ELLA'S POV

I sighed as I approached the cafeteria table where Amelia and Susan were already seated, their hushed chatter immediately audible even from several feet away.

They had their heads bent together, speaking in those excited, rapid-fire tones that could only mean one thing - they were dissecting every last detail about the Couples Dance again.

"I'm thinking we go for a bold red lip," Amelia was saying, making an exaggerated kissy face. "You know, really make a statement with the makeup."

Susan nodded enthusiastically. "Ooh yes, that would be stunning! Especially if we do my hair up in those loose, tousled waves to contrast with the harsh lip color."

I felt my eyes rolling halfway to the back of my head as I slid into the open seat across from them. Don't get me wrong, I was excited for the dance too - what girl wouldn't be at the prospect of getting all dolled up and being the center of attention for a night? But these two had been utterly obsessed recently, and it was gettin

TRENT'S POVI leaned against the library wall, trying to look all chill and casual as I waited for Ella to show up. We'd agreed to meet here for a study session before the big test. Not gonna lie, I kinda loved these little academic get-togethers with my girl. Sure, the subject matter usually went way over my head. But anytime I could kick back and admire Ella's brilliant mind in action was a total win for me. My eyes lit up as I finally spotted her familiar figure approaching through the courtyard. That gorgeous hair bouncing with every step, those long legs carrying her effortlessly. But then I noticed the two unwelcome figures flanking her - Lucinda and that dickwad boyfriend of hers, Damien. Of course those losers would try messing with my girl again. Knowing her though, she could probably put those jerks in their place all on her own just fine. Sure enough, I watched with pride as Ella held her head high, completely unfazed by whatever crap Lucinda was spewing at her. Tha

TRENT'S POV “Are you...are you still playing basketball?" Tom asked, voice rasping out the words. I couldn't help but smile at the question - of course that would be one of the first things on his mind after all this time. "Yeah, buddy. I never gave it up," I assured him softly, pulling out my phone. With a few taps, I pulled up a team photo - me front and center, basketball clutched under one arm and a wide smile on my face as I posed with my teammates. "See? I'm the captain of the school team now."Tommy's gaze drifted over the image and my chest swelled with pride as his cracked lips curved into a smile. "I'm so happy...you didn't give up on this, Trent. It's what you've always wanted.""It's what we always wanted, Tommy," I corrected gently, reaching out to take his hand in mine. I gave it a soft squeeze as our gazes locked again. "You and me, remember? We were gonna take the basketball world by storm together."Tom's eyes shone with sadness that tugged sharply at my heart. God,

ELLA'S POV "You look absolutely gorgeous, Ella!" Susan gushed, clasping her hands together as she looked me up and down in the dress. "Trent definitely has impeccable taste." Amelia nodded enthusiastically. "For real, girl. When you two hit that dance floor tonight, every eye is gonna be glued to you."I grinned and gave a twirl, the rich purple gown swirling around me in a whisper of fabric. It hugged my curves in all the right places. I felt like an absolute princess! As I spun back around to face my friends, I caught a few of the other girls in the dressing room sneaking admiring glances my way too. Some smiled and waved, clearly appreciating the look. Heck, my confidence was soaring so high right now, I might as well have been walking on air!Guess I'm going to turn a few heads at this dance after all, I thought giddily, unable to stop beaming. That's when the snide voice cut through the air like nails on a chalkboard. "As if that ridiculous getup is really anything to get so hy

ELLA'S POV I clutched the soiled dress tightly and dashed out of the dressing room. And there she was, of course - Lucinda and her gross flings. They were laughing, red plastic cups with suspicious liquid in their grasps. The sight of them so carefree and nonchalant while I was suffering just riled me up even more."How dare you!" I shouted, unable to contain myself any longer as I stormed over."How dare you, you miserable bitch!"Lucinda slowly looked me over, that infuriating smirk still plastered on her face. "If it isn't the belle of the ball herself. Or should I say former belle?"My fists clenched at my sides as I fought against the urge to launch myself at her. "You're going to pay for this Lucinda. I don't know how you did it, but you've gone too far this time.""Ooh, such tough words from our poor little damsel," Lucinda inspected her nails carelessly. "Face it, you're just a sad, mousy girl playing dress-up for a night. Did you really think you could upstage me?"Her vapid

ELLA'S POV As we made our way down the aisle, I couldn't resist sneaking glances at my incredibly handsome date. Trent looked like he'd stepped straight out of a magazine in his tailored tuxedo. I felt a tiny pang of guilt for not wearing the gown he'd lovingly picked out for me, but quickly brushed it aside. Tonight was going to be magical no matter what I had on.I held Trent's hand a little tighter, pulling him closer as I became aware of what felt like every eye in the room trailing after us. Part of me couldn't help doing an internal happy dance at all the admiring looks. The rest of me felt a tiny twinge of self-consciousness creep in.Was my dress okay? Did my hair look alright still? Maybe I should have gone with those other shoes instead…But as I caught sight of Susan and Amelia across the room mouthing"Wow!" with huge grins. I knew I had totally nailed this look.Trent guided us over to an empty table as he pulled out my chair for me among the other couples. That's when

