The nightlife has never been so quiet. Everything remains the same; only I have changed.
Kai let out a long and deep sigh after gulping the entire whiskey in his glass. He was being devoured by the thoughts that were racing through his head. He can't stop thinking about it, so he pours another whiskey into his glass and sips it down to the last drop. Regardless of how many glasses he had, it appears that whiskey is just water to him, as it never caused him to become inebriated.
Hours passed until he had finished one bottle of whiskey and was about to order another when the bartender informed him that the bar would be closing soon, so he just went home. He paid for his drink and walk to the bar's parking lot, where his car was parked. He looked up at the dark night sky, which was filled with billions of stars that shone brightly in the darkness. He was gazing up at the night sky for a while when he noticed a shooting star. Without further ado, he takes his handkerchief from his pocket, ties it to his left arm, closes his eyes gently, and makes a wish.
“Give me even a glimmer of hope, I'm still hoping it will happen.” He slowly opens his eyes and smiles bitterly.
He looked up at the dark sky for a few seconds before getting into his car and driving home.
The road was silent, he couldn't see anyone on the side of the road, and the only thing that was awake at the time was the post lights, which provided light in the dark road. Kai was almost home when he noticed something in the middle of the road not far away. Something in white... His pupils dilate as he squints at the distant image. A cold breeze blew down his spine out of nowhere. He quickly closes his eyes to regain his composure, and when he opens his eyes, a sudden white image gradually becomes clear to his sight as he gets closer to where it was. Until he saw it in full-scale, a lady dressed in a white gown with long hair covering her entire face.
A sudden vibration rushes to his chest as he completely processes what is in front of him.
“WHITE LADY!” he exclaimed in his mind, closing his eyes abruptly and barely stepping the car's break in extreme fright that caused his chest and face to slam against the car's wheel.
“This can't be true! This isn't real!” he told himself over and over, convincing himself that what he was seeing was false.
After a few minutes, he regained his courage and returned to the road, only to discover that no one was there. There is no such thing as the white lady. He felt better after taking a deep breath and sighed.
“Shit! That scared the living daylights out of me!” he exclaimed, his eyes wide open.
He began to move his gaze around the room to ensure that no one was present. And, just to be sure, he got out of his car to double-check that he hadn't hit anyone with his car, but to his surprise, he saw a lady sprawled in the road close enough to get hit by his car.
“Shit! “Did I hit her?” He cursed silently in his head and rushed up to the lady lying in the road. He examined the lady to see if there was any evidence of being hit or bumped by a car, but there was none. He parted the lady's rambling hair and gently patted her face in an attempt to wake her up, but it didn't work; she's still unconscious.
“Shit! “Is she already dead?” he wondered nervously.
He placed his ear above the lady's chest to ensure that she was still alive, but before his ear landed on the lady's chest, he sniffed a strong odor of liquor.
“Crap!” he cursed, taking his distance apart and covering his nose.
“Damn!” He cursed inside his head, "I thought it was a white lady, but it's just a drunk lady!" After realizing what he had done to himself just a moment before, he let out a soft laugh.
He continued to tap the lady's face in an attempt to wake her up, but she appeared to be completely consumed by her intoxication.
“What am I going to do with her? I can't leave her alone here. If I do that, she might be in danger.” Kai is speaking to himself.
He sighs and returns his gaze to the lady's face, which appears to be drowned by her sleepiness.
“Looks like you've left me with no choice,” he said weakly as he lifted the lady and placed her in the passenger seat. He adjusts the car seat so she can sleep comfortably on the way to his house. He then sat in the driver's seat, started the engine, and drove home.
While driving, Kai keeps looking at the lady next to him who is fast asleep; he sighs and smiles as he recalls what happened a moment ago.
“Who would have thought that despite my age, I still believe in urban legends like the White Lady? Mom, it's all your fault. When I was a kid, you used to tell me scary stories.” And a grin slipped into his lips, and he blew out an air, but those quickly faded.
“What the hell am I saying?” he cursed in his head, tightening his grip on the steering wheel.
“Kai, pull yourself together. Keep in mind what she did. Keep that in mind at all times!” He clenched his teeth and said to himself. He focused his attention immediately on the road.
They've arrived at his home in no time. He carried her to the guest room. He placed the lady in bed with care.
“This will suffice,” he said as he looked at the lady with a smile on her face, who grabbed the pillow beside her and cuddled it. Kai smiles as he notices the lady's endearing gesture, which makes her look like a sleepy child. A sudden unexplainable feeling he had while looking at the lady in front of him that came to mind.
He thought to himself, "She looks familiar." He attempted to recall it but came up empty-handed.
