Kieran's POV
"She what?!” I snarled at one of the guards when he told me Illyria had escaped. This woman was causing a lot of trouble already. I don’t know why dad insisted on keeping her here. She should have just stayed in the woods and let nature take care of her.
But I had to save her. I couldn’t leave her.
My blood boiled as I left the castle, walking towards the village to find her. As I looked around the crowded street, I noticed a red rose on the floor, squished by passersby. I picked it up and smelled it, it had her scent mixed up with the flower’s own natural one.
“Excuse me, Kieran?” I heard Molly, the town baker call. She seemed a little concerned, “if you are looking for the lady you brought, she went that way,” she said, pointing at the North side of the woods.
“Did you talk to her at all?” I asked, but she shook her head.
“No, but Lilith told her about the meaning of the roses for us. She told her that it will be painted with blood, and that must have scared her,” she said. For a moment, I felt sympathy for her. Illyria must be terrified at that thought and I needed to find her.
“Thank you, Molly. I will find her,” I said as I took off, running. I had to get there before anything or anyone found her. There were loud screams coming from the river, my blood boiled at the thought of someone hurting her.
Dodging trees and rocks, I finally arrived where the screams came from and there she was, being dragged by a heavy set man, with hunger for blood.
She was desperately trying to get loose from his grasp, but failing to do so. I had to save her. My fangs and nails elongated, while my eyes turned into murderous ones. I ran as fast as I could to get to them.
Before long, I was pouncing on that man. Despite being tall and muscular myself, he was much bigger. He let Illyria go and slowly turned to me, growling menacingly. I could see her hide behind a tree, waiting for me to be done with this jackass.
“Well, well, well. If it isn't the famous Kieran Moore. How are your parents?” he said, while I had no idea how he knew me and my parents. I snarled and didn’t even feel like engaging in conversation. I just wanted to hurt him, the way he was hurting my beloved.
Yes, Illyria Abbot is my beloved. Seeing her earlier, got my senses out of control, and even if she was aggravating and annoying, I was not going to let her get killed by this monster.
“You're not talking, huh?” he asked, while waiting for me to make my move. He thought I was that stupid.
“Kieran, please let's go,” I could hear her whisper clearly behind me, despite being a little far. I could feel her body trembling in fear.
“I am sorry, I don't talk to leeches like you,” I said, putting myself in a fighting stance, ready for whatever may come. I could hear him laugh, as his belly moved with the rhythm, mocking me.
“Your dear daddy is not here to help you now, kid. I will have so much fun breaking you into pieces,” he snarled, as he elongated his own fangs and ran towards me. I dodged the attack and he ended up hitting an oak tree.
He turned around, running again towards me, but as I was about to move, he extended his hand and pulled me down to the ground from my legs. I lifted myself, pouncing him once again, but this time he was alert.
He scratched me on my face with his nails, leaving four marks on my cheek. I wasn’t worried, they would heal soon.
“Is that all you got? Pathetic,” I laughed, making him angrier as he pushed me against a tree. He was holding me against it as my back was arching on the trunk, causing an uncomfortable stab.
“Leave him alone, you animal!” Illyria took some courage and started hitting his back with a rock. What the hell does she think she is doing? She needs to stay hidden behind the tree. The big guy dropped me on the ground, leaving me groaning in pain.
He turned around to face Illyria, walking menacingly towards her with what I was sure was a promise of pain in his eyes. She was in danger. I took my strength to get up and stop him from getting anywhere near her.
She was backed up against the tree and I took a branch, breaking it in half to reveal a sharp end, going straight for his neck. It might not do much, or at least that's what I thought, but it should be enough to get him away from her.
To my surprise, he plummeted to the ground while I looked at Illyria, walking towards her like a predator. With my bloodied hands, not sure if it was mine or his blood, I put them on Illyria's collarbone while dragging it up to her neck and ending up in her face, painting it just like the red rose in her hand, while she looked at me with panic in her eyes.
“Don't fear me, little rose. I won't hurt you, but next time you decide to run away, make sure you do it without anyone noticing. I have eyes everywhere,” I said in a low growl, that sounded even more dangerous than usual.
“You're not my father and I'm not your prisoner, Kieran. I need to go back home,” she said, trying to sound angry, but failing to do so.
“There is no home to go back to. You heard my mother, they are all dead, and I confirmed it,” I said as I leaned over, while feeling her shivering body react to mine. I could smell her fear and arousal at the same time.
“You're lying to me. How dare you?” she mentioned, her voice sounding more like a whisper. I clenched my jaw, I would take her back to my castle the way I did earlier, but she smacked my hand away.
