Chapter 5

" Cass, are you okay? Jenna told me what happened and she is now worried that Grey might be questioning their relationship. We've been texting and calling. I'm so sorry I dropped you at the ninth hour. Are you still with Grey? "

"Your brother is a piece of work. I waited for an hour and he delegated everybody else when my meeting was exactly at the time that I arrived besides I arrived 30 minutes earlier but he took an hour to delegate. Who does that? "

"My brother. Is he giving you a hard time?”

" Not only him but his side chick Gina. I wanted to break bread with him ,and give him the benefit of the doubt but there's no giving that man the benefit of the doubt. I swear he is such a piece of work. He told her that he was using me after she was giving me attitude. It took everything in me not to call her boss. "

" What is this I hear about you being stuck in an elevator with him? He hasn't gotten into one since the accident happened ,so how and when did he decide that it was okay to get into an elevator with you? I hope that he didn't freak out on you."

"He did but I wasn't freaked out. It's nothing I can't handle and it's nothing I haven't seen before. How did everything go today? "

" Isabella had a quarrel with Gina when we were having lunch with Eli and Jake. If Jake didn't call Gina to order we'd be in a worse situation. "

" What happened? "

" Gina called my sister-in-law a bitch that deserved to get cheated on. She was bold enough to tell us that she almost …"

" Almost doesn't count. "

" In this case, it doesn't. She said she almost slept with my brother. "

"What is up with Greyson? Can he not just exercise a bit of self-control?"

" He can. I think it's listening right now because I can hear your car moving so I need to congratulate my brother for exercising self-control where you were concerned ,because you tick every box with regards to the type of girls he likes. "

"Rebels ? "

" You are a sweetheart. "

Greyson rolled his eyes and interjected;

" Megan, I am right here and I can't believe my ears. Offended much. She's engaged to Jake. "

" The Jake you know and love to fight with. "

" Please don't tell me that you're talking about the man that cheated on his girlfriend and made me keep quiet about his indiscretions because if she is engaged to him, she needs to know the truth"

Cassie was trying to process what she was hearing.

" What are you talking about?"

" Turner. I can't believe that he didn't tell you that he was going out with Vivian, and I told him that it wasn't going to end well because there will be a lot of people that were going to get hurt, but he didn't listen to me and it baffles me why he didn't tell you cause you're engaged to each other that's weird ."

" I will ask him. "

Cassie didn't know how to feel and she was trying hard not to cry.

" Greyson, behave yourself. "

" I'm always a gentleman. "

" Take care I love you both. "

The line went dead.

"Greyson Did you know that my Jake was the same as the Jake who made you sign the NDA? "

" I had my suspicions but I didn't know that you were going out with him, and that you were well on your way to tying the knot with him, he said that is what had happened with my wife come out he would lose everything that he's ever cared about, but he had a child on the way I just don't get how that accident happened on that night and I tried to make sense of it ,because she knew that she was going to destroy an engagement and she had already destroyed the family unit. "

" The NDA?”

" My sister didn't sign it and now he is claiming that my son is his son ,we are waiting for the DNA results and we made sure that it's people that he can't pay off so we ordered three DNA tests and the results were supposed to come in today that's why he went to my house and I just don't know how you didn't know what he was up to when the both of you went out together, and you spend every moment together or is there something that I'm missing…"

"I'm missing something. I'm just trying to wrap my head around the fact that I was being cheated on and I didn't know it. I thought that the guy was with was an upstanding guy but I thought nothing of it and I didn't know that Viv was the old friend you were talking about . "

" Are you happy in the relationship that you're in or do you want to get out and you don't know how to? The both of you are hella loaded so you can both get out of whatever agreement you decided to make whether it be business or out of love."

" I can't explain to you how many times I've had to go into the masculine instead of staying in the feminine side of my personality because he's always doing stuff that just doesn't make sense even now. "

" Has your relationship always been satisfying for the both of you?"

" In what way? "

" Intimacy. "

" It was okay … until he started being distant."

"Your father? "

"He has never approved of my relationship with him. Both my parents did not like him until recently."

"I'm not going to pretend to know how you're feeling. I understand what you're going through right now because it differs for many people and for me, I wanted to just punch the l life out of him but he would have made my life a living hell and I've got a reputation to hold up however you don't deserve what he did to you ."

"He was the last person I expected to do what he did and I'm trying to find reasons as to why he wouldn't but that's just me making excuses for him, and he just got out of a relationship. I need to make sure that I hear his side of the story as to why he decided to cheat on me, make a baby with someone else and not tell me anything."

"So you were the woman that he called to cancel on was the date that important because after he was with my wife I found out that he was engaged so it was right after he found out that my wife was dead that he asked you to marry him, question remains that if what happened with regards to the accident didn't happen would he still want to marry you and would you still want to marry him?… why are you denying that you are catching feelings for me cause I'm certainly catching feelings for you ."

" You are in a relationship with one of my friends. I cannot do that because it's against girl code,and even though your sister doesn't have proof and your sister knew what she was doing when she decided to take a rain check on my meeting with her today. I think I just need to heal properly before I bleed on people that didn't cut me and that's the last thing I want to do."

Cassie didn't like traffic. The only thing she liked about it was a smooth ride home that's why she clocked early and not that late but today was a different day and she had been through enough already and the weather was mimicking what she was feeling inside.

"In my defense, I don't know if we are talking about the same person, and now that you know because my sister told you indirectly. I didn't say anything. I can tell you the whole truth and nothing but the truth but it's going to hurt because he's been doing this for a couple of years now and I only found out two years ago."

" Poor Elisha. Do you by any chance have a picture of him? "

I do and we just happen to have the same phone so may I use your charger?

She nodded. She opened her phone and then pinned in Grayson's phone she immediately started texting Jake. The only thing she wrote was this: " I know the truth and you should have told me when it happened. I would have been much more forgiving right now. I don't know if I can find it within me to forgive anything that you've done because it feels as if everything we worked hard to build was a scam ."

Grayson's phone jacked up and the only way to tell if Eli was indeed Jake's son was the birthmark every Turner male had and if he looked like Jake growing up.

" I know for a fact that Isabella is mine because my wife hadn't reconnected with Jake and the time frame makes sense. "

" Jake started acting strange and distant when he relocated to Johannesburg."

" Let me guess the behavior that he's been displaying for the past two years hasn't been like his normal behavior has it? "

" No ."

"Here I have a picture. Is it safe to show it to you or do you need to concentrate on the road?"

" It's fine. "

She glanced at the screen and back on the road."

" What is it? "

Cassie took a deep breath and spoke;

" Elisha looks like Jake and his father at that age ."

" Oh, my word ."

" I don't think I want to view those houses anymore so I'll send your sister a message to cancel my next couple of appointments."

" You just confirmed that my son isn't my biological son, how do you think I feel? "

" I'm so sorry. "

" For once just stop apologizing, your fiance has been lying to you for five years. For someone whose life is so perfect you sure as hell have bad taste in men. Maybe you deserved to get cheated on. I didn't mean that ."

" Yes, you did ."

“Talk to me.”

The traffic started moving and Cassie didn't respond to Greyson. She was planning on taking the long way home but she took a shortcut. As soon as they arrived at Grey's house, he stepped out of the car and didn't say a word to her, she drove off and when Cassie pulled up next to Jake's car he stepped out of the house to meet her but she just passed him as if he wasn't there.
