Chapter 2 - The Wedding

When they disembarked from the plane at Turin airport, only Giovanni's mother was there.

She excused her son, saying he had to carry out some last-minute preparations, and accompanied them to the hotel, leaving them there and giving them directions to the courthouse.

After lunch, Brenda's mother insisted she go to the hotel's salon and start getting ready early, but she refused.

She decided to do her hair herself as usual and put on the simple white dress she had bought, rejecting the ostentatious wedding dress desired by her ambitious parents.

After taking a taxi, they headed to the courthouse.

Brenda got out of the vehicle and began to answer greetings from people she didn't know, elegant and refined people who had her parents ecstatic and herself on the verge of vomiting.

She felt watched and scrutinized by all the eyes present, putting her in a bad mood, but after several minutes, she didn't see Giovanni anywhere.

Suddenly, the sound of a motorcycle revved up in the narrow street and everyone looked in that direction.

"The groom is here," someone said.

It was a monstrous motorcycle, with a large engine, black and red in color. Riding it was a man with brown hair waving in the wind, wearing black leather pants and jacket.

"Wow, he looks so handsome!" several girls sighed at the sight.

That day, the elegant young man from a few days ago looked threatening, almost like a gangster, as he parked by the curb and everyone approached to greet him.

"Hi, Brenda," he said casually.

"What a way to show up to a wedding, even if it's fictitious," the girl thought, perplexed.

She felt uncomfortable under his gaze.

"Well, let's go," he said coldly. "The sooner we finish this, the better."

"Sure, why wait," Brenda muttered under her breath.

The judge spoke in Italian, and Brenda barely had any idea what he was saying. She just answered as she had been instructed, and in a short while, she was married.

Her head was spinning. Had she really done it?

Once the ceremony was over, they went to eat; Brenda and Giovanni accompanied by both sets of parents and some of the Italian's friends.

When they arrived at the restaurant, he introduced her to everyone, a mix of names and faces that Brenda couldn't match.

Throughout the meal, he barely looked at her, let alone spoke to her. He chatted and joked with his companions while she ate in silence, feeling overwhelmed by the imposing presence of her now husband.

She didn't even want to think about what would happen if she hadn't stipulated her conditions; she was glad to have them on hand in case of any eventuality.

After lunch, Brenda's parents left again for the hotel, as they had an early flight back the next day. Giovanni's mother was staying at the same place, waiting to return to Verona.

After bidding farewell to their companions, Giovanni invited her to hop on the motorcycle with him.

"Well, let's go home."

"On the bike?"

"I don't have a car."

"I don't want to die on my wedding day."

He looked at her mockingly.

"I'm not going to kill you, I haven't taken out a life insurance policy on you yet."

"Do you think you're very funny?"

"Well, if you don't want to come with me on the bike, take a taxi."

She looked at him puzzled, but nodded.

Giovanni wrote down the address on a piece of paper and gave her money to pay. Then he started the engine and quickly disappeared from view among the streets.

Brenda found herself standing on the sidewalk; dressed as a bride and not knowing what to do. Why did he have to be so rough?

Shortly after, a taxi passed by and she hailed it, giving the driver the address.

When she arrived, he was already there, with the motorcycle parked at the door and sitting on it, waiting for her.

"Well, I see you managed to make it!" he teased.

"Did you doubt it?" she frowned.

"Wait for me here, I'll go to the garage to park the bike."

Minutes later, he led her through a wide and not too steep staircase.

Brenda swallowed hard when she saw how tall he looked, taller than the last time. He was more than two heads taller than her and was strong, with broad shoulders.

Once he had opened the door with a key he took from his jacket pocket, he turned to her.

"Do I need to carry you in my arms?"

"Not a chance..."

"I thought it was a custom in your country," he smiled charmingly.

Brenda hesitated for a few seconds and then shook her head, seeing his eyes sparkling with amusement at her scrutiny.

Perhaps she had been so nervous before that she hadn't noticed earlier that he was much bigger than her.

Unlike Fiorella, who was almost as tall as him, Brenda was a petite nymph, with blue eyes and golden blonde hair.

She regained her composure and declared with her chin held high:

"I don't know if it's a custom in my country, but I plan to walk in by myself; I have legs for that.”

He stepped aside and gestured for her to enter with a nod of his head.

"Your new home... for now."

Brenda entered a large apartment with an entrance leading to the kitchen and living room.

The living room had a wide glass window overlooking the avenue they had come from. In the middle of the living room, a hallway led to the bedrooms and one of the bathrooms.

The other bathroom was inside the master bedroom. One of the smaller rooms was an office where Brenda saw her suitcases.

"They left your luggage here. You tell me where you want me to put it."

"I don't know which room is mine."

Giovanni opened a door, revealing a master bedroom with a large bed.

"I sleep here. If you want, you can share it with me or use the guest room," he opened the adjoining door.

"Of course, I want the guest room. You don't expect us to sleep together, do you? It's in the agreement..."

"Do you expect it?" he commented mockingly.

"Of course not."

He shrugged.

"Then..."

He effortlessly grabbed the suitcases and placed them inside the guest bedroom.

