Chapters nine 

Debating

Emily shivered and shuffle through the stuff she kept in her office to see if she could find anything to help her with the cold .

The air conditioning  in the  officewasn't helping at all . At last ! 

She found a big old jacket that she could wore over her clothes. It wasn't even hers probably belongs to Eliza or somebody . 

She went to her seat to get  the work of the started. The telephone rang and she cursed out loud .

"  Come to my office now ". He said in his usual voice.

She hugged the coat to herself more and mentally prepared herself for whatever he had to say .

"I need a hot cup of chocolate. The usual ." He smirked at her unsightly state . 

That devious smirk. Emily would be very happy if given the chance to wipe it off his sadistic mouth .

Emily rolled her eyes and went out of his office fighting the urge to slam the door .

Samuel walked up the stairs to his brother's office . He had called him and Gabriel if he could guess to meet him in his office to discuss their situation. 

He was the only one of the three brothers that wasn't working at the Gerald's communication. So he hardly ever comes here. 

He met the dramatic girl  whose name he later learned was Emily  when he was about to  enter his brother's office . His guess what that she wasn't satisfied with whatever his brother  had told her judging from  the apparent frown on her face .  She saw him and force a smile and bowed a little.

" Good morning sir . Thank you for your help yesterday. I'm very grateful. " She said

" You're welcome. "He replied and walked briskly to his brother's office .

He entered and saw his brother fully immersed in what he was doing . 

" Gab's  not here yet?? " He asked casually plumbing down on the chair opposite him 

" He's not. " He replied without looking up . Just then , the door opened revealing Gabriel who had a huge grin on his face .

"You guys are here early . " He commented and sat down on the other chair .

" Mike !! Will you close that laptop of yours and tell us what you called us here for ? Huh? " Gabriel spoke and face Micheal whose head was currently burried in some files on the table. He had moved from the laptop to the files .

" Just a minute. " He replied without looking up

" Well you should have finished whatever you were doing before calling us here . I still have a lot of things to do !! " Gabriel snapped at his brothers and Samuel just sat there without saying anything, watching his brothers bicker as always.

Micheal closed the files and faced them with a serious expression on his face . Gabriel smug grin was no where to be found and Samuel moved his chair closer to him . 

The atmosphere had totally changed from the familiar to a business one . 

The one that they had when dealing with their enemies or when they were in a very serious meeting.

" Concerning our situation I have an idea " Micheal spoke out loud assuming his role of the elder . Which he rarely does.

Both Gabriel and Samuel listened with rapt attention waiting for him to continue. The sound of the door opening distracted their attention for a bit .

Emily came in bearing a cup and some lollipops on her hand .

This explains why she had a frown on her face when I saw her z Samuel thought .

She dropped the content on the table and smiled at Micheal . Forced smile .

" Thank you for your help yesterday sir . " She faced Gabriel and bowed a little her eyelid .

"You're welcome. " He returned her smile and caught a dark look from Micheal face from his side eye.

Interesting! He thought .

"As I was saying... " Micheal said bringing the hot cup to his mouth and took a sip .

Gabriel snatched the cup from him and drank a little from it . His  face contorted into that of dislike

" What's this ?? Why is it so sweet?? " Gabriel almost spat out the liquid 

Micheal grinned and burst into laughter. " Serves you right. That's chocolate with two shots of honey "

" How dou you do it ?? " Gabriel asked wiping his mouth with a handkerchief

" Alrighty. Let's get on with our initial conversation. " Samuel called out to them 

" Yeah right . I think we should contact Antonio . " He said and waited patiently for their reply 

" What for ?? " Samuel asked and Gabriel glared at him .

Why must he always beat him to it ?? 

" He has a theater school . Where they train actresses and singers. " Micheal replied calmly

" That'll be a good idea. I just hope it works out . " Gabriel chimed in still making faces from the drink .

" Let's give it a try. " 

Antonio was their cousin. They have been close since they're little.

 The phone rang and the person picked it up on the third ring 

" Hello ? " The receiver said

" Hi Tony . This is Mike " Micheal informed him impatiently.

" Oh Mike . What's up bro? You changed your number? . It's been a long time bro ." The voice sounded enthusiastic, whereas Micheal was least enthusiastic about what he was about to ask 

" Yeah bro.  It's been ages. But I need your help . " Micheal said 

" My help? That's unusual . What would the almighty Micheal Gerald need from me? " He chuckled at the end

" What do you mean almighty!?? . " Michael replied jovially

" Well how can I be of help to you ?? " He asked the question that Micheal has been expecting all this while 

"Well you own a theater school right? We need some of your actress"

"Actress? Oh sorry I can't help. We're short of them right now . We have very little population of actresses and even the ones we have are already engaged in one movie or the other.  " He spoke his enthusiastic voice now curious.

