OLIVIA.The sound of my alarm clock jolted me back to reality. I groaned and open my eyes slowly to adjust the rays of sun passing through them. I looked around my room to take in everything beside me and familiarise myself with my environment. That was when it hit me that the sun had risen up already. I glanced at my alarm clock and I am surprised to find out that it's already past eight in the morning.Springing out of bed I grabbed my phone on my desk and turned it on to look at the screen. I am left in utter shock when I saw fifteen missed calls from Davion displayed there. How did I manage to sleep so late and why didn't I wake early despite the numerous sound from the alarm. Geez, today is going far worse than I imagined it.I quickly dashed into the bathroom to have my bath. When I was done I toweled my body dry and proceeded to apply lotion on my skin. All the while my eyes fixed on the clock hung on my bedroom wall. If I get any later than this then I am completely screwed.
OLIVIA.I looked at the picture closely, wondering why and how davian had a picture of me and why there was a little boy beside me in the picture as well. The only person who had this picture was my mum and that was a couple of years ago back when we were in Fredo. And if I could remember correctly mum has been hospitalized for a very long time and our house has been sealed up by the police so she couldn't have gotten this picture even if she wanted to so how and why was this picture here? What was I missing in all of this?I looked at the boy closely in the picture. His lips were on my cheeks while my eyes were closed in a happy laughter. The more I looked at him the more I started to put two and two together. The boy in the picture had curly hair and he was wearing a sleeveless shirt and shorts. I was clad in a floral gown and we're both seated at the edge of the flower bed in a garden.I recognise this garden to be farmer Jackson's garden. Who was Ricky's father at that time. They
OLIVIA.From where I stood I could see him internally battling himself. I could tell that he had a lot to say but didn't know how to begin or how to say them to me. He looked like he had been caught doing the unthinkable. With each step he took around his room I could see his forehead crease in worry as he tried his possible best to tell me what I wanted to know. But the more he kept quiet the most suspicious I was becoming. What have I been missing out all these times that we were together? Why wasn't I able to put the pieces together? Was there even a piece to put together or is there more to what he's hiding that means the eye?"Are you going to say something or are you just going to stand there and fight your demons as though I am not standing in front of you?" I asked but he only sighed deeply. If he keeps this up then there is no telling what I might do in front of him right now."I've always wondered why you kept on sticking around. I've always wondered why you kept on helping
OLIVIA.I ran my fingers over the picture. I still couldn't believe it. My mind played back to when we were little and how we always run around the farm and open fields even when dad had asked me countless times not to be caught in the farm or playing in the mud but still I defied his wishes every time and always make sure to have a blast when I was with Ricky. He was my best friend and everything flowed naturally when I was with him. We were only kids but deep down I knew that it went beyond that for me. I have always liked Ricky that was the reason why I couldn't stay away even when dad had forced me to.Ricky was not only my best friend but he was my confidant my safe space and the only one who understood my plight and didn't judge me. He was the only one who made friendship look so easy and that was the reason why we clicked so suddenly. And to think that we became friends because he had caught me wandering into his mother's flowers bed. I still remember it as though it were yest
OLIVIA.I could see the surprised look on Davion's face when I had hugged him. He was shocked to see that I was not angry and that I was very calm despite everything that he had just told me. But how could I be though. I was finally reunited with my best friend of my childhood so how on earth does he expect me to get angry at that fact?If anything, I was very happy. I couldn't process the happiness that coursed through me at the moment. Every fibre of my being and every nerve ending in my entire body had woken up to this news of Davion being alive and standing in front of me right now. I never thought that I missed him this much until he said it himself that he was my Ricky. I felt so happy to see that it was indeed him.I pulled away from the hug and brought my face to meet his. He looked like he could pass at any moment because he didn't understand the expression I had on my face. I could tell that he was somewhat scared and that he couldn't process my actions properly but I didn'
OLIVIA.I arrived at my office full of smiles and continue the rest of my work that I had left behind. During lunch, I couldn't help but count the hours that were left before closure of work. I couldn't wait for me to go home and start getting prepped for dinner with Davion. This dinner isn't going to be like anything that we have ever had before. It's going to be more special and more fulfilling for the both of us. We we are going to catch up and I couldn't wait for it to happen. I feel like time should just get on with it already because I was already feeling impatient."And here's my bitch smiling like she just won a trophy and a trip to a vacation in Vegas" Mike said in his usual condescending tone as he approached my table with his lunch. He placed his tray on the table and proceeded to take a seat opposite mine. "So why is my baby all happy today? Did something happen that I should know about?""Why do you always want me to spill the tea.""Because, you came in to work today lo
OLIVIA.I finished having lunch with Mike at the cafeteria and made my way back to my office after a little chitchat. Mike was of the opinion that I took things slow and that I shouldn't rush anything for the time being. He even told me to take my time and process everything first before getting into any commitment with Davion. I promised to heed to his advice and make sure that my head is leveled and my emotions aren't all over the place.I arrived at my office full of smiles and started with the other tasks I had at hand, while counting for the hours to roll by immediately. Finally, it was time for me to knock off from work. I happily packed my things into my bag and rearranged my desk for the third time that evening before heading out to Davion's office. I arrived and knocked on the door. He ushered me in when he realized that I was the one at the door. I got into his office to find out that he was on an online meeting with some partners and investors in other countries. He took a
OLIVIA.I kissed Davion back with so much intensity and frivolity that I was quite shocked at myself. I had no idea that I was capable of doing such. When we pulled away, we joined our heads together as we both tried to catch our breath."How I've missed doing that." He confessed and I couldn't help but laugh. The way he said it sounded a lot funnier than I imagined it coming out of his mouth."Can we....can we please have breakfast now?" I asked and he nodded yes before taking an empty seat. I sat down next to him and dished out for the two of us making sure to stuff his plates so that he ate to his full."Why didn't you let Ezra join us for dinner? I cooked enough for all of us." I asked causing his nose to crinkle up in displeasure."The last time I checked, you asked me out for dinner which is supposed to be a date between the two of us and no third party or third wheel is alloy so why on earth are you insisting that I should have invited Ezra to join us?" He asked, staring inten