ELLA'S POV I couldn't believe this was actually happening! Trent had quite literally swept me off my feet, cradling me securely in those strong arms of his as he carried me away from the dance. My heart felt like it was soaring - we'd won the big contest, gotten to perform an incredible routine together, and now the night was carrying us off into blissful romance.Part of me still felt in a daze, like I was floating through some wonderful dream. Trent's handsome face hovered inches from mine, green eyes shining with a warmth that made me melt. He cradled me close as he carried me out towards the parking lot.The entire car ride passed in a heated, tension-filled silence. But my body hummed from the lingering echoes of his touch. Finally, we pulled up to his place and he ushered me inside, hand splayed possessively across the my back. As soon as we made it through to his room, Trent pinned me up against the wall, caging me in with his arms on either side."Are you absolutely sure a

TRENT'S POV "Oh god!" I stilled instantly, fear gripping me that I'd hurt her. "Does it hurt?" I murmured worriedly, gazing up at her. "If it does, please...we can stop." Her eyes flew open. "No!" she gasped. "Don't you dare stop, Trent..." She pulled me down and kissed me, her tongue tangling with mine. Reassured, I began to move my finger in a sensuous rhythm, swallowing Ella's whimpers and moans of rapture. She writhed shamelessly beneath me, lost in the desire. When I added a second finger, stretching her further, she broke the kiss with a strangled cry. "You're so beautiful like this," I murmured to her as I removed my two fingers. I couldn't help but drink in the sight of her pussy. She was so utterly lovely down there, her lips swollen and pink, completely bare and glistening slightly. Her breath was coming hard and fast, and when I glanced at her face, her head was up and slightly back. I slowly trailed kisses back up her body. She was flushed and glowin

ELLA'S POV My heart was beating very fast as I went down on my knees in front of Trent. I looked at his erect penis with respect . It was thick and standing up proudly. I had never done anything like this before, but a new part of me really wanted to worship him in this intimate way.Slowly, I reached out with one hand to gently touch his rigid length. I was amazed at how smooth and hot it felt and the veins bulging along the hardness. Trent sharply breathed in when I touched him, staring at me intensely. Feeling bolder, I leaned closer to softly kiss up the underside of his shaft, from the base to the swollen tip glistening with drops of desire. His male scent surrounded me, adding an intoxicating new layer to my growing arousal."Ella..." Trent groaned my name like a prayer as I swirled my tongue into the salty wetness that had formed at the tip. The rich flavor was completely new yet not unpleasant at all. In fact, it only further fueled the smoldering hunger rapidly burning ins

"He sang so off-key, the lunch ladies thought a cat was dying in the kitchen!"We all burst into laughter, the sound echoing through the luxurious ballroom of the Grand Plaza Hotel. Crystal chandeliers sparkled overhead, casting a warm glow over our little group huddled around one of the many round tables. Large flat-screen TVs mounted on the walls played a slideshow of our high school memories.Connor's face turned beet red as he playfully shoved Liam. "Oh yeah? What about the time you accidentally set off the fire alarm trying to impress Dolly with your 'mad science skills'?"Dolly giggled, leaning into Liam's side. "I thought it was cute! Even if we did have to stand outside in the rain for an hour."I couldn't help but smile, taking a sip of my champagne. "God, we were such disasters back then. For a moment, there was silence. Then, like a dam bursting, the applause erupted. The sound washed over me that left me breathless.I straightened up, a wide smile spreading across my face as I took in the sea of faces before me. There, in the front row, sat some of the most respected names in dance. Critics, choreographers, fellow dancers - all on their feet, clapping and cheering. As I made my way off stage, I was immediately surrounded by a swarm of people. Hands reached out, voices called my name, all clamoring for a piece of my attention."Ella! Ella! Can I get your autograph?""Ms. Thompson, that performance was breathtaking!""Ella, when's your ne

