AUDREY
In a hurry, I arrive at my desk the next day. My regular entry time is at eight, but I always come fifteen or twenty minutes early. However, today Mr. Anthony asked me to come in earlier, and I still didn't know why.
I just hope it's not to fire me, although if that's the case, I don't think he would bother to tell me or even call me to come in so early. Besides, it seemed urgent.
"Audrey," Maggi calls as I pass by the hallway. I needed to make some copies before returning to Mr. Anthony's office.
"Yes?" I stop for a moment. "What's up? I'm in a hurry."
"I forgot to tell you something when you arrived. You were in such a rush that I could barely catch you."
It reminds me of the new marathon I had a moment ago when I arrived.
"Yes, I'm sorry," I apologize. "I have a lot on my plate."
"You always do, but it's understandable. You're the president's secretary," she smiles kindly. "Oh, it's about Jonathan, the advertising director. He asked for someone to take care of collecting and delivering the new samples to the conference room, and he said he'd let you know."
What? Since when am I serving my ex-boyfriend? I'm not his employee; it's not my job to be running errands for him or anyone else.
Jonathan Sand is the advertising director, responsible for overseeing everything related to models, lingerie image, and all that. He's also my ex-boyfriend.
Jonathan and I were together for a while, and after we both started working at the company, we became very close as friends, and eventually, we started a romantic relationship. But it all ended when he got promoted, moving from being William Klee's assistant to becoming the head of one of the most important departments in the company.
At the time, I didn't understand why he broke up with me. It didn't affect our relationship in any way, but he said it did, and he chose his job over me. I don't blame him; maybe I would have done the same if I were in his position.
I let Maggi know that I'll pick up those folders as soon as I finish my task because I also had to deliver some documents, and they contained important figures that the boss and some partners wanted to see in the new meeting.
As I suspected, I didn't make it to the thirtieth floor, where the advertising department is located. So, I had no choice but to ask Nelly, my friend who always supports me, even at work.
The meeting will be long, as several topics will be discussed. I never get to know everything; I only obtain the necessary information to carry out my tasks. The rest are matters I don't involve myself in unless my boss asks me to.
I start arranging the folders in front of the places where each boss and partner will sit. After finishing, I leave the room and inform my boss. The men start arriving, and I go and prepare some coffees with Maggi. It's not my area, but the girl who usually prepares them didn't come today, precisely when we have more work.
After assisting Maggi with the coffees, I wait outside the room in case my boss needs anything else. The meeting lasts for an hour, and my feet hurt from standing for so long. When he gives me permission to go for lunch, I don't think twice and leave. Nelly must be waiting for me at Lord Breakfast.
I run there; it takes three blocks to reach the small restaurant, casual but very nice and comfortable.
I greet my friend with a kiss on the cheek and quickly order something that won't take too long to prepare. Although my boss gave me a two-hour break today, I can't afford to take an extra hour. With the meeting we just had a few minutes ago, my workload has increased. If I want to leave at my exact time and not take work home, I have to eat quickly and not take more time than my usual break.
When we finish, we head back to the building, without time to say goodbye to my friend. I take the elevator and go directly to my floor. It takes me some time to get there.
Maggi is not at her place when I pass by the counter. I arrive at my area and take a seat in front of my computer, turn on the screen, and start working.
I was under the impression that Mr. Anthony wasn't there; he had gone out with some partners to the golf course. That gave me time to have the new folder ready with the new figures and contacts that Mr. William handed over to my boss during the meeting.
After finishing organizing everything, I go and make a few copies at the photocopier next to the small cafeteria we have on this floor. I arrange everything in two large folders and head to my boss's office.
He had told me to leave them on his desk, and he would pick them up later.
Of course, I don't knock on the door; it's not necessary since he's not inside. So, with my free hand, I push the heavy glass door and open it.
I barely take the second step when I hear an unusual sound. Is it like a whine or a moan? He looked up to check the same instant I stopped.
"Oh, my God," I say horrified out loud.
The folders fall the moment I cover my face with both hands so as not to continue watching the indecent scene in front of me.
"I'm sorry... I'm sorry, don't look at anything," I say awkwardly, because of how quickly I did it.
