Mark stood quietly by the window, staring at the garden below, his gaze unfocused. He hadn't said a word since they returned.

Prisley knew why he was silent. When she and Tim separated and she came back to find Mark, she overheard the last thing old Grant said to him.

“A marriage without blessings will never be happy.”

Prisley was smart enough to guess what they talked about. She knew how much those words would hurt Mark.

Mark had been pampered his whole life, enjoying the indulgence and fulfillment of his every wish for over twenty years. But now, in the matter of marriage, he was coldly rejected. He couldn't accept it right away.

It didn't really bother Prisley, though. She had talked to Mark about this many times. She wasn't upset because she never intended to marry him.

But she truly cared about Mark. Seeing him so heartbroken made her feel bad. She was thinking about how to solve this problem in the best way possible.

Mark's face was full of helplessness. He was never good at hid

He drove through the busy streets and parked in front of a small, somewhat shabby office building. He got out of the car, took a deep breath, and walked to the reception desk. “Hi, I’d like to see Jennifer.”The receptionist looked up, noticing the man standing before her was handsome. She gave him a wink and then used the internal phone to notify Jennifer.Heath stood quietly at the reception, his perfect looks and physique attracting glances from passersby.Jennifer came out. When she saw Heath, she gasped and covered her mouth in surprise.“You’re... you’re Heath Rynn?” she stammered, trying to lower her voice but failing to hide her excitement. Her eyes sparkled with disbelief.Jennifer had only expected to see such a big shot on the internet or TV, not in person.Heath nodded calmly. “Yes. Would you be free to grab a coffee downstairs?”The café was almost empty, filled with the rich aroma of coffee beans. Sunlight streamed in, casting a lazy, rel

Prisley returned to the office, her smile a bit stiff. The last part of her talk with Steve had stirred up memories she didn’t want to face.Mark walked in with his usual warm smile. “What’s wrong, Prisley? Not feeling well?” He immediately noticed something was off and gently rubbed her arms.Prisley quickly composed herself and forced a light smile. “I’m fine, just a bit tired.”Mark gently hugged her, caressing her slightly rounded belly. “Why don’t you take a break from work and rest at home? We can talk about work after the baby is born.”His voice was soothing and chased away Prisley’s gloom.Prisley sighed, feeling warm and touched. “I’m okay. I can work.”Lately, her emotions had been all over the place. Since she became pregnant, even small things affected her more, and she’d occasionally cry over minor issues. Mark always showed up just when she needed him, wrapping her in his tenderness and care.“Are you sure? Really?” Mark asked with concern.Prisley nodded and smiled at h

But now, I have to think about your future."Mark asked quietly, "What"s wrong, Dad?" He had a feeling something was off. His father"s usually kind face was now serious, like when he was in a business meeting."My heart is getting worse. Even though I look fine on the outside, I know my own condition.""It could stop beating at any moment. I don't know if it will be tomorrow, next month, or next year. So, I have to make arrangements now."Mark interrupted anxiously, "What did the doctors say? There are so many treatments available. This isn't a big issue, Dad. Don't be so pessimistic."Mark had originally come home thinking only about getting some benefits from his father, maybe some shares or money. But hearing his father speak like this, he suddenly felt like the sky was falling. The

“With your immature look and still being wet behind the ears, you dared to compete with me for Prisley?”Heath said, half-joking, half-contemptuously. His tone held a touch of mockery, and a smirk curved his lips. He lounged on the sofa, casually tapping the edge of his wine glass with his fingers, casting a dismissive glance at Mark.Prisley, sitting next to Heath, gave him a gentle elbow jab. She shot him a disapproving look and then gave him a subtle wink, signaling him to ease up on Mark.To their surprise, Mark was momentarily stunned but then smiled calmly. His eyes showed a trace of self-deprecation but mostly relief.“You’re right, Heath. Compared to you, I’m indeed quite immature,” Mark said with a wry smile.“I finally understand that I’m definitely not the type Prisley likes. After saying goodbye to Prisley at the hospital, Mark drove home with a heavy heart. He couldn't remember how he drove—the dim streetlights and shadows on the road were all that filled his mind. It felt like the whole world had lost its color.Only when he instinctively hit the brakes did he realize he was already parked in his driveway.Inside his mansion, the silence made the space feel even more empty and cold. With one person missing, the house felt like a hollow shell, and even the air seemed thin.Mark walked unsteadily into the bedroom that was once filled with laughter and warmth. Prisley's presence was everywhere. Her book was still open on the nightstand, a few of her clothes casually draped over the chair. On the wall hung a portrait she had painted of him, so detailed, so lifelike. But the bed across from it was now empty.Mark approached the bed, hesitated for a moment, and then collapsed onto it, exhausted. The faint scent of her perfume still lingered on the sheets. He t
