Callum went back to his office with a sleeping Caleb in his arms. His son cried and cried as he pleaded with him to marry Bea. He should not have brought the child there if he knew that his father would pressure him into marriage on that day.

He thought that Caleb was mature enough but he was still a child. There was someone whom he wanted to be his mom and when he was presented with the possibility that the person he wanted could be replaced by some stranger, he felt afraid and desperate.

He did not expect that he would want Bea that bad. Truth be told, he did not even have any problems if Bea were to be his bride because the woman had all the qualities that he would want for Caleb’s mom. The problem was that Bea also had her life. He did not want to tie her down just for Caleb’s greed.

If he told Bea to marry him for Caleb’s sake, would she agree? If she did, what would happen if she falls in love with someone else in the future? Bea still ha

“Marry me.” Callum felt as if his heart stopped as he told her those words. What the heck? Did he come off too strong? How could he ask her to marry him if they were not even lovers in the first place? What was wrong with him and the order that which he did things? He was nervous because Bea on the other line had been silent for a while. Was she shocked? Was she disgusted? She already told him that she had no plans of getting married to him, right?“Bea, I know this is surprising but please know that I’m just doing this for Caleb.” He sighed. “I’m not trying to take advantage of your kindness towards me and my son so feel free to reject me if you don’t want to.”What was he saying? Of course, he would get rejected! Who in their right mind would marry a single father that she met almost a month ago?“Bea?” He called out when he did not hear from her after a few minutes.“Oh, sor

The weekend came too fast for Callum. The more he wished that it would not come, the faster the time went by. It was early in the morning and they decided to use a plane to visit Bea’s hometown. He let Caleb sleep while on the plane since the young boy was already used to traveling to different countries by plane. As soon as the plane landed in the province, he carried him, careful not to wake him up.“Daddy, you didn’t forget the ring, right?” Caleb mumbled as he hugged his father’s neck.“Yes, son. How could I forget?” he chuckled. It seemed like his son was more excited about his proposal compared to him.A man gave him the keys to the car that he rented and put Caleb on the car seat at the back. He made sure that Caleb was safely tucked before he sat on the driver’s seat and started the car. Should they check in first?“Daddy, let’s go meet Miss Bea first, please.” As if his son

It was awkward. From the moment they entered the restaurant until after the food was served, the atmosphere between Callum and Bea had been awkward. They had been tiptoeing around each other since their ride to the restaurant and no one dared to break the ice between them.“After the drinks were served, the waiter smiled. “Enjoy your meal.”Callum took a sip of the juice and gathered the courage to speak. Even if his goal was to get rejected, he could not stop himself from being nervous.“Bea…” Callum sighed as he took the ring from his pocket. He opened the case and shoved it closer to her. “I know I told you that I would not do this, but I had no choice. Will you marry me?”“You really…” Bea shook her head and sighed. “You don’t know how to beat around the bush, huh?”Callum chuckled as he felt relieved that Bea did not slap or looked at her with disgust.

Finally, the awkwardness was gone and the two ate in comfort. They talked about how Caleb had been after she went home and she somehow shared how cute her nieces and nephews were.“I shall bring you back home now. Let’s set a schedule when my family would visit yours, okay?” Callum said with a smile.“Why would you visit my family?” Bea asked. She felt as if a bucket of cold water was splashed on her and it made her get herself together. Why would he suddenly decide to visit her family?“Hey, don’t tell me you forgot that we’re getting married? Of course, we should inform them about our upcoming marriage, right? You don’t have to worry about the preparations, I’ll do it all on my end.”Bea looked down. But she wanted to be the one to prepare her own wedding. It was a once-in-a-lifetime event for her especially since they would not have a divorce no matter what. She had been a bit reckless w

Callum followed Bea’s father outside and they sat on the wooden bench on the terrace. The man looked at the afternoon sky with a tired smile on his face.“Truthfully, I don’t know much about you. All I know is that you were her source of comfort when everything crumbled down and we weren’t there for her,” Ben said without even looking at him. “Of course, I would be surprised to see my daughter having a ring on her finger a month after breaking up with her 5-year-long boyfriend. And I am also afraid… William had been with her for five years, but he cheated on her. How could I be sure that you will really treasure my daughter?”“Sir, I won’t brag but I was born having almost everything I want because I was from a wealthy family. I also made sure that I excel in almost everything so I was never scolded. There were few who were jealous of me but none of them openly showed that they disliked me. But because Bea sh

