked at his twin sister;

" I was mean to Cassie and I need to apologize to her for the way I treated her. "

" I don't think she's home. A friend of ours is getting married ,and since I'm working and you are off why don't you take my place. Everything is paid for and it's out of town. You can Zoom Call the Kids when you land. You need some time off to take the trip. You do remember Brendan, right? "

" I do, he's a cool guy. If memory serves me correctly he wanted to marry you "

"He isn't and was not my type and besides we made better friends. I will hold things down ."

" I don't even know where my passport is. "

" It's in the safe. "

" The plane tickets? "

Megan took out a plane ticket in her bag and wrote down the address of the hotel.

" Jenna ."

" I will tell her you're on a business trip. "

Meagan hugged her brother and let go.

" Have fun in Vegas and please don't get too drunk and marry a girl you don't love. "

" The plane leaves in an hour. "

" You can make it and I'm saving you from doing something stupid. You can thank me later ."

" I plan my trips "

" I am the Queen of impromptu plans. Besides you have the hots for Cassie and you know that Jenna is in love with the idea of you. I can handle her going and pack light whatever you need. You'll get there. I have to go ."

" Love you bye. "