" Really??? No problem then . I'll talk to you some other time  . " Or never,  he added under his breath 

He look at his brothers expectant eyes and sighed 

" He doesn't have actress right now " he told them solemnly.

" Fuck it !! What are we gonna do now ?? " Gabriel asked loudly

" When is mum coming back ? " Samuel asked Micheal . Micheal pinched his forehead, a habit that shows he's stressed or annoyed 

" On the 4th of July. "He said

Samuel checked date on the calendar hanging above Micheal's head and sighed 

" We've got no time again . " Samuel informed them and they all moved their head simultaneously to the calendar 

Today's June 27 

What the heck have they been doing since all this while?? 

Micheal raked his hand through his head and Gabriel looked down at his feet 

" What should we do now ?? " Michael asked them 

" Do you know which type of girl that mum would approve of ?? " Gabriel asked Micheal and he shook his head in negative.

Samuel did a few thinking and came up with some absurd ideas

1. Check through the list of their of  numerous  girlfriends and see if there's anyone responsible

They did so and had no luck .

Most of their girlfriends were either pea brained or bratty and slow-witted.

2. Try to delay their mum from coming pending the time they're find a solution .

They tried . But failed . Their mum had told them clearly that she'll be coming no matter what

Emily came in to drop some files and met the three of them in deep thinking. 

One had his head bowed and the other two gaze forlornly into the space.

She gently dropped the files and zoomed out of the gloomy Atmosphere in the place .

" I think I have an idea. And it'll work but only if you guys cooperate." Gabriel said and sat uprightly.

The other did so too and waited for him to spill his ' oh so good idea ' 

" How about we approach your secretary and her friends?? . " Gabriel said in a serious manner

Samuel frowned and thought about if for a minute before nodding in agreement.

" I think that'll would work too. If we approach them in a polite way . On a contract base ."

They both stared at Micheal and waited for his opinion when suddenly he burst into laughter as if he had just heard the most funniest joke ever .

" What's funny?? "Gabriel questioned angrily.

" You both are !! " He said in between laughter

" You expect me to date my secretary?? Someone with no taste or class?? That wack girl?? Impolite imbecile?? "Michael spoke out loud. Angry . As if being bitten by a dog 

" Calm your f* cking horses down ." Gabriel stood up and met his gaze 

Samuel quickly stood up and dragged the two of them back to their seat 

" You guys are just so ... impossible to deal with." Samuel spoke to them in a condemning way .

" You should talk to Mike "Gabriel said 

" Are you talking to me right now?? ." Micheal stood up and grabbed Gabriel by his collar 

" Do . You . Want . Me . To . Kick you where the sun never rise ?? With my boots ?" He pointed his boots at them 

They both used their hand to cover the lower part of the belly and gently went to their seats.

   Good !! 

"Now you'll listen to me else I'll kick you there " he pointed at their manhood.

They kept quiet like some obedient little kids that are afraid of being punished

" I wasn't talking about real dating . I clearly said on a contractual agreement. We only need to pretend not actually date ." He looked at Micheal straight in the eye and Micheal looked away .

" Still. ..... she's a wretch . She doesn't know anything about being wealthy. " Micheal said again

" We still have days to teach them . And we aren't even sure they'll accept." Samuel spoke again

" Mum would only be staying for three weeks right,???" Gabriel confirmed 

" Perhaps we should give them 20million or something? " Samuel  suggested

" What the f* ck?? "Micheal eyes widened

" What's up with it?? Is it too little??" Sam asked

And Gabriel smiled

" It's too much?? What are they supposed to be doing for that three weeks?? Cutting woods ,?? That money is too damn much .!!! " Micheal yelled and Gabriel laughed so hard that he almost fall off the chair 

" What's the matter with you?? Why did you loathe her so much . You're acting as if removing 20 million dollars will have any impact in the number of zeros that you've got in your account." Samuel whined already frustrated with his brothers behavior 

" But 20 million dollars is too damn much for them !! " Michael argued again

Gabriel just kept laughing and Samuel was tempted to smack his head

" Alright. How do we tell them ?? ". Gabriel asked after series of laughter

" We'll talk to Emily first. Then she'll talk to her friend and we'll wait for their reply" Samuel commanded 

Thank God that he was there. His brothers would never have reached an agreement. There were always at each other throat

He checked the calendar again and hoped that they're plan would work 

Else they're going to lose all that they've been working for since almost all their lives.

Because of some silly girlfriends.