Although she knew this marriage was just a temporary arrangement, she couldn't help feeling anxious about what awaited her at Giovanni's house. Finally, she gathered her courage and stepped out of the bathroom to meet Giovanni in the living room. He greeted her with a calm smile, but Brenda couldn't help but notice the glint of complicity in his eyes. Her stomach fluttered slightly, but she remained composed, at least on the outside."Welcome to our temporary home," Giovanni said, gesturing towards the house they would now share.Brenda nodded, trying to hide her nerves as she followed him inside. The house was impressive, with high ceilings and elegant furniture that seemed straight out of an interior design magazine. However, Brenda felt a little uneasy when she realized she didn't know where she would be sleeping."Where's my room?" s

She had breakfast and set about unpacking her luggage and exploring the house calmly. She observed the photographs decorating the living room, all of them of Giovanni with various people, except for a wedding photo, presumably of his parents. The man in the photo resembled his son, only with a less fierce, more friendly expression; the tough expression he had inherited from his mother, undoubtedly. One photo caught her attention, taken in front of a large company with the sign "Stella d'oro." Apparently, that was the name of the magazine where he worked, and his family owned it.Giovanni appeared in a photo with a very beautiful girl, he had his arms around her shoulders, and her face reminded her of having seen it at the courthouse."Perhaps he referred to her when he said he had his sexual and emotional life covered.""Could she

"Do you remember me? I was there on the wedding day.""Vaguely. There were so many unfamiliar faces, and I was so nervous...""Yes, that's understandable. Giovanni has asked me to accompany you to the academy and help you with the paperwork.""Yeah, I barely speak Italian and couldn't do it alone," she said apologetically."Well, whenever you're ready, we can go."Marco was a blond, slim guy, just a little taller than Brenda. She immediately felt comfortable in his company.Like Giovanni, he spoke Spanish perfectly and had no trouble communicating with him."It's a relief to talk to someone other than Giovanni. Since I hardly know any Italian...""You should enroll in an academy. If you learn it just by ear, you'll speak it wrong for the rest of your life. If you want, I can ask Francesca to find

She also applied more makeup than usual to make herself look a few years older. When she saw herself in the mirror, she felt satisfied. She hoped to make a good impression and to perfectly represent the role of the wife she had been hired to play.So far, he had fulfilled his part of the deal in every way, and she had not yet been able to reciprocate. The balance of their first week of marriage had been positive for Brenda. Chapter 7 - Just for AppearancesAfter a while, the music changed, and ballads began to play; beautiful songs that Brenda had heard in her country in a translated version, but sounded even more pleasant in Italian. She had to admit that this language was ideal for speaking about love. Perhaps someday an Italian would say words of love to her in that language. The image of Giovanni trying to say them to Francesca came to her mind, but she couldn't imagine it. The idea of him, with his husky voice and fierce appearance, saying words of love to anyone seemed impossible to her.Francesca must have been very desperate to get involved with Giovanni in that way, and moreover, to pretend to be so calm seeing them together.Would she be able to pretend if she were on the other side? She was sure she couldn't.Lost in her thoughts, she didn't realize that some members of the group had gone to dance until she felt Giovanni's hand on hers."Let's dance too," he said. She looked at him surprised,

Brenda immediately felt much more comfortable dancing with him than with Giovanni. After several songs, they sat down while Giovanni and Francesca continued on the dance floor. Francesca commented:"Your wife is beautiful.""Yeah, not bad.""I couldn't see her well on the wedding day, I was too far back, but she doesn't seem as childish as you say," she spoke thoughtfully."Well, she is, I assure you. You're not jealous, are you?" he smirked."Of course not, silly. I'm looking forward to having someone to share the responsibility of taking care of you," she said, playfully hitting his shoulder."You're my favorite girl, and no woman in my life will make me stop loving you,

Brenda's heart skipped a beat.Giovanni smiled, despite the unintended implication of what he had said. It hadn't been intentional, but he found the girl's reaction quite amusing."You're about to fall...""I can do it myself."Despite her words, she stumbled again, and Giovanni caught her in his arms, ending up even closer to her than they had been on the dance floor."Are you sure?" he raised an eyebrow, looking at her teasingly. "Let's suppose I believe you, what will you do when you smash your pretty face against the floor?""That'll be my problem," she snapped, annoyed, and Giovanni mov

He would never have allowed himself to have a fantasy like that, not knowing if she desired it too, but now they were there, on the brink of surrendering to each other and living their best adventure."I've been treasuring this, but I'm determined, Giovanni," she confessed, making him even more excited as he recalled the memories.Memories of her half-naked, then with her round and perfect breasts exposed, longing to touch them madly."I've also thought a lot about this.""Giovanni," she said, looking into his eyes, "I can't resist anymore."She kissed him slowly, her soft lips pressing against the Italian's mouth.Without breaking away, she began to eagerly request his tongue. "Surrendering to each other"Giovanni swallowed loudly, thinking they could probably hear him in the neighboring city.He hadn't expected Brenda to say those words, perhaps that's why his heart was pounding like a jumping bean.Brenda looked at him expectantly, wondering if she had said something wrong."Piccola…""Is what I said wrong? I'm sorry, I…"This time it was Giovanni who approached, silencing her protest with a kiss. Brenda clung to him and opened her mouth eagerly, uncaring of where they were. But Giovanni did care, he wanted to kiss her and touch her alone, make her feel like a woman, make her moan and gasp his name, penetrate her until he felt sated and exhausted."Let's go home, cara mia."She nodded, unable to find her voice to speak. She looked somewhat fearful at the motorcycle, but Giovanni took her hand and tied it around his waist, setting off back home as quickly as possible. He didn't want to cause an accident, but the desire coursing through his veins like burni

How was that possible? She tried to focus and smiled broadly when she saw Luciano take another step, as if he were about to kiss her on the mouth. She heard the screech of a chair being dragged, and soon Giovanni was upon them, glaring at them as if he wanted to incinerate them alive."Giovanni! What are you doing here?"She feigned surprise, but the truth was she was eager to smile. Apparently, the plan had worked."What do you mean, what am I doing here?" he snapped angrily. "Do you think I'm going to let you go out with this wannabe pretty boy?""Hey...""You shut up!" he pointed a finger at Luciano, who barely flinched in his place. "I'm a member of the Italian mafia, so you better be careful or you'll end up in a bad way!"Brenda widened her eyes at hearing that.Mafia?
