Alessia's Pov

“It’s not your fault,” she said softly, stroking my hair. “You’ve always been my priority, Alessia. I’d do it all again if it meant giving you a better life.”

For a moment, the room was silent except for my quiet sobs. Then my mom pulled back slightly, her tear-streaked face softening as her gaze shifted to Luca again.

“And this one,” she said, her voice lighter now. “He looks like he’d do anything to protect you.”

I sniffled, wiping at my face as I followed her gaze. Luca stood silently by the window, his arms crossed and his jaw tight. Despite his usual composure, there was a flicker of something raw in his eyes—something protective and fierce.

“He does,” I admitted, my voice barely above a whisper.

Luca stepped forward then, his voice calm but firm. “Mrs. Morreti, I need to ask you something important. Has anyone from the Claudia empire contacted you recently? Anyone suspicious hanging around the hospital?”

She frowned, shaking her head. “No, nothing like that. Why?”

Alessia's Pov "Will you marry me?" Luca’s voice was steady yet tender, resonating through the elegant restaurant like a melody meant only for me.Gasps rippled around us as every head turned our way. I was too stunned to notice the scattered clapping and murmurs building in the room. All I could see was Luca kneeling before me, a small velvet box open in his hands, revealing a stunning diamond ring that sparkled under the soft chandeliers.“Alessia,” he continued, his blue eyes locking with mine. “I know we didn’t start this journey the way most people do, but I want you to know something. You’ve changed me in ways I never expected. Your strength, your selflessness, and your unwavering love for your family… it’s made me want to be a better man. And I want to spend every day proving that to you.”Tears blurred my vision, my hands trembling as I covered my mouth. He sounded so sincere, his words weaving a spell around my heart.“Say yes,” he said softly, a hint of vulnerability breakin

Alessia's Pov The car ride home was quiet, almost too quiet, with the occasional glance from Luca as his hands gripped the steering wheel. My thoughts were a whirlwind. The public proposal had been a spectacle, and though I’d agreed to it, the reality of being engaged to Luca Romano—a man whose world was a dangerous mystery—was finally sinking in.When we arrived at his sprawling home, the grandeur of it once again hit me. It wasn’t the kind of place you simply lived in—it was the kind of place you either ruled or got lost in. Luca parked the car, stepping out with his usual calm demeanor.“You can go to your room,” he said curtly, already walking toward the side of the house where his office likely was.I stood there for a second, clutching my bag. I didn’t know what compelled me, but the words tumbled out of my mouth before I could stop them. “When do we get to share a room?”Luca froze mid-step. His shoulders stiffened, and he turned back slowly, his piercing gaze locking onto min

Luca's pov The study was cloaked in shadows, the soft glow of my desk lamp barely illuminating the stack of documents before me. I swirled the whiskey in my glass but didn’t drink it. My mind was elsewhere, plotting moves and counter-moves. Alessia's unexpected question earlier had stirred something in me—an emotion I couldn’t afford right now. The engagement had been a strategic decision, yet I couldn’t deny the complication she had become in my life.A knock at the door interrupted my thoughts. “Come in,” I called, expecting Alessia.Instead, Rico stepped in, his usual composed demeanor tinged with unease. He closed the door behind him and leaned casually against it, but the tension in his stance was evident.“I heard the news,” he began, his voice calm but probing. “Matteo Greco is getting married.”I smirked, leaning back in my chair. “Word travels fast.”“It’s my job to stay informed,” he replied, crossing his arms. “But I have to ask—was this a smart move? Luca's pov As I stepped out of the Claudia Mansion, the cool night air hit my face, a stark contrast to the suffocating tension inside. The garden lights illuminated the path, casting long shadows that seemed to follow me like ghosts. My mind churned with the name that had been thrown at me moments ago—Gerald Arnold. The familiarity of it tugged at something deep, something buried, but I couldn’t place it. Not yet.Pulling out my phone, I dialed Rico. He answered on the second ring."Boss," he greeted, his voice alert, as if he’d been waiting for my call."I need everything you can find on a man named Gerald Arnold," I said, my tone clipped. "Every detail. His business dealings, his connections, his weaknesses. Leave no stone unturned."Rico was silent for a moment, then asked, "Gerald Arnold? Why him?""He’s the one holding 3% of the Claudia empire," I explained, keeping my voice low even though I was alone. "He’s been labeled a leak. If I’m going to play their game, I need to know

