"Lauren Fonder, You are wanted, immediately at the senior doctor's office".

Lauren and Pamela heard the inter-call, and she exchanged knowing glances with Pamela, who just resumed.

"Did something happen? She asked Rhetorically. They hardly call her to the office, they usually call her head or her superior, but calling her, was scary. She brace herself and went to answer doctor Carter, who hardly smile at her, let alone, take a second look at her. But she sure admires him, for his intelligence.

Pamela also encouraged her to move without fear. Since she haven't done anything wrong.

She went to the doctor's office, thinking this was a private meeting, or a case that have to do with her, not upgrading her studies and all, because she have heard the board will be visiting soon, and when ever they visit, they relieve the practicing nurses, they will end up going to smaller hospitals, which is not really a good CV booster.

When she got there, she was shocked to find the Mendez enterprise himself present at the office with his wife.

She feared that this has something to do with what happened that night, when she had flashed the torch on his face, she wanted to apologize immediately, especially since the news about his insanity seem to find it's way out, just like the death of his wife too.

"Doctor Carter, I can explain. He was leaving the premises, and the security guards were all asleep, and not knowing whom he is at the time, I had to flash the torch to alert the securities, I didn't mean to arouse any thing in him". She explained in a hurry.

"That is not why I called you Lauren, so please, save yourself the stress and time . Have a seat". Hearing that it isn't the reason they had called her to the office, she felt a bit relaxed, and she sat down, though with caution.

"Mr Mendez here, have a preposition for you, which I think will be very beneficial to you". Lauren couldn't explain where this was going, but she seem too scared, to look up at them, but instead of them to take it from doctor Carter, they didn't, they just continued giving her the side eye, that she couldn't find a name for at the moment. And though doctor Carter had told her she didn't have to worry about a thing, she was still very worried. They are one of the wealthiest family in the entire federation, and they have the history of silencing anyone who offends them.

"Mr Mendez here and his wife, would love you to help out in helping their son heal faster. First, they want you to be his personal nurse, as he wouldn't allow anyone come close to him, and then, knowing how he already sees you as his late wife, they would want you to act the part". That last sentence resounded in her head again and again, and she finally gained the courage to look up at them. What are they thinking? Do they think life is a game? She winced her eye and got up, but was still very cautious of speaking all she bears in mind out.

"With all due respect Mr and Mrs Mendez. Mrs Sydney Mendez is dead, it will only be fair if Mr Lucious is told the truth, he will be heart broken, yes, but he will surely get over it, but if he is lied to, and he finds out later, he will be worse than he is now".

The Mendez were shocked because at first, they thought she wouldn't argue with them, but she just spoke without blinking.

She felt like she haven't finished what she needed to say yet, so she continued. "I can be his personal nurse, because it is my duty, and I have been in this section for a while, I know what it entails, but playing the part of being his wife, I am sorry, I don't think i will be able to do that". She tells them, absolutely.

"You know Lauren, Very soon, nurses like you, will no longer be needed here. We can only keep practicing nurses, that have already submitted their applications and it have been approved by the school of their choice". Doctor Carter says, reminding her of her biggest fear.

"I am working on that Doctor Carter. I have experience, I know my job, and I have never had any issues". She defends herself.

"I know you are doing your best, I also know you are good. That is one of the reasons I wouldn't want the board to kick you out, because when that happens, I won't be able to save you, and you know why? He asked, but didn't wait for her response, "because I don't have the power, but Mr Mendez here, have the power to protect you". Doctor Carter says, and then, finally, Mr Mendez spoke up for the first time, since she arrived.

"I will get you approval into Houston, as soon as you say yes to my proposal. I will pay your fees until you are through with studying, and if you have plans to further, I will take care of all the bills". Lauren opened her mouth, but no words came out. She was speechless, this is what she have always wanted. But what is stopping her? She thought, and before she could digest what she just heard, he spoke up again.

"What about Mrs fonder, in the sick home. Is that where she is supposed to be? She is supposed to be taking treatment and getting better, but she is getting worse. But if you say yes to my proposal, I will pay for her surgery, and then, within few months, she will be back to you strong and healthy. I mean, that woman gave up so much for you. Sacrificing five years of your life is the least you can do for her". She opened her eyes wide in shock.

"Five years? She exclaimed.

"Yes. Five years, only. Marry my son for five years, that should be enough time for him to get better and face reality. But in that five years, you will not only be a qualified Psychiatrist nurse, but a billionaire, with her mother by her side, enjoying great wealth". Lauren didn't have anything more to say. This is her dream, and now she is about to make her dream a reality, but marriage isn't a joke, especially a contract Marriage with a psycho. She didn't say anything, she was lost in her imagination of what her life would be like after she marries him, when she heard him speak again.

"You may not give us a response now, but you have 24hours to respond. I don't like to wait". He says, and without waiting for her to say anything, they walked out.