Actually, I saw everything, well, almost everything. A man with dark brown hair is standing with his back to the large windows while his pants are a little below his hips, but what left me surprised was, to see the woman he has kneeling in front of him while she is apparently giving him an oral.
Oh, my God. He is certainly not my boss, he is a younger man, not that I have observed him at all, however, I could tell that it was not about Mr. Anthony.
"Is she going to stay there still standing? "vociferates in the direction of me with a hoarse voice.
I shake my head immediately, but I don't move, still with my hands on my face. What a fool I am, why am I still standing here?
Slowly I remove my hands from my face and quickly bent down to pick up the folders, my hands are shaking and I awkwardly pulled them towards me. When I get up the man already has his pants in place, but with the belt and fly still unbuttoned showing only a part of his dark underpants, the blonde woman is still in front of him and with her back in my direction, however, she is already standing.
Grateful that they will not continue with their indecent activity in front of me. It takes me just a few seconds to collect everything and recover from the impression, and in that moment I could see his face after lifting my gaze from his crotch. Fuck. I shake my head and when I'm ready I shoot out of that office. I walk over to my desk and lean on it, until I catch my breath.
What the hell was that? And why did I look like a fool watching it?
I interrupted a stranger in my boss's office while receiving an oral sex by one of the employees of this building, or maybe that someone from outside, what do I know. But who is this man and why did he look very relaxed in there? Well, it's clear that it was partly because of the blonde he had surrounding his cock with her mouth, but very much of that, he seemed very trusting, as if he knew that no one would get in the way that I did.
AUDREYi am still recovering from what my eyes witnessed earlier. To find an unknown man having oral sex in my boss's office, it was a very disturbing thing. My heart was still beating hard, my hands are sweating and shaking due to nervousness.I was stupid, I don't know why I didn't call before I came in, because I assumed no one was there. I try to stay calm, I'm not going to make him see me when he comes out and think I'm just standing there because he wanted to see. I'm not that kind of person. He straightened me up when the office door opens. Quickly he hurried me to my place and I take a seat. The girl who was with that man inside, comes out.She is tall and blonde, with a long mane that barely lets me see her face. Once he walks past my desk, he barks his head at me and smiles at me.This is Mr. William's secretary. I don't know all the staff in the building, because there are many employees who work here, but I remember her very well, because she used to flirt with my ex-boyfr
DANIEL"I don't know how Anthony put up with her and didn't fire her. I hope you do, nephew," Willy comments."I've never understood why you don't like her. Audrey is a kind and hardworking girl," Fabian reveals."For working and staying here, kindness is not enough. And yes, perhaps she works hard, but she's incompetent. The position of the presidential secretary is too much for her. That girl will never get it together."After the employee left, my uncle and cousin have been discussing her. I was surprised to find out that she would be the secretary I'll be working with.First impressions are always crucial, and she didn't make the best one; in fact, she saw nothing good. What impressed me the most was that she didn't say anything about what she saw in my father's former office, nor did she bring it up later. Maybe she's keeping it to herself for now.She doesn't seem like someone who lets others help her or stays quiet about something she doesn't like. In the short time I spent wit
AUDREY"I want to quit," I say out loud."Oh, don't be a complainer. It's just one more lap, and we're done," Nelly comments between breaths. "Come on, don't stop, we're almost there."She's got me running laps in the park. Every morning, she comes here to jog, and she made me promise to accompany her every day. However, my job hasn't allowed me time for much else other than my work at Crawford Enterprises.I admit I've neglected my activities and many other things in my personal life. But honestly, jogging is just not my thing. After completing the last lap we had to run, I head to the nearest bench and collapse, trying to catch my breath. I'm exhausted, more like dead."Finally," I say, bringing a water bottle to my lips to take a sip."If there was time, I'd drag you to the gym," Nelly says."You hate me," I protest. "Just like my new boss."Until now, I dared not to mention him, not wanting to accept that I have a new boss, and that same guy is the shameless man I found having ora
