Chapter 12 - Feeling secure

Giovanni hadn't returned from work yet, and Brenda had a feeling it was going to be one of those nights he spent away from home, as he usually did once or twice a week.

She had dinner alone and turned on the television, making an effort to understand the dialogues of the movie she had in front of her.

Giovanni's teasing about her language skills had stung enough for her to make an effort to sprinkle her Spanish with Italian words, still lacking enough grammatical fluency to string together full sentences.

But despite her amusing way of expressing herself, Giovanni had stopped laughing at her in that regard and rewarded her with a "Bravo" every time she got the right word, patiently correcting her when she was wrong.

Until that night, she hadn't decided to watch an entire movie, and she was glad to see that she understood enough to guess the plot and some conversations.

Only the actors who spoke very quickly were unintelligible to her.

Chapter 13 - A proposal That Friday, Giovanni hadn't come home to sleep. He had spent the entire night out, and Brenda had barely slept. She couldn't help but feel slightly worried. Surely, he would be with Francesca, but what if that wasn't the case? What if something had happened to him with the motorbike?Maybe he had been drinking, and in that city, traffic was crazy. When she came back from class and he wasn't there, she sensed that he wouldn't come to dinner and would arrive late, but what she initially thought would be a quiet and relaxed night at home had turned into a half-asleep vigil, waiting to hear his keys in the lock. But when she got up in the morning, there were no signs that he had returned all night. He had probably been at Francesca's house, although she wasn't sure.Brenda had thought about going downtown and buying the drawing material she needed, but she didn't dare to leave the house in case he returned. In the end, she decided, and when she returned at noon,

Do I not have enough appeal that you would be willing to sacrifice yourself for me?""I didn't talk about sacrifice, and yes, I do think you're attractive, despite your youth. But if you're like me and don't want to emotionally commit to anyone... maybe we can come to an agreement.""Something like our marriage.""Yes, something like that.”"What would Francesca think of that?" She looked at him with interest."I don't have to tell her. I never tell her what we eat or what clothes we buy. It's just about meeting needs.""I don't have any, and as you told me, yours are covered, so forget it. Besides, you're not my type," she said indifferently."Fine, suit yourself," Giovanni shrugged. "I just wanted you to know that you can count on me if you need it.""Thank you very much, I'll keep that in mind... if I need it."Brenda stretched her legs and put them up on a chair to soothe her s

Chapter 15 - Mother-in-law visitGiovanni's mother did indeed arrive on Sunday afternoon. He went to pick her up at the bus station, and Brenda returned early from her walk to be home when they arrived. She was determined to make a good impression, despite what Giovanni had told her about his mother. Surely he was exaggerating. When they arrived, Brenda asked solicitously if she would like something to drink, but her mother-in-law replied that she would not, as she would have dinner early.Giovanni had warned her not to pay much attention to her, as she would likely criticize everything they did."Don't let anything she says affect you. It's just one day," he had commented.Brenda found it hard to believe everything he had told her. When she met her on the day of the wedding, she had behaved properly, cold but polite and courteous. When Giovanni went into the kitchen to prepare dinner, she commented:"So, you're the one who has to cook? Doesn't your wife cook?""Brenda cooks when it's

Chapter 16 - Arguments...because of jealousy?Brenda closed her eyes and fell asleep peacefully, much calmer than the nights she had locked the door, and especially much calmer than the nights he was absent from home.Giovanni had a harder time falling asleep, even though he had taken a sleeping pill when he entered the bathroom. In reality, knowing that he would find it very difficult to sleep with her nearby, he had tried to do what he had joked about with her, but he hadn't been able to.He had taken out his address book and tried to call some "girlfriends", but no matter how much he flipped through the pages and looked at the names, he couldn't decide on any, because he didn't really feel like sleeping with them.He had to admit that the only one he wanted to do it with was lying beside him... and he couldn't touch her.He tossed and turned in bed for a while, and gradually, the sleeping pill took effect and he eventually fell asleep. The next day when Brenda got up, Giovanni and

He tried to sound casual, but to him, it didn't seem to work."Perfectly." Her tone was curt and cold; she moved away from him, pretending not to notice how the Italian man looked at her, each time sending butterflies fluttering in her stomach.A couple of weeks later, Brenda came home from the academy and found Giovanni engrossed in a pile of papers. It was her turn to prepare dinner that night, so she greeted him curtly and headed into the kitchen. He got up and followed her, s

