Chapter 13; promise kept

"A rat!" she exclaimed with utmost incredulity.

"I was screaming because of a rat?" Page scoffed.

"Why did you scream in the first place?" He asked loudly in disbelief, trying to keep his anger and panic in check.

"I am sorry, I thought it was a freaking snake when I mistook the sound for a hiss," she answered him with the intention of clearing the air.

"Confirmation of your assumption is paramount in cases like this," he screamed at her.

"I ran out of the bathroom because of the alarm you raised, he stated.

"Imagine I slipped and fell, what would you have said or done?" He continued in a harsh tone.

"I am very sorry Rowan. I admit that it was only out of impulse and it could have been hazardous if you had sustained any injury but do you have to sound so mean or vituperate me? It is what I thought I heard but unfortunately, I was wrong. Why are you yelling?"

"Did you just ask me why I am yelling?" He asked loudly with his index finger pointing to himself.
