“How could I what?" Page asked, her heart was beating profusely.

‘Please Lord, let this not be about what I think it is. Did he find out about my acquittance with Will?’ she cried within.

Rowan was getting angrier and impatient. He flung his jacket across the sitting room and got up with a straight face.

At this, she was trembled in fear, not liking how mean he looked and acted.

“I neither have the time nor the strength to stand here and watch you play dumb with me. I do not like it when people try to take me for a ride. You know too well what I am talking about," Rowan said.

"Seriously Rowan, I do not have an idea of what you are talking about,” she shook her head slowly with furrowed eyebrows.

“Then you would rather I spell it out for you, right? Ok. What relationship do you have with Will? Let's forget he is my best friend as you never knew he was. Let's regard him as another man outside this union. Now, tell me what I need to know," Rowan stony eyes held Page's face.

An unhesitated step after the other, she took, not looking back, not stopping to rethink her decision. No one was around that area at that time of the night so sadly, no one could drag her out and scold her for going that deep into the sea. Technically, Page was a lady with many talents and skills but swimming was not one of them. She only knew the techniques in swimming but never practiced them on her own or succumbed to learning how to swim from her sport instructor. Her slight interest to learn how to swim after Lina had persuaded her got incinerated when she once went on a hangout to the beach with her and watched a man who had said he was a professional swimmer go into the sea to save a little girl who had been swept by a strong wave but never came out. His fiancé –he had engaged her the day before– who had tried to dissuade him from doing so swore to drown herself if he did not get out of the water safely with the little kid. She had screamed and cried and writhed when people

Lina had kissed Derek goodbye and apologized to him for not being able to go home with him that night. Page's door was locked and Lina was on her bed, sitting with her legs folded whilst Page was laying on the bed in her nightdress, listening to Lina talk.Page had asked Lina how they knew she was on the beach and why they had all come together. She laid quietly as Lina began to vividly explain. She told Page that from the time she left her house to her home till the time she decided to go check up on her, she was apprehensive. Derek had paid her a surprise visit with an alluring bouquet of flowers that consisted of Mallows, Nemophila and Red carnations, all having their significant meanings and sending sweet sentimental messages to her. Mallow is considered an aphrodisiac and can inflame the passion of one who smells it. Nemophila says you are my one and only and Red carnations symbolizes appreciation and eternal love. “Cancel my morning meetings Katherine, I have something I have to attend to but I would be at the office before noon. Hopefully,” Page said to Katherine over the phone.“Yes ma'am," Katherine replied before the call came to an end.Page wore her intoxicating but soft floral mix and walked out of her room. Rowan was no where to be seen when she got down the stairs so she comfortably left without having to deal with his presence. She had called her youngest chauffeur that morning because she did not feel like driving. He opened the door to the car she felt like going to work in that morning; a flashy red car.“You look extraordinary today Miss Page,” he complemented her."Thank you. New day, new me,” she smiled and got into the car when she took off her sunglasses. Her chauffeur didn't understand her statement fully but brushed it off and closed the door. She rocked an entirely different style that morning. She was on a cream long-sleeved shirt and likewise, a cream loose-fitting high-

“I was asking why you told Rowan we have shared a kiss," Page uttered, reminding him the question she had asked before he changed the topic. “It's complicated Page," Will sighed and answered.“What do you mean it's complicated?"“I mean that you would not understand why, obviously."“I am not dense Will. You have not told me anything yet so I do not get why you would assume I would not understand whatever you want to say,” Page said, putting her sunglasses down on the table in front of her. She knew she would be able to understand his reasons as long as he explained them clearly to her. Someone telling her she was not going to understand something without having said anything often irked her. Will was quite as he thought of the best way to explain things to Page.“The thing is…” he trailed off, taking a breath. Page wore a look that urged him to go on. She was starting to get tired of the suspense.“Okay so, I told Rowan that we kissed to punish him emotionally for disrespecting y

Page concealed her hickeys behind a handful of her hair which fell over her shoulder as soon as she got into the elevator that led to the building's grand floor. She leaned against the wall of the elevator and breathed shakily, her bag clutched by her both hands. She ran her hand over her hair gently to make sure it was still neat and not sticking out in different places –she did not want to give his employees a hint of what had happened between her and their boss in his office. Outside, she got into her car and dropped her bag on the passenger's seat beside her. She waited for her erratic breathing to become stable before turning on a really nice dance-tempting music and heading to work. The thought of what had happened in Will's office filled her mind so she was neither focused on the music nor danced. She brought her car to a stop in front of her company and got down. With her hand stretched, she handed her key to her chauffeur –the one always at the front of the company. She had

In a sleek ultra-luxurious La Voiture Noire, Rowan drove, in a neatly ironed checked shirt with various shades of blue, a pair of black trouser and a pair of shiny black shoes to Will's parents house. His grandad had called to inform him that Thomas Garrett, Will's dad had returned to California after his three weeks trip to seal off some business deals and his wife, Eleanor Garrett, a sweet easygoing woman had suggested they get together, eat, laugh and catch up. She had informed Mr. Matthew Cannon about it as soon as she took the decision the day before and he had taken it upon himself to pass across the information to Rowan. Calling his grandson earlier to acquaint him slipped his mind so he had called an hour and thirty minutes before the get-together, right after he remembered. Though Rowan was not upset that he was apprised at that time, his grandad apologized. He took with him a bottle of expensive champagne, Mr. Garrett's favorite and a big bouquet of flowers, concretely peo