"Perhaps it's just my imagination," he speculated.
He returned his gaze to the lady and smiled as he saw the lovely creation in front of him. He tucked the lady's unkempt hair behind her ear.
He said softly, "Sleep well." He plants a kiss on its forehead out of the blue. After realizing what he'd done, he stormed out of the guest room, leaving the lady alone.
“Shit! “What was that?” he exclaimed as he dashed into his room. In disbelief, he slammed his palm against his forehead.
Kai threw himself into his soft bed as he entered his room, his eyes flickering as he looked up at the ceiling. Something was causing his peace to be shaken because he was feeling uneasy. The lady's presence was causing him discomfort. Something made him feel uneasy, and it shaken his calm mind. The lady's presence was causing him discomfort. She appears to be familiar to him, and he has feelings for her that he cannot explain or recall who or where he felt that way. With so much thought in which and with whom he felt unexplainable feelings that gradually tired him and drowsy that he decided to sleep for a rest.
RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF HIS SLEEP, Kai heard a small beautiful melody. Despite the fact that he is a slave to his sleepiness, he can locate the source of the beautiful melody even with his eyes closed. As if his body has its own life and knows where he can navigate the corridor without looking in his way or hurting or bumping into anything. He entered the room where he heard the lovely melody, and when he opened his eyes, he saw a woman laying on her bed, smiling at Kai. He sat next to her and hugged her without hesitation.“Mommy,” he said softly, as if he were a child, with tenderness in his voice. His mother reaches out her arms to embrace him and caress his hair.He felt his mother's love and care in every caress she made in his hair, which caused him to hug her tightly. But he snaps out of it as soon as he realizes it's impossible. This is not a possibility. This is simply not a viable option. She would never do anything like this. Those were the
“I APOLOGIZE if I'm being impolite, but what is your name, Miss?” Robert inquired as to who couldn't keep his horses any longer. The lady cast a glance at Robert, but quickly removed her gaze and returned her attention to her soup. She replied, "Sittie," after taking a spoonful of soup.“What—”Robert was about to finish his sentence when he felt Kai kick him in the shin under the table, causing them to look at each other. Kai shoved his head against Robert, telling him to stop asking Sittie strange questions and to concentrate on his food. Robert followed Kai and shoved a heaping spoonful of rice, bacon, and sausages into his mouth. After such large bites, his curiosity continues to pique, and a slew of questions arise in his mind, to which he seeks answers. He knows he won't get an answer from Kai; he's the type of man who will keep his silence if he says he won't tell anyone anything. But Robert is not the type of man who
WHEN KAI enters his house, he immediately turns his gaze to Robert, who has a silly grin on his face. “Wait a minute, Kai, what was that? You seem to have a strong attachment to her?” Robert inquired, a teasing tone in his voice. “Stop it, Robert,” he said flatly. “Are you sure there hasn’t been anything—” “I told you to stop!” Robert was stopped by Kai, who spoke authoritatively and glared at him. “Woah! Wow! Man, calm down! You don’t have to be so agitated. I’m just curious why you’re so upset about it.” Robert indicated his surrender by waving his hands in the air. Kai returned his attention to his food after clicking his tongue. While Robert continues to stare at him, he can't help but wonder. “But don't you find it odd? Why was she behaving in this manner? Does she have an attitude problem?” he wondered aloud to himself. “Is that the new way to say thank you?” he sarcastically asked, turning his gaze to Kai, who was preocc
She patted her forehead after she realized what she had done. She quickly fix herself and went to the sink to wash her sappy fingers. When she was standing in front of the fridge, she felt a sharp ache in her head, which caused her to kneel and hold it with her other hand; the ache was unbearable. Her head appears to be on the verge of splitting in two. However, after a few moments, the soreness vanished and she felt much better. So she gradually raises her face till she regains her proper posture. She saw her reflection on the fridge door directly in front of her when she was able to stand up straight. She definitely saw herself, and she couldn't stop staring at herself in the reflection.“Are you suffering from a hangover?”After hearing Blessie's voice, Sittie turned away from her own image.“Uhm, yeah,” she replied quickly.“I'm sorry, Sittie, if you have to put up with this mess,” Blessie murmured, her face flushed
AFTER A LONG WALK, she had already arrived at her house. She went straight to her room, and her attention was drawn to the folders scattered on her desk, so she filed them all together. Her attention was drawn to a picture on the edge of her desk after she had fixed her folders; it was their photo of Sittie and Blythe, and seeing it made her feel uneasy.. “If you’re truly sorry for everything I’ve gone through, take a deep breath and reconnect with yourself. Blessie, fix yourself so we can live our lives in peace. We have the option of returning to our former selves. You know you’re the only one who can make Blythe and I vanish from your life; you’re the only one who can make it happen. You may live in peace, and we will never have to deal with such difficulties again.” Sittie's words echoed in her thoughts, causing her to doubt and bemoan herself. “Sorry, Sittie, but I don't believe I can do it,” she said quietly to herself. “Please, save me.”