AUDREYThat's how I spent the rest of the morning, filing and organizing all the documents for the new campaign discussed in the last meeting. The day wouldn't be enough to finish all the pending work; I'll have to take something home to continue, hoping not to stay up too late. The phone on my desk rings, and I react quickly to answer it. The workload had overwhelmed me."President's office, Crawford. Audrey Turner speaking," I say automatically, like an answering machine."At what time will you bring me the documents I asked for?" My new boss's deep voice comes through the phone line. "Miss?"I hadn't realized that I remained silent for a long time. I don't know what I was expecting, but he was waiting for a response from me."Oh, yes, yes," I reply in a high but clumsy tone."Yes?" he inquires, and I can't tell if I imagined a small laugh escaping his lips without abandoning his serious tone."Yes, I already have them ready. I'll be right there," I try to control my nerves. "I'll b
DANIEL"Mother, I'm not interested in any of those women," I point to the screen of my computer, "or any others you want to match me with in the future.""But Daniel, you need to get a girlfriend and introduce her to your father, and it doesn't seem like you're doing anything about it. So let me handle it; I'll choose the right one for you."I sigh in exasperation. When will she understand?"I don't need you to look for one, and I'll find someone on my own without you being involved.""Do you already have someone in mind?" she asks, raising her eyebrows."Sort of," I partly lie because I do have someone in mind."No," she denies, "You can't choose her; you'll do it wrong.""Why not?" I exclaim, "You're not telling me to find a girl and pretend she's my girlfriend, and now you say I can't choose her. Mother, I'm not your toy.""Son, don't be angry," she gets up from her seat and approaches me, "I just want the best for you, and if you're going to settle down like your father wants, it'
AUDREYIt was past ten, and I turned off the TV, put on a sleeveless shirt and some shorts for pajamas, and slipped under the sheets of my bed. Seconds later, I considered sending a message to Nelly. The doubt about why this Daniel guy wanted information about my private life was gnawing at my head.Anyway, even if I called her, she wouldn't answer or even reply to a message. It's Friday night, and I wouldn't be surprised if she's currently at some night bar dancing with other friends.Saturday morning, finally. I'll take advantage of the day to go to my favorite bookstore and buy another book. I've already finished the last novel I bought, and all the ones on my shelf have been more leafed through and read than the Bible.I prepare a quick breakfast to leave early, and when I'm ready and about to walk out the door, I bump into my friend."Good morning!" she exclaims, entering the apartment. No, not now.I love my friend, but I also want some time alone, is that too much to ask for?S
AUDREY"Nel, you didn't have to accompany me, you've already done enough," I assert resignedly. What would I gain from complaining to her? In the end, she always gets her way, and I always have to be part of her schemes."Come on, don't complain, just smile so your sexy date sees you radiant," she tries to cheer me up, but it's futile."If you like him so much, then you go out with him," I make a face."Enough, hush," she lightly hits my arm. "Come on, go in, he must be waiting for you. At the entrance, just ask for Hill, they'll take you to the table," I sigh. "Go," she pushes me towards the door.I'm already here, I can't go back home. The double glass doors open, and I enter the luxurious restaurant.I don't know how Nelly managed to get a date with a wealthy man; he must be wealthy because this place is one of the most prestigious in the city, and it's not easy to get a reservation here.I walk and head straight to the small counter where a woman dressed in a navy blue uniform, a
AUDREYMy heartbeat quickened as our eyes met. I couldn't tell if he was upset and offended by my insult, but then again, I had no idea it was him.I didn't know how to respond to his query; I felt nervous every time he was in front of me. How was I going to continue working with him if I reacted this way whenever I looked at him?God, I'm lost.Instead of saying anything, I fled. I ran away from there and left my boss standing in the hallway; I went back to my date.Adam was still seated when I arrived; his attention was once again on his phone, but when I approached and sat down, he immediately put it in his jacket pocket and looked back at me.My mind was elsewhere, thinking about how my boss reacted or what he thought when I bolted from there a moment ago.Let him think what he wants; we're not at the office, so he can't reprimand or scold me for my behavior."Are you okay?" Adam inquired, with a puzzled expression. "You look as if you've seen a ghost.""What?" I replied."Yeah, a
