Chapter 11

Wait a minute how did he know about my music? “Of course, sir I’m sure I can arrange something for tonight.”

“That’s my daughter for you Stuart she lives for her music, she couldn’t put a guitar down since the age of three." He walks out of his office and stands by his boss oh, great trust my dad to embarrass me now.

“Is there a particular song you would like to hear Mr. Lockwood?”

Dad's boss thinks for a quick second “Could you play ‘Stand by Me’ by Ben E. King that’s my wife and I’s wedding song.”

“Certainly, sir that was the first song I ever learned how to play it would be an honor.”

“Let’s keep it between us three for now I would love to surprise my wife with it,” Dad comes and stands next to me and squeezes me into his side.

“Yes, sir not a word until tonight.”

Dad shakes his boss’ hand “Until tonight, Maxwell.”

“Yes, we’re looking forward to it” and then Mr. Lockwood left our house.

Sitting down and talking to my dad at the kitchen counter for half an hour about how school went and how the unpacking is going. I tell him about Jen and Selena as well about the football game next Friday and I tell Dad my start date for work. He tells me he’s hired a live-in housekeeper and that she’s going to live with us on the top floor of the house, so she has her privacy.

Why he’s hired a housekeeper I don’t know but I expect he has his reasons. I excuse myself from the kitchen counter so I can make a start on my homework and get a quick practice in for Mr. Lockwood before tonight.

It didn’t take me long to get all my homework done. But a pair of green eyes keeps coming to the front of my mind. I see some of my clothes have already been unpacked for me and luckily enough it’s the clothes from my closet that have been unpacked.

I walk over to my closet and open it to see all I need hanging up in the way I like it. Color coordinated, by season and by length, yeah, I know I’m a bit of a neat freak but hey it saves me twenty minutes of dress time. If my closet is like this, then I know that my dad has been in here and unpacked it for me. I must thank him for doing this for me later.

Browsing through my closet for the perfect outfit to wear for tonight. Without realizing what I’m doing I pick out an olive-green dress. I hang it up in the bathroom so I can get dressed after a quick shower. I check the time quickly and see that I have time for a quick practice.

After my quick practice on my guitar to surprise Mrs. Lockwood with tonight I pack it away in its case for when I next play. Checking the time on my phone and seeing it’s time I started to get ready.

Now I’m showered with a towel wrapped around my body and my hair, I do my hair and makeup. I first start by towel drying my hair and rubbing heat protection in my hair. I style my hair in loose tendrils draped around my face with a crystal butterfly clip pinning my fringe back. My makeup I keep simple with a light blusher stroking my cheeks and a dark green eye shadow coating my lids giving me a smokey eye look, mascara and to finish the look I coat my lips in a nude lip gloss.

Once my hair and makeup were complete, I finished getting ready. Putting on a white lace bra and matching panties I step into my dress. A lace high neck, laced shouldered, mid-thigh olive green dress with the length going to the length of my knees. I finish my outfit with a pair of black sued ruffle-strapped heels and a black clutch.

I check how I look in my full-length mirror and I must say I look surprisingly good. I’m only missing a couple of things and then I will be ready. I go to my dresser picking a nice simple necklace and a dress ring with a green fluorite center stone and three peridot stones on either side, and finally a spritz of my favorite perfume Ghost Deep Night. I’m now ready grabbing my phone and lip gloss I stuff them into my clutch as I walk out of my room.

Walking down the stairs in search of my father I hear his voice coming from his office, so I head in that direction. I stand in the doorway watching Dad do his business on the phone. “Gerard I’m looking and the numbers and something is not right I’m sending the report back now could you please have it corrected before the deadline next week? Thank you talk to you soon, bye.”

“Always busy working I see Dad,” He looks up from his desk and looks at me in awe.

“Oh, my baby girl you look so beautiful you will blow them away.”

“Thanks, Dad you look very dashing yourself” I look at my dad in a crisp white shirt and a blue striped tie.

“Hey Dad!” he stands from behind his desk putting his jacket on.

“Yeah, baby girl!”

“Is that the tie mom bought you on your anniversary?” he looks at the tie as he approaches me.

“Would you look at that why yes, it is” When he’s standing next to me, he offers me his arm “Well Savannah, shall we?” I nod and take his arm.

“Thank you, Dad, for everything” He smiles at me as we leave the house to the awaiting car that will drive us to the Lockwood’s house.