“I can walk, I don't need you to act like a caveman right now, thank you very much,” she said, walking away from me at a slow and steady pace.
A tear fell from her eye. She tried to hide it, but I was attentive and noticed everything. We walked back, not saying another word to each other...just complete silence.
Illyria's POVWe arrived once again to the village. While we walked through the crowd, they kept looking at us and murmuring amongst each other. I hugged myself and looked at Kieran, a lot of questions running through my mind.“Why are they looking at us like that?" I asked, curiously. I felt uncomfortable and sudden goosebumps raised on my skin.“They know,” he replied with a smirk, making me look at him confused. “Know what?” “I will explain to you in the castle. For now, we have to get there and clean ourselves," he replied, picking up his pace, not giving me any choice but to follow him. We walked inside the castle and he took me by the hand to pull me towards his room. “What the hell are you doing?” I asked, thinking he will definitely do something to me this time. My heart was beating fast, but I wasn't sure if it was fear or maybe attraction for him. ‘'Shut up your stupid brain,' I said to myself. We walked into his room, it was beautiful and modern. The bed was big and tal
Illyria's POV Those words were like electricity running down my spine, and the tone of his voice as he was claiming me at that moment sent shivers through my body. I was his. It was a strange feeling, but my body and my heart were responding to him in such an erotic way, despite my mind telling me to hold back. “This is not possible. How could this happen?” I asked, still skeptical of the situation. He sat up and looked at me with his golden eyes. He was breathtaking, and every minute I spent next to him would be a minute I would have to hold myself back from giving in. “It is indeed, possible. When someone gives you a red rose, it means your soulma
Kieran's POV “We have invited Cassius for dinner, so you better be on your best behavior, Kieran,” Father said. He surely doesn't know his coven was the one that attacked Illyria's family or he wouldn't be telling me this. “You know how I feel about him, Father. I am not going to be a hypocrite about it,” I said, sipping wine this time. I was not in the mood for my usual drink. Needed something lighter. The doorbell rang and our butler went to open the door, letting Cassius and his right hand man, Draven in. “Here we go,” I murmured, earning a stare from m
Illyria's POVI hurried to my room, feeling upset and just wanted to lock myself in. Why did it hurt when he said he didn't want a woman? And who is Celeste? My heart ached. Why claim me, if he would hide it? It's just not making sense. I reached my door, trying to get in my room as quick as I could. As I was about to turn the handle, a hand grabbed my wrist. I turned around, just to see Kieran looking at me with concerned eyes.“Illyria, wait,” he said while holding my wrist tight, but not tight eno
Kieran's POV She dared punch me in the face. That irritating woman just dared touch me in an angry way and I couldn’t do much about it. Was she upset about Celeste? Or maybe the fact that I said I didn’t want another woman in my life? I ran into the woods to release this pent up anger inside. Why was she affecting me this much? Why couldn’t she understand that I wanted to protect her? If I told Cassius she was mine, being part of the royal family would put her in even more danger. Mother and Father needed to know what was the cause for her tension around him, and I would tell them soon, but for now, it was my time. I reached a clearing and took
Illyria's POV I waited patiently for him to tell me his secret. All I wanted was for him to trust me enough. His body language was telling me how hard it was for him to talk about her. Was she really that important to him, and whatever happened to her was bad enough for him to suffer like this? I scooted next to him, sat with my legs underneath me, and looked at him intently. He was hesitant, and that made me extend my hand and grab his in reassurance. Why was I caring about this brute vampire? He looked up and I could see his eyes glowing as he stared into mine. I could feel his body trembling as he squeezed my hand, showing his vulnerable side, one I
Illyria's POV “I found you, princess,” the man said in a deep voice, frightening me to no end. The room was getting even colder, my body trembling without control when I was able to finally speak. “W-who are y-you?” I asked, my teeth chattering inside my mouth. Was it the cold or fear? “My name is Eliphas, and I have come to bring you back home. You are our coven’s future ruler.” I looked at him, not understanding what he was saying. How can a human like me rule a coven? I must be dreaming, there's no way this was real. &nb
Kieran's POV Of course I had to make her mad, that is what I always do. After she kicked me out of her room, I stood by the open windows on the hallway, thinking about ways to make it up to her. She was the one I wanted, she belonged to me and I was still acting like a jerk. I was so lost in my own thoughts, that I didn’t realize the room had gotten cold until I turned around and saw the door freezing and frosty air coming from the bottom, before I heard Illyria scream my name. I slammed the door open, but the chilly air was gone. Illyria was sitting on that bed, scared. I took her in an embrace, and kept her company until she calmed down.