KAI was few steps away from Blessie when he turn his gaze back to her and watched her from a distance. He carefully watch her, she seems to be different from the last time he saw her.“Maybe I’m just over reacting things,” He grumbled and walked away with a smile on his face—an inexplicable satisfaction that he can't disguise.“What's up with that grin on your face, Kai?” Robert asked Kai when ran into him on his way out of the kitchen.“Nothing,” he quickly answered.“Kai, why are you keeping me in the dark? Isn't it true that we're friends?” Robert stated in an overly dramatic tone.“Stop it, Robert; don't get yourself into trouble by being curious about anything. You're behaving like an old hag who gossips,” Kai spoke without reservation, ignoring the fact that his remarks would offend his friend. And then proceeded to the kitchen to double-check and prepare the ingredients
HALF AN HOUR before the wedding event, Kai and his team had already completed the dishes that will be served. Gregory, his sous-chef, was given the instruction to begin dishing out the entire menu at each station right away. Gregory obeyed Kai's command and quickly assigned each station chef to their respective post based on their area of expertise to monitor and answer the guests' inquiries about the cuisine they had been served. Kai looked for a place to relax after ensuring that there was no more work that needed to be done and that Gregory followed his directions. He was drained from the event's long and arduous preparation. It was nearly dusk at the time, which made him feel even more weary. He began to wander around the resort looking for a spot to relax when his eyes caught a glimpse of the hammock under the shed of a coconut tree that was not visible to the guests who were present at the event. He take big strides to get close enough to the hammock to lie down, but h
Their faces were filled with joy. Blessie felt as if she were witnessing a movie of her childhood recollections. Happiness that clearly demonstrates love and care, however, those beautiful, significant, and joyful pictures of her past began to collapse and shift away, where the young her was avoided and left all alone by other children. “Don't leave me alone,” whimpered bylittle Blessie. “We don't need you! You're crazy!” “Why? I've done nothing wrong—" "Stop! Having a freak as a friend is not something we enjoy! " yelled and screamed the little mean to Blessie as she yanked her friends away from Blessie. "Please don't leave me," she begged. Blessie experienced first-hand, with her own two eyes, how her classmates ignored and rejected her when she was a kid. Tears streamed down her cheeks one by one. Inside that classroom, none of her classmates tried to approach her. They leave her alone in the corner and treat her as if she wer
Kai's parents successfully managed to separate him from the young girl, and they relocated to America. It became a ritual for him to sit inside the barrel, where he would reflect on the promise he and Blessie had exchanged."Just wait for me, Blessie. Just keep holding on," he murmured softly to himself, the words carrying a weight of determination and longing. In those solitary moments, amidst the echoes of memories and unspoken hopes, Kai found solace in the belief that one day, he would fulfill his promise to Blessie and be reunited with her.Kai tightly squeezed his hands and hugged himse
Days turned into weeks, and young Kai's clandestine meetings with the young girl became a routine. I won't leave her!" yo
As Kai drifted deeper into sleep, he found himself immersed in a vivid recollection from his childhood. In the dream, he was a young boy, surrounded by the warmth of his family's love. It was his birthday, a day filled with joy and celebration. In the midst of all the excitement, he remembered the tender gestures of his parents."Happy birthday, baby," his mother whispered, her voice overflowing with affection as she tucked him into bed.And then, his father's voice, deep and reassuring, echoed in the room, "Happy birthday, my son," he said, his hand resting gently on Kai's shoulder. In that moment, Kai felt enveloped in a sense of belonging and security, wrapped in the love of his parents. However, it was just his dream that will never came true.As young Kai awoke, he was greeted by lavish gifts from his parents, a substitute for their absence on his birthday. Today was meant to be special, yet the one person he yearned for the most was absent once again. On his birthday, he found h
The cold whispers of the sea and the chilly breeze went unnoticed by the two clasped in each other's arms. The only thing that mattered that night was the burning passion and fervor of their bodies, overpowering their senses. They were giving each other all the heat they desired, lost in a world where nothing else existed but their shared desire. The rhythmic crashing of the waves against the shore seemed to synchronize with the pounding of their hearts, creating a symphony of raw emotion and unbridled passion. Their bodies moved in perfect harmony, each touch, kiss, and caress igniting a fire that only grew hotter with every passing moment. In that secluded spot, surrounded by the vastness of the ocean and the star-studded sky, they found solace and ecstasy in each other’s embrace, letting the night carry them away in its tide of fervent love and desire.“I think we can make this better if we’re lying down,” Blythe suggested, her desire intensifying.Kai didn't answer with words. Ins