Passionate encounterIt was beautiful to see her on his bed. He would never have allowed himself to have a fantasy like that, not knowing if she desired it too, but now they were there, on the brink of surrendering to each other and living their best adventure."I've been treasuring this, but I'm determined, Giovanni," she confessed, making him even more excited as he recalled the memories.Memories of her half-naked, then with her round and perfect breasts exposed, longing to touch them madly."I've also thought a lot about this.""Giovanni," she said, looking into his eyes, "I can't resist anymore."She kissed him slowly, her soft lips pressing against the Italian's mouth.Without breaking away, she began to eagerly request his tongue. It was futile to resist, she gave in, letting herself go.He took the girl by the nape of her neck, pulling her towards him, thrusting his tongue into the mouth of that woman, who inflamed his soul and body. With his other hand, he held her small wais

"Surrendering to each other"Giovanni swallowed loudly, thinking they could probably hear him in the neighboring city.He hadn't expected Brenda to say those words, perhaps that's why his heart was pounding like a jumping bean.Brenda looked at him expectantly, wondering if she had said something wrong."Piccola…""Is what I said wrong? I'm sorry, I…"This time it was Giovanni who approached, silencing her protest with a kiss. Brenda clung to him and opened her mouth eagerly, uncaring of where they were. But Giovanni did care, he wanted to kiss her and touch her alone, make her feel like a woman, make her moan and gasp his name, penetrate her until he felt sated and exhausted."Let's go home, cara mia."She nodded, unable to find her voice to speak. She looked somewhat fearful at the motorcycle, but Giovanni took her hand and tied it around his waist, setting off back home as quickly as possible. He didn't want to cause an accident, but the desire coursing through his veins like burni

"I desire you, cara mia."Brenda thought Luciano didn't seem homosexual in any way. How was that possible? She tried to focus and smiled broadly when she saw Luciano take another step, as if he were about to kiss her on the mouth. She heard the screech of a chair being dragged, and soon Giovanni was upon them, glaring at them as if he wanted to incinerate them alive."Giovanni! What are you doing here?"She feigned surprise, but the truth was she was eager to smile. Apparently, the plan had worked."What do you mean, what am I doing here?" he snapped angrily. "Do you think I'm going to let you go out with this wannabe pretty boy?""Hey...""You shut up!" he pointed a finger at Luciano, who barely flinched in his place. "I'm a member of the Italian mafia, so you better be careful or you'll end up in a bad way!"Brenda widened her eyes at hearing that.Mafia? What the hell was going on there?"Did you just say you're a member of the Italian mafia?" she questioned incredulously."Shut th

A SpyWhen a week later Brenda told him she was going out with a classmate, Giovanni didn't hesitate to ask if it was the same one."Do you think she'd go out with that guy after I helped scare him off?" "Then who is it?"He thought he was feigning curiosity, but his serious expression alerted Brenda a bit, and she had to suppress a smile."I thought we wouldn't ask questions...""I just want to know, Brenda. Don't want you going out with a serial killer or a psychopath.""I doubt it," she said, pretending to be thoughtful. "He's a good guy and seems very interested in me.""Really!" Giovanni said sarcastically."I don't ask about your women, that was the deal," the American girl said seriously, shrugging her shoulders."Sure, the deal."That night, Giovanni saw Brenda leave with a man who seemed "too perfect" in his opinion.Tall, with blue eyes and dark hair, elegantly dressed and from a well-off social st

She had noticed that the guy looked at her a lot while they drew, but she didn't think he would approach her and ask her out.It had been funny, though. He wasn't ugly, but the truth was he seemed so dull, so childish...She smiled at the thought of what he would say if he knew she was married.Several days later, Máximo approached her again, and she excused herself once more. But on Sunday afternoon, she was alone at

The kiss was just a game. The girl fell into thought for a few seconds."Although I'm not sure about giving Brenda and Giovanni the room, because with the kiss they shared, they must have been on fire. Enjoy your victory," Brenda said, feeling a bit nervous."Then invite me, and you'll see that Giovanni isn't the only one who knows how to kiss.""Go to hell, Sandro. I already told you I'm sleeping with Paula."After the game was over, they had one last drink and spread out sleeping bags around the fireplace. Giovanni placed his next to Brenda's, very close to each other, and they climbed inside. She tried to sleep but couldn't. She saw Giovanni's sleeping face beside her with a serene expression she had never seen before, and she couldn't shake the memory of how he had kissed her; the things she had felt, and how she had kissed him back. What would Giovanni think? Well, she didn't even know what to think of herself! All she knew w
