I felt so weak and sluggish, like something had been ripped right out of me, a part of me I could never replace. The weight of the previous night hung heavy on my shoulders like a looming cloud as I moved about the room, fitting my stuff into a single suitcase.

When Manuel came to assist me with the box, I felt an overwhelming sense of finality as he wheeled it out of the house. Each step I took felt heavier than the last, as if my emotions were physically anchoring me to the ground.