Luca's pov The thought wouldn’t leave me alone as I sat in my study. Rico had always been straightforward when he needed to speak to me, either calling or showing up unannounced. Why had he sent the staff to me with his message this time? It was out of character, and the longer I thought about it, the more it gnawed at me.I picked up my phone and called him. The line rang, then went dead. Frowning, I tried again. Still no answer. My unease deepened, twisting into something more urgent. Rico wasn’t careless—not with his phone, not with anything. The clock read 11:47 p.m., but sleep wasn’t an option. I grabbed my jacket, slid into my shoes, and headed for the car. I needed to see Rico, to make sure he was okay. The streets were quiet, shadows stretching long under the dim streetlights as I drove to his apartment. The city, usually alive with noise, felt eerily subdued, as though it sensed my unease. When I arrived at Rico’s place, the sight of the dark windows sent a chill down my spi

  • A love forged in Darkness and Desire    Dead End

Luca's pov The bar was alive with chaos—a symphony of drunken laughter, the rhythmic pounding of bass-heavy music, and the clink of glasses being slammed on tabletops. I slipped through the crowd with purpose, my eyes scanning the dimly lit room for the man who had made the mistake of threatening me. Gerald Arnold. A name that now tasted bitter on my tongue. He was a man in his late fifties but carried himself with the energy of someone far younger. His tailored suit did little to hide the predatory glint in his eyes as he casually sipped from a glass of whiskey at the far end of the room. I made my way toward him, weaving through clusters of rowdy patrons. But as I approached, he slid through the crowd like a phantom. I followed, my instincts sharp, my every step calculated. He wasn’t guarded—no men hovering near him, no shadows watching my movements. It seemed almost too easy. He slipped out a side door, and I followed, emerging into a narrow alley dimly lit by a flickering

Luca's pov The basement went eerily quiet as the five men hesitated, their hands trembling as they raised their phones to their ears. I watched them closely, my expression neutral but my mind razor-sharp, calculating every reaction. One by one, their faces drained of color as voices on the other end delivered news that left them visibly shaken. Thomas staggered back, his phone slipping from his fingers and clattering to the floor. Samuel’s breathing grew rapid, his lips parting as though to protest but no words came out.“Something wrong?” I asked, my voice calm, almost amused.Thomas was the first to break, his voice cracking. “How… how did you know?”I chuckled softly, the sound echoing in the damp basement. “Know what, Thomas? That your new wife is currently enjoying a very comfortable stay with my associates? That her safety depends entirely on your next move?”His knees buckled, and he gripped a nearby chair for support. I shifted my gaze to the others, continuing without mercy.

Alessia's Pov I woke up to the soft sunlight streaming through the curtains and the sharp sting of my alarm. The persistent notification on my phone reminded me of the dinner I had agreed to with Madam Claudia. It was supposed to be just the two of us, but even the thought of being alone with her made my stomach churn.Sighing, I got out of bed, ran a hand through my messy hair, and headed to Luca's study. If anyone could help me mentally prepare for this, it was him. When I reached the study, though, I froze at the sound of voices inside."I don’t trust this," Rico’s voice said, low and urgent."We don’t have a choice," Luca replied, his tone clipped. "If we don’t act now, it’ll be too late."Curiosity flared in me, but I knew better than to eavesdrop. Whatever they were planning seemed serious, and I didn’t want to intrude. I hesitated for a moment before turning away, leaving them to their discussion.I went back to my room, trying to shake off the unease creeping over me. After a

Andrea's Pov The flashbang’s blinding light faded slowly, leaving the room steeped in disorienting darkness and a heavy silence that draped over us like a shroud. I could barely see anything, but I could feel the adrenaline surging in my veins and the pounding in my head from the attack. For several long seconds, the only sound was my own ragged breathing and the echo of the shattered window where our masked attacker had escaped. When my vision cleared enough, I saw Sophia crouched near the desk, her gun still raised but trembling; I could feel my arm throbbing from the deep wound, blood seeping through my sleeves. The room reeked of smoke, sweat, and fear.“Are you alright?” I asked, my voice low and urgent as I stepped toward Sophia. She nodded, swallowing hard, her eyes wide and alert.“This was no random attack,” she murmured, her tone edged with grim determination. “They knew exactly what they were doing.”I scanned the room, feeling the eerie emptiness in the corners. Andrea's Pov I stormed out of Alessia’s room, my heart pounding with frustration and something heavier—guilt. She had every right to be angry, every right to feel betrayed. But damn it, I had never lied to her, not truly. Keeping a secret wasn’t the same as deception. Or maybe, just maybe, I was only fooling myself.I raked a hand through my hair as I made my way down the dimly lit hallway toward my room. My mind was a tangled mess of thoughts, but something else nagged at the edges of my senses. A strange, creeping unease slithered into my gut. It felt like a storm rolling in—silent, inevitable, charged with something unseen. As I reached my door, I hesitated. The air was off. It smelled different—thicker, colder. There was a faint metallic scent lingering in the air, like rust… or blood. My body tensed instinctively. I pressed my hand against the door, feeling its surface. Cool. Too cool.Slowly, I turned the knob and stepped inside. The first thing I noticed was the silence—t

