Lucas didn't hesitate to come to my aid when I told him I needed help. He left the company without permission and drove over to my apartment. I entered his car and he drove me to his apartment. I wasn't sure if I could trust Lucas but I knew I had no choice.

He offered me a glass of water. “Are you okay?” He asked me, his voice tinged with concern.

I forced a smile and took the glass of water from him. My eyes had swollen up and looked so puffy from crying so much.

“Thank you…” I said, collecting the glass of water from him, then shook my head to his question.

He heaved a sigh and sat beside me on his couch.

“What happened? Seems you have been crying so much”

I sighed deeply and gulped down the glass of water he offered me before reaching out my hands to keep the glass on the table.

I turned my gaze to his. “I want to flee from Diego. He has been nothing but manipulative and a liar, a deceiver. I don't want him to ruin my life” I asserted, sadness colouring my words. I
