The underground passage twisted and turned like a living thing, the walls damp with moisture and the air thick with the scent of earth and something older, something ancient. Kade’s grip on my wrist was firm as he led the way, his body tense, his senses sharp. The echo of our hurried footsteps filled the passage, a reminder that we were still being hunted.

My mind raced as I tried to make sense of everything. The creature’s words haunted me. “She belongs to us.”

I wasn’t some lost rogue. I wasn’t tied to anyone. So why had it said that?

Kade pulled me around a sharp corner, his steps urgent. “We need to move faster. That thing won’t give up so easily.”

“What was it?” I demanded. “You keep saying it’s not a normal rogue. Then what is it?”

Kade exhaled sharply, glancing at me with an expression I couldn’t quite read. “Not here. Not now.”

I woke up that day with a sense of dread in my gut. It was the day of the full moon, and I knew that I was not going to be initiated into the pack. I had failed the trials, and I was weak. But despite my failure, I still had to attend the ceremony.I got dressed in a simple, white dress and made my way to the clearing where the ceremony was held. As I walked, I could feel the eyes of the other wolves on me their curiosity and scorn a palpable force. They knew that I had failed, and they looked at me with a mixture of pity and disdain.I tried to ignore their stares and focus on the ceremony. The moon was high in the sky and I could feel its pull on me, even though I was not a full member of the pack. All around are the victorious werewolves, their eyes glowing with intensity, prepared for the initiation ceremony. They were the chosen ones, the warriors who had proven their strength and skill by triumphing in the grueling trials. They stood tall, radiating a primal aura sender shivers

Chapter 5The moment my fingers brushed against the stranger’s hand, a sudden rush of energy coursed through me. It was not magic—not like the power that pulsed through the Alphas or the gifted warriors of the Dauntless Pack—but something different. Something restrained yet potent, like a hidden storm waiting to be unleashed. With a firm grip, the stranger pulled me to my feet and turned, moving swiftly through the trees. Their pace was neither too fast nor slow—measured, controlled. I had no choice but to follow. Behind us, the rogues were groaning, beginning to stir. If we lingered, they would come after us.I stumbled as I tried to keep up, my exhausted body protesting every movement. My feet ached, my muscles burned, but I gritted my teeth and pushed forward. The stranger wove effortlessly between the trees, barely making a sound. Whoever they were, they had the precision and discipline of a warrior. Not a rogue, not a desperate wanderer, but something else entirely. After what fel

As the sun began to dip below the horizon, we reached a small clearing near a stream. Kade stopped abruptly, scanning our surroundings.“We camp here,” he announced.I sighed in relief. My legs felt like they might give out at any moment. I dropped onto a patch of soft moss, stretching out my aching limbs.Kade, meanwhile, began setting up a small fire. His movements were precise, efficient. I watched as he worked, noting the way his hands moved with practiced ease.“You’re good at this,” I said.He didn’t look up. “Survival is a skill everyone should have.”I frowned. “Were you a warrior?”Kade’s hands stilled for a fraction of a second before resuming their task. “Once.”There was something in his tone—a weight, a history he wasn’t willing to share. I didn’t push. I had my own past I didn’t want to talk about. That night, as the fire crackled between us, I found myself watching Kade closely. He was a mystery, but for the first time in a long while, I didn’t feel completely alone.Ho

A figure stepped into view. Not the creature.A man.Tall, lean, his clothes torn and bloodstained. His dark eyes flickered between us, calculating. There was something feral about him, something dangerous."You’re a long way from home," the stranger said, his voice smooth but edged with caution.Kade didn’t lower his weapon. "Who are you?"The man smirked. "Someone who can help you. If you’re willing to listen."I exchanged a glance with Kade. We had no reason to trust this man, but we were exhausted, vulnerable. And if he had information—"Help us how?" I asked, my voice steadier than I felt. The stranger’s smirk widened. "By getting you to the Genie Pack alive."Kade didn’t move, his expression unreadable. "And what do you want in return?"The man tilted his head, considering. Then, he simply said, "Your trust."Something about the way he said it sent a shiver d