After that dinner, Bea was given the authority to oversee the wedding preparations. Their families agreed to have their wedding in the city so she ended up going back and forth from the province to the city from time to time.“Isn’t this place too big?” Mina asked as she looked around the garden where their marriage would occur.Callum agreed to have a garden wedding and he suggested three places. He told her that she could also search for other places but she believed that his suggestion would be best even if she tried searching. They were already at the last place and she decided that it was the best place to hold their wedding since it was big enough and it also had a cozy vibe that reminded her of her home.“This is big enough. If it was just me, this would be too big. But I think the chairman would invite a lot of people so we needed a bigger space,” Bea explained.“Don’t you want a small and private w

Three months passed by on a whim and only a few days were left before her most awaited day and everyone who was invited from her side was already staying in the hotel that they reserved. Though Callum volunteered to make hotel reservations and pay for their accommodations, Bea refused. Callum had been shouldering all the wedding expenses so she wanted to at least pay for her family’s accommodations. She did not want to rely on Callum’s wealth because she also had a stable job and lots of savings.“Are you excited?” Her father asked her while they were walking around the hotel garden. Brix and his family were swimming at the pool while some of her friends and workmates were taking a rest in their hotel rooms.“I’m actually a bit nervous.” And afraid. Bea could not tell her father how she was afraid of growing feelings for her fiancé. She was afraid that she would get a bit greedy and forget that Callum married her because

I want to try everything here, this time.” Caleb was so excited as he walked to the side. The game was called Apple or Banana. It was a game where they have to choose which one would come out and if they chose the right one, they would receive tokens as a reward.“I want to try this.” Caleb inserted his token into the slot and pushed the button for the banana. The machine played its background music as the fruits showed in random order. When the music stopped, the screen showed an apple so Caleb frowned.“This is no fun.” Caleb left and went towards the racing cars. “Mommy, can I ride this?”Bea smiled and shook his head. She could not let his son ride something that was as high as a real motorcycle. Though his father wo

Brent told me that it was good and I could get toys from my meals.”Bea laughed. “Sure let’s eat in a fast-food diner today.”“What?” The siblings said in unison.“What? Haven’t you tried eating from a fast-food diner yet?” Bea asked in a curious tone.Callum grinned and Carson held his nape. Those two looked similar and it was so cute to see them together. Bea led them to a fast-food diner and they stood in line waiting for their turn at the cashier.“Uncle, I want to check the kiddie meal toys.” Caleb pulled his uncle to the side where the toys were displayed.Bea smil

I was just a bit insecure. I promise I won’t do it again!”Bea watched her son cry while hugging her tightly. She was about to carry him but Callum stopped her and carried him instead.Bea smiled at her son and wiped his tears. “Were you hurt? Mommy is so sorry that I made our Caleb hurt. When you feel something like that, you should tell us, okay?”Caleb nodded his head. “Yes, mommy. I won’t make you worry again.”“Very good. You know that we don’t want our precious Caleb to be sad, right? Even if we have a new baby, you are still our first baby, okay? Our love for you will never change. She could not rest well knowing that the child was still not home.“Just let him be for today.” Callum tried to assure her. “He was in Carson’s house so he would be just fine.”“No. He’s not fine. Have you seen him earlier? He was emotionally hurt. We need to get him!” Bea cried.Callum sighed. Was this a part of her pregnancy? She was being overly sensitive.“Please pick him up. Carson was confused. He was so sure that those three had a good relationship so how come their child came crying to him?“Why is your eye swollen, Cale?” The chairman asked when he saw Caleb’s eyes.Carson just laughed as he put some food on Caleb’s plate. The child just cried his heart out all morning. He would just stop for a little while and then continue crying again. She sat on the passenger seat and just listened to the silence. However, she could not take it. Usually, Caleb would talk about how his day went until he fell asleep. She was afraid that something happened in that house that he did not want to tell them about.“Caleb?” Bea looked at him in the rearview mirror.“Hmm?” Caleb seemed uninterested, he did not even look at her. Was he mad that she did not accompany him to his grandfather’s house?“Will you tell Mommy if something was wrong?” Bea asked in a soft and gentle manner.“Nothing, Mom.”Bea sighed and looked at Callum.
