I heard a small whisper as if it was only intended for my ears. After several minutes, another one followed. Then, another. The voice started to crack and suddenly became louder and louder. I covered my ears using both of my hands avoiding the noise.
Make it stop! I begged. My head was on fire, muscle clenched and sweat in anticipation. My legs, my arms, my core muscles was already twisting and compressing for fight or flight. My hair stood on end as it there were hands reaching out for me.
When I sensed that there was no longer that sound, I let a deep sighed. I was about to shut my eyes when I heard a sudden quick high thin long pitched voice. "I'm coming," a voice whispered, followed by creepy giggles.
The fast beeping of the heart monitor was enough to make me awake. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes, trying to fall asleep. But because of uneasiness, I failed.
I opened my eyes as I examined the white walls and the white curtains having the logo of the hospital. I shifted my gaze at the clock hanging on the wall. The long hand pointing quarter to twelve while the shorthand was pointing directly at twelve. I sighed.
I climbed down from my bed and looked myself in the mirror. There were dark circles around my eyes. The red veins and the bloodshot color were visible. I looked horrible. I let another deep sigh and went near the window.
The gust of the wind was the first one who welcome my existence. The croaking of the frogs and the crickets of the insects was the only thing that you could hear. I slowly opened my eyes and saw nothing out of ordinary. There were the moonlight keeping the roads lighted, the empty sidewalks and the houses that are dark without their lights.
My thoughts were focused on the thing that made me extremely uncomfortable. The silhouette of a boy standing near the dark side of the pavement. From the looks of it, his height was a bit higher than mine.
Confusion washed over me. Who would have the guts to walk in almost midnight?
Being aware was an intriguing experience that first began as a small breeze at the abse of my neck - a minute whisper and gentle, even pressure, like it was as if a child was to push against my back with all of his might.
When I was a child, my father always told me stories about the mystery of this place. Elders said that this village was punished and cursed. Lots of mysteries were roaming inside this place. Each have their own stories, their own versions but one thing was for sure, no one could ever tell anything. No one dared to solve the mystery behind of all of these.
I took a deep breath and stepped into the doorway. My heart was racing on my chest and I felt like I am going to faint. Something was not right.
I swallowed hard as I took a step. The all familiar and welcoming front porch seemed like a devastated empty hall, welcomed me. I searched for the shadow. But nothing was there. I walked towards the spot where he stood. I gaze at the left wing and then I saw his silhouette once again, walking towards the familiar path.
I gazed in every trail that we took. The tall grasses were the ones surrounding the area. The ambiance was so heavy, I could barely breath. I was about to take a step, but I stumbled and cursed when I did not saw a rock. But it seemed like the boy does not hear anything.
It was like I have punged into an ocean. There were great waves and currents, complex and intridcate, pulling me to and fro. The deeper that I dive, the less I could see and the less I could move. There was no up of down for I have lost all sense of direction. I could feel nothing but confusion.
Minutes have passed when he stopped. I froze, glued at my spot. My heart began to race even faster, sweat was welling up on my forehead, my knees could not keep my weight anymore and my foot was instantly glued on the spot. Every part of me wanted to scream and ran but I could not. The boy looked up. Slowly, I gulped and faced where he was looking.
As if on cue, my heart skipped its beat. The sign was already enough to make me shiver in place. Instinct told me that I have clearly made a mistake. That something was wrong or was going wrong. Like those toxic fumes, unseen, but undoubtedly there.
Killer Domain. Little did I know; this was the start of everything.
Zia Stephanie's POVThe sunshine hanged brightly at the horizon. Beads of sweat formed on my temple, slowly dripping because of the heat. I guess, today was one of those boring days. I looked sideways as I gently yawned. My eyes sparked when a thunder stuck on my mind. The corner of my lips turned up."A girl just jump in front of my eyes!" I screamed at the top of my lungs, grabbing the t-shirt's hem of the midnight-eyed boy beside me. I looked at him as his expression looked so dull as the color of his face drained out."Blimey! W-Where is she?" he stuttered, looking back and forth. He looked at me for a brief of moment and asked, "Have you seen her?" He furrowed his brows at me while acting like a total strange.I
Zia Stephanie's POVI began to feel anxious. My palms started to sweat, muscle tensed, and shoulders stiffened. Ready for something but I am unsure of what. It was as if I was splashed by a cold water, enough to make my system paralyzed in vain. I instantly froze on my spot. I keened my eyes at him, trying to study his features. But for a split of seconds, he vanished. I blinked. The sound of the incoming vehicles of the police and sirens of the ambulance muffled into my ears. The press was gathered outside the school area, which added to the noise lingering in the air. Was it just a coincidence? Zia Stephanie's POVI gazed towards the sun-drenched angelic beach. The sunlight was glittering on every grain of sand, the beach was idyllic, white, and fresh. I smiled the moment I saw the beautiful, big blue ocean's waves crashing against the cliffs as I watched the seagulls joyfully flew around in circles in the air. The warm, golden sand ran between my toes with the gentle breeze. As I walked along, I found gorgeous, shiny shells that have been washed into the shore by the rippling of the water. It was as if I am inside a fairytale story book.Through from the distance, I could see the waves crashing against my skin as the sun was setting. I could hear people laughing, embracing the sunset. Zia Stephanie's POVExhaustion stepped into my bones the moment I opened my eyes. The fatigue had moved to my fingers. I sat at the cold floor. I gazed my eyes towards the surroundings. The forest was far-reaching, shadowy, and prospering. Its canopy was overshadowed by sycamore, elm, and spruce, who allowed adequate light to pass down for a hodgepodge of saplings to make use of the moss-covered grounds below.Coiling branches dangled from many a tree, and a medley of flowers, which claimed quiet corners, clashed with the otherwise monotone forest grounds.
