SOPHIE'S POV Seeing King Magnus again warmed my heart a great time and the thought that the whole thing was over made me over the moon. I had always imagined a scenario where I would never see him again, a scenario in which my belief of him still being alive was a total lie but when I got to the throne room and saw him standing there, it felt like a dream to me. I pinched myself several times to make sure I wasn't dreaming and when he announced a duel with Luke, I couldn't be happier even though I was scared for him too. Well... Everyone was scared as they knew how dirty and devious Luke could be. While King Magnus was purely strong, Luke could always do evil things that would make him win. "It's over... It's all over now." I couldn't help but mutter with tears in my eyes. My happiness knew no bounds, I was so happy that my heart wouldn't stop racing and what I wanted the most at the moment was to leave the crowd, go to a room and make up the times we had missed together. I was r
MAGNUS' POV I groaned loudly as I touched my forehead, it was aching so bad that I found it hard to open my eyes. It felt like I had been out of it for a very long time and getting back to things was a bit difficult for me. I removed my hand from my head with my eyes still closed, trying to calm my mind so I would be able to open my eyes. It was hard at first but soon, my eyes opened only to be closed back again due to the sudden exposure to light that seemed like it was going to remove my eyes from its socket. I groaned again, wondering what had happened to me until I heard the door open and someone rushed in "King Magnus!" The person shouted. My senses were dull as it was hard to figure out who it was but the voice was so familiar that I dared not mistake it for someone else's. It was Sophie. "Sophie?" I called out loud, still unable to open my eyes. I felt her hands on my chest as she finally got to me "You're awake. I'm so glad." She mumbled. She seemed very close to me so m
MAGNUS' POV The celebration continued as everyone had their fill, laughed and had fun. Sophie sat down beside me, staring and smiling at me now and then. She seemingly wasn't enjoying the celebration like everyone else and it was obvious she wanted to leave as fast as possible but was only waiting for me. I wanted to leave too, it had been a while since I last saw her so being with other people paled in comparison to how much I wanted to be with her. However, it would be rude to leave the Alphas who came from different places to celebrate with me and pledge their alliances. "Lord Magnus, will you drink with me?" Jax asked, coming toward me with a bottle of wine and a cup in hand. I nodded my head "Yes. Bring that here." I said cheerfully. I wasn't happy with him but I had to keep my font clean. He walked over and placed a cup in front of me as he was about to pour the drink. I looked at the cup carefully, images of how that lady drugged me back then played in my head and I frowne
SOPHIE'S POV I watched him leave abruptly from the meeting and I was bothered. "Everyone, I think it's time to leave. I will go and calm the king down and he will call on you all later." I told them before leaving the gathering too. I went straight to his room and I saw him lying in his bed. "King Magnus," I called. He rolled around in his bed and turned to look at me "What was that? Why were you siding with him when he did that to you?" He asked, his voice was calm as he sat up in his bed and looked at me. I walked closer to him and sat down beside him. "I wasn't defending him. I was just worried that you would make a mistake because of your anger. Luke already dealt with him and he is missing an arm already. Cutting off his pack would only endanger the lives of innocent people and I'm sure you don't want that either." I said to him and he was quiet for a while. "I understand. I was very angry back there when I learnt about what he did to you. I wanted to deal with him and the e
MAGNUS' POV Everything was becoming dimmer in my head, I was unable to process the things that were happening to me but one thing was clear and that was the fact that I was among enemies. All of them hated me, they all wanted to kill me and were only being nice because I was so quiet these days. After what Luke did to me, many others wanted to try the same thing and in the end, they might succeed just as Luke had done back then. I couldn't let my wolf take over again, it would have killed so many people then if it hadn't stopped and I hated to kill my people. The ones that needed to die were the enemies surrounding me and pretending to be sincere when they weren't. I paced around the room, thinking of how to escape the wrath of the enemies. I was weaker than I once was, the wolfsbane was still taking effect on me, making me weaker every day. Before I started my revenge, the first person I needed to kill was Luke and I would make sure to do that, then I would find the lady who betr
SOPHIE'S POV I was in the room, thinking about how to help King Magnus. I had called a lot of people for advice none of their suggestions worked for me. It was far too dangerous and I didn't want any harm toward my man. I breathed out loudly and lowered my head, it was frustrating and I hated the situation. This was the same man I had waited for when Luke was ruling, I had hoped he would return one day and make me happy again but to my deepest regret, I had forgotten that he might have gone through a lot and things were difficult for him too. If only I was a little wiser, I could have stopped him when he decided to call for a meeting immediately after his recovery and I could have taken care of more things before he woke up so his mind would be relaxed by the time he opened his eyes. Things wouldn't have been so difficult for him and he could have been happy now, filled with a lot of enjoyment at the moment instead of what he was going through. I felt bad toward him and I felt bad
SOPHIE POVThe next day, I found myself thinking back to what the Queen had done the previous day and how she had stood her ground against the whole council. I wasn't sure I could do that and succeed. I would be eaten alive by all of them. Whatever she had done or not done, there was no denying her influence among them.So it was that I found myself heading to her room when I was done freshening up for the day. There were more guards around her room than other places. Magnus must have given them orders to watch her closely. He had still not trusted her fully. I hesitated then knocked gently on her door. There was no reply and I knocked again. Perhaps my first attempt had been too feeble."Who is it," I heard her ask from inside."It's Luna Sophie," I answered back. There was a long pause before she replied."Come in," She said at last. She sounded surprised which I knew she would. On normal occasions, we couldn't stand each other's company. SOPHIE POVI looked up with a sigh at the old decrepit building before knocking the door and I went in buoyed by a prompt from inside. I was nervous as it had taken me a long time to trace this location and now that I was here, it felt unreal. I was finally going to find out the truth. I was ushered into what I presumed to be a matron's office by a nun wearing a long gray habit. "The matron will be with you shortly. I hope you find what you came here for" She said with a wave before stepping out leaving me alone with my thoughts and the tired creaking fan above.I was trying hard to forget Magnus. There was a joint burial the previous week for them both. It wasn't still clear how they died. My guess was that they had been poisoned in their cells. Our enemies were also within the castle. Magnus' mother was right though, Kal Fang was no threat to us again, my guess was that he had been placated with Magnus' death. He might be the one behind it.With the death of the Alpha king and his

MAGNUS' POV Luke flew to a distance and only stopped when he crashed into a building. He was there for a few minutes and I was already thinking he had given up only to see him running toward the battleground again. He stood a few feet away from me and wiped the corner of his mouth that was already filled with blood and I could see a part of his belly, injured too. It was taking longer to heal which made me wonder what was wrong with him. "I told you, didn't I? You and I are not on the same ground, We are not on the same level. I was created to rule, ruling is what I'm made of and if I should let you hurt me here, I don't fit for that." My wolf said and in the next seconds, it appeared in front of Luke and grabbed one of his claws, breaking it. Luke growled in pain, he ran back and growled again "You are... You!" He wanted to say something but kept quiet as he could see my wolf approaching him again. The whole matter was becoming a plaything as my wolf had overpowered him complete