EpilogueAgain, nothing beats family.Yes, there would always be fights, arguments and trials but then again, what are relationships without all of that. Quarrels being settled after a little period of distancing from one another, just a little, only makes the bond between them stronger. That, I say, is a fact very well proven if you in anyway doubt this theory.“How could you have thought that I hide such a sensitive information from you without ever planning to tell you at some point?” Page asked Rowan in disbelief."Well, you didn't tell me yourself did you? I had to find out from someone else,” Rowan replied, pissed but not screaming too loudly. “Why are you seeing it that way?”"Because it's what it is Cupcake. How else do you want me to take it?” He asked, taking off his hand that was on his forehead and looking at her. They were in their bedroom, Page seated on the bed, facing Rowan while he was standing in front of the wall, his back leaning against it.“I didn't tell you th

A hand stretched to where she had sat, Page picked up the small envelope Will had dropped before leaving. The square shaped envelope was white, the little designs on it, gold. Into her bag she dropped it and walked out of the place.A sad feeling sat at the center of her heart as she wished nature would have been nice enough to not have made them meet in the way and time they had met. She was saddened by the fact that things had to go the way they did and she could not be friends with her husband's best friend. It was disheartening. Sadly, the hands of time could not be turned and past actions could not be rewritten or changed. A concise moment of thoughts and she finalized that all the blame was to be accorded to them, the sometimes despicable humans and not nature because undeniably so, humans have will in the palm of their hands. Decisions and actions; rights and wrongs; good and evil; all rest in the palm of our hands so why constantly blame nature… or fate for some of the predic

Rowan forced Page out of bed on Tuesday morning and stayed in the bathroom as she took her bath to make sure she didn't go back to bed when he left the room. She had pleaded with him to let her stay at home but he didn't think it was a good idea. He reckoned that they had had three days of rest for themselves and it was time to get back to work.“You’re a CEO Page," he had said to her as he rolled off their duvet from her body for the third time. He had driven her to work after they had had breakfast and on the way, revealed to her that their head chef was his nanny he had told her about. She cared so much for him that she opted to be his head chef instead of leaving him when he was grown to the point that he could take care of himself. Page was shocked at his revelation. She had hit him and scolded him for not letting her in on that kind of information early enough for her to reverence her as she ought to. Making a mental note to thank her for all that she did for Rowan, she retreat

“Wear the blue dress, it would suit the cool atmosphere better,” Rowan replied to Page's question, buttoning up his blue shirt before putting on his white, pristine loose-fitting trouser.“Okay baby," Page said as she put down the other dress she had in her hand on the bed.She decided to do her light makeup before putting on her dress: pigmented nude eyes with smokey creases and ombre, glossy lips. With ease, she rocked the dress Rowan had picked out between the two she had held out for him to see. They had gone up to the master bedroom to take their bath after Page had released him from their tight hug, him carrying her in his arms till he was in front of the room. They had showered differently, Page going in first before him. He had proposed they go on an outing and had told Page to make a decision on the places she wanted to go. As she hadn't made her choice yet, she said nothing about it, thinking hard of the places she wanted to explore together with her husband. “So… where hav

“My God!” Rowan screamed then released a breath as he jiggled her breasts in his hands and bit her nipples not too hard through her t-shirt. “And you are… you're my Queen. You're my soulmate, my soul's captor and I have to confess that you have rendered me completely powerless around you,” he said softly like he was confessing something which he wanted no one else to hear.Groaning, he took his hands off her breasts and brought his face out of the soace between her breasts. His senses were slowly slipping out from him.“I want to take your tee off Cupcake," he said, snaking his hands underneath her t-shirt and twisting her nipples in the most teasing way ever.Page moaned softly. Music to his ears they were.“Do whatever you want baby," Page uttered, squirming at how good his hands felt on the most sensitive parts of her breasts.“I love it when you call me baby, it sounds so sexy coming from you. Sex this morning would drain you as you know you had nothing tangible to eat last night. That aside, we just made up,” Rowan reasoned as he held her face so that she would focus on what he was saying and not try to reclaim his lips.“I am not complaining about that Rowan. It was ten in the morning and the feeling of waking up had never been more satisfying. Rowan smiled with a refreshing thrill as he opened his eyes, his dreams were finally coming to play. Waking up to watch Page sleep was his first blessing of the morning. His left hand was outstretched across the pillow and had her head on it. He had his other hand over her waist, holding her as close to himself as he could. The memories of the previous night swam into his mind as he moved back a bit to watch Page while his head remained on the pillow. He had thought of giving her her space for the night which led to him walking to his bed after putting on the t-shirt and casual loose fitting trousers he had picked out. Instead of climbing onto the bed as Page had anticipated he would, he had picked up a pillow and walked to his couch. This left Page with a puzzled look invading her features. What does he think he's doing? She had asked herself as she watched him lay on the couch, leaving her to slee
