“What do you mean they will kill him?” I didn’t wait for an answer when I was already running out of my room towards his throne room. 

I tried to hold my skirt up while my steps became quicker through the dimmed stone hallway. It seemed like a long run, but I finally made it into the room.

“Look who’s here,” Nicholas said as his face looked at me confused by my appearance. He wasn’t expecting it, that’s for sure.

Mictlan looked at me with softness and love in his eyes, as if I was the most beautiful creature in the Underworld.