Kai and Blythe continued walking, Kai's steps directionless as he lost himself in thought, while Blythe silently observed him, her focus solely on his face. Unbeknownst to them, they had wandered to the far end of the resort, surrounded by large rocks, with the moonlight shining brightly over the sea, seemingly engulfing everything in its path."Kai," Blythe called out, breaking the silence."Yes?" he responded, turning to face her."Do you still love her?" Blythe asked suddenly.Kai remained silent, his eyes fixed on the vast ocean. Blythe gently held his face in her hands, turning it towards her, locking gazes with him."Stop loving her and start loving me. I won't let you feel insignificant because of a girl who has been controlling you for years. She doesn't deserve that kind of power over you. Since then, she's only brought chaos into your life, so cut the ties. Sever them! Don't let your troubled past hold you captive, and I'll help you break free," Blythe said with a smile."Bu
As their conversation delved into more personal topics, Blythe found herself drawn closer to Kai, both physically and emotionally. The once distant space between them seemed to shrink with each shared story and exchanged glance. With every sip of alcohol, inhibitions dissolved, and a sense of intimacy grew between them.Blythe, feeling the effects of the alcohol, leaned into Kai's comforting presence, finding solace in his warmth. His arm around her felt like a protective shield against the world, and she found herself unconsciously seeking his closeness.Kai, noticing Blythe's vulnerability, gently guided her with his words, sharing anecdotes from his past to distract her from the swirling thoughts in her mind. His touch on her arm was both comforting and electrifying, sending shivers down her spine as they walked together.Lost in the haze of the alcohol and the intimacy of their conversation, Blythe allowed herself to be enveloped by the moment, relishing the feeling of connection
As Blythe stepped into the reception hall, the air seemed to shift, all eyes turning towards her. Whispers of admiration followed in her wake, but she remained indifferent to the attention. With determination in her gaze, she began to search for Kai amidst the sea of people, but he seemed elusive in the bustling crowd."Damn it! Where is he?" she cursed under her breath.Feeling a surge of irritation, she approached the bar counter and began indulging in tequila sunrise. Shot after shot, she tried to drown out her frustration, yet Kai remained elusive amidst the throng. Determined, she resumed her search, weaving through the crowd in hopes of catching a glimpse of him. After what felt like an eternity, her gaze finally landed on the young man, but her relief was short-lived as she noticed a woman wrapped around his arm, prompting a quizzical raise of his eyebrow."How dare that bitch?" Blythe muttered angrily. "Nobody dares to threaten what is rightfully mine! Or even ours!"Blythe wa
AFTER a few hours, Blessie woke up feeling refreshed.“That felt great!” she said cheerfully, stretching her arms. She looked around for Kai but couldn’t find him. She didn’t know why, but she felt a bit disappointed.“Where could he be?”She got up and went to the mirror to check her appearance. Her forehead was still slightly swollen, but it was better than before. She noticed a sticky note on the mirror. How’s your sleep? I hope it recharged you well. Don’t go back on your word after I made my promise. See you there.-Kai(P.S. I really tried hard to restrain myself from touching you, so better not to chicken out)She crumpled the note in irritation and threw it in the trash.“Does he think I don’t keep my promises?” she said, annoyed. She looked out the window and saw that it was dark. She checked her watch and saw it was past seven in the evening.“Crap!”She quickly ran to her room, closing the windows and doors.“What should I do? What should I do?” she asked herself, panicking
"HOW IS SHE?" Kai asked the doctor hurriedly. The doctor hung his stethoscope around his neck before facing him."Don’t worry about your girlfriend, she just had a slight concussion due to what happened earlier, as you mentioned, so there's no need to worry," the doctor said with a smile.“If she's okay, then why is she in pain?” he questioned, not understanding why the girl was complaining about her head."I know you're worried, but it's natural. I already gave her a painkiller, and all she needs is to rest. I think she has a low tolerance for pain and she's quite tired, so take care of your girlfriend," the doctor explained before leaving."I'm not your girlfriend, that doctor keeps saying it over and over," Blessie said with a pout and narrowed eyes.“It’s okay, you'll get used to it,” Kai said with a grin.“Shut up! You’re saying all sorts of things!” she said, closing her eyes in embarrassment.Kai approached her and gently placed an ice pack on her forehead, which had a bump. Bl