I stood apart from the crowd, watching as my classmates tossed their caps into the air, their laughter and cheers filling the courtyard.I looked down at my own cap, running my fingers over the tassel. Then, with a deep breath, I flung it skyward, watching as it spun through the air before disappearing into the sea of black and gold.As I searched the crowd for my cap, a familiar voice called out behind me. "Ella! We did it!"I turned to see Susan racing towards me, her gown billowing behind her like a superhero's cape. She crashed into me, wrapping me in a bone-crushing hug that nearly knocked us both over."Can you believe it? We're officially high school graduates!" My eyes wandered across the sea of black caps, finally landing on a familiar pair of figures.Ryan and Susan sat a few rows ahead, their heads tilted towards each other in quiet conversation. A small smile tugged at my lips as I watched Ryan's hand slip into Susan's, their fingers intertwining. Thank God they finally worked things out. As if sensing my gaze, Susan turned, her eyes meeting mine. Her face lit up with a warm smile, mouthing a silent "Thank you" in my direction.I nodded back, genuinely happy for them both. But as I turned away, a familiar discomfort bloomed in my stomach. It started as a dull ache, quickly escalating into a churning sensation that made me grip the edges of my seat. ELLA'S POVThe summer sun beat down on us as we streamed out of the auditorium, a sea of black gowns and square caps. I squinted against the brightness, my hand instinctively reaching for Tom's. His fingers intertwined with mine, warm and comforting, yet not quite right.I forced a smile, trying to ignore the hollowness in my chest. "It's so awkward, right? Us being together like this."Tommy's eyes met mine. "We'll make it work, Ella. We have to."And we did, in a way. The past few months had been a whirlwind of pretending, of plastering on smiles and playing the part of the perfect couple. It was easier than facing the truth - that Trent was gone, possibly forever. The pity in people's eyes when they thought about 'poor Ella' was too much to bear. At least this way, I could pretend everything was normal.I'd thrown myself into the charade with a desperation that surprised even me. The crowd parted like the Red Sea, their excited whispers creating a noise around us.We glided across the floor, and I couldn't help but stare at Trent. He moved with such grace, showing no signs of the injuries that had kept him hospitalized. Something felt off, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it.As we stepped onto the stage, the spotlight bathed us in its warm glow. Trent's eyes sparkled with an intensity I'd never seen before. Just as we were about to begin our dance, he dropped his crutches. I gasped, instinctively reaching out to steady him.But he didn't falter. Instead, he swept me into his arms with a flourish, spinning me around as if he'd never been injured at all. The crowd erupted in cheers, but their excitement felt distant, muffled by the doubt growing in my mind.As we swayed to the music, I studied his face closely. T

ELLA'S POVI stood before the mirror, my reflection staring back at me.The dress hugged my curves perfectly, its deep purple fabric shimmering in the light of my bedroom. My fingers traced the beadwork along the bodice, memories flooding back of the day Trent had bought it at the store."You're beautiful," I whispered to my reflection, trying to summon the confidence I once had. I smoothed out a non-existent wrinkle, remembering the day Lucinda had "accidentally" spilled punch on it at the couple's dance. It had taken three trips to the dry cleaner to remove the stain completely, but I didn't care. This dress was more than just fabric and thread; it was a symbol of everything Trent and I had been through.Let them stare, I thought defiantly. Let them whisper about how I'm wearing the same dress. This isn't about them. This is for Trent. As I reached the bottom of the stairs, I caught sight of Mr. Matthews in the living room. He was pacing back and forth, his fingers drumming nervo

ELLA'S POV"Ella!" Susan's arms wrapped around me like a vice. "We've been worried sick about you!" Her voice cracked, and I felt her shoulders shake. "It's been like walking through a ghost town without you here."I hesitated for a moment before returning her embrace, burying my face in her shoulder. The warmth of human contact after so long in isolation nearly overwhelmed me.As Susan pulled back, I caught sight of Amelia hovering a few feet away. Our eyes met for a split second before she looked down, her fingers twisting the hem of her sweater. The pain across her face made my chest tighten.Susan followed my gaze, her voice dropping to a whisper. "She's been like that for days now, Ella. Ever since... well, you know." She bit her lip, clearly struggling to find the right words. "I think she blames herself for what her dad did. She won't talk about it, but I can see it eating her up inside."I took a deep breath, steeling myself. This wasn't going to be easy, but I couldn't bear t

ELLA'S POVI opened my eyes to another gray morning, the sunlight struggling to penetrate the heavy curtains I'd drawn weeks ago. The silence in my room was deafening, broken only by the occasional ping of my phone - another message I'd ignore. Everything wasn't okay. It hadn't been for weeks.Trent was still in the hospital, and I was drowning in a sea of uncertainty. The worst part? I didn't even know how he was faring. Some ridiculous ban on visits had been imposed, cutting me off from the one person I desperately needed to see.I dragged myself out of bed, my feet hitting the cold floor. My reflection in the mirror was a stranger - hollow-eyed and pale. I barely recognized myself anymore. For the umpteenth time, I found myself outside the Donovan mansion, my fists pounding against the imposing iron gates. "Please!" I screamed, my voice hoarse from overuse. "I just need to know if he's okay!"My cries echoed in the empty driveway, met only by the rustling of leaves. As always, th