Alessia's Pov The moment I stepped into my room, I slammed the door shut behind me, leaning against it as I struggled to breathe. My chest felt tight, my mind spinning.Sophia.Sophia was Madam Claudia. How? How?I let out a harsh, shaky breath, pacing the length of my room. My fists clenched at my sides as I tried to piece together the impossible truth. It didn’t make sense. It didn’t align with anything I knew about her.Sophia—my Sophia—had been poor. She had come to me desperate for a job, practically begging at Marcello’s bar. She had been struggling, scraping by. And now I was supposed to believe she was the woman who had been pulling all the strings from behind a mask? The woman who had orchestrated everything, controlled everyone?I let out a bitter laugh, but it was hollow.I wanted to believe that I was mistaken, that I was seeing things. Maybe I was still drunk, still disoriented from everything that had happened. Maybe the chaos in the hall had clouded my judgment.

Alessia's Pov The air in the grand hall was thick with tension, the hushed whispers of the guests rippling like an incoming storm. Elena’s dramatic outburst had already shaken the foundation of the event, but just as I thought things might settle, another disturbance was brewing. From the center of the crowd, a man—tall, with streaks of silver in his hair and a sharp, authoritative gaze—stood abruptly. His voice carried through the hall, commanding immediate attention."This farce has gone on long enough!" he declared, his tone laced with anger and conviction. "Madam Claudia is no longer fit to lead. This entire operation has turned into chaos under her rule!"Murmurs of agreement spread like wildfire. The guests, who had been silently processing the recent turn of events, now had something to latch onto—something tangible. The man took a few steps forward, his confidence unwavering. My mouth was dry, and my limbs felt weak, but something felt… off.I blinked a few times, my vision adjusting to the dim light filtering through the curtains. My mind was slow to catch up, memories scattered like puzzle pieces waiting to be put back together. And then it hit me.Luca.The bar. The drunken rambling. Vomiting on him. Suddenly, I feel his mouth open wide, sucking as much of my breast into his mouth as he can. My hips start to buck, pushing up against his, and I feel his hand move down between my legs.Oh my god, it hadn’t occurred to me he’d do this. I’d only imagined simple things, kissing and touching, in the very brief fantasy that had entered my brain as I walked away from the bar. Logically, of course, this shouldn’t be a surprise, but somehow it is, and now the idea that his hand is going to be on my pussy is overwhelming. Hands, and what else? Tongue? Mouth? His dick? The very notion has my lower body aching, and I can feel myself squirming, moving, pushing my hips up to meet his hand.he lifts his head from my breast then, his lips wet and pink, and he watches my face as his hand presses between my legs.“You like it, don’t

Alessia's Pov The bartender gave me a look—one of those patient, knowing looks that bartenders are probably trained to give. He didn’t say anything, just poured me another drink.I exhaled sharply. “But this isn’t about Luca. No, no, no, it’s about this island and how nothing makes sense. Do you know how many people have died since I got here?” I squinted, trying to count, but the numbers blurred in my head. “It’s a lot. And it’s all connected. Madam Claudia, the missing boats, the whispers in the dark—” I paused, leaning in dramatically. “And now people are leaving threats under doors. Under doors! Can you believe that?”The bartender’s lips twitched like he was trying not to smile. “Not funny,” I grumbled. He nodded, as if agreeing, though I doubted he was even fully listening. I sighed, rubbing my temple. “Andrea’s hiding something, too. “That made me pause.Andrea.I shook my head, downing the rest of my drink. “He acts like he’s protecting me, and maybe he is, but he knows s
